I still own 27 of those singles. 1995 was the year I started buying dance vinyl in bulk. Prior to that I was getting compilation CDs and artist albums like 808 State, Underworld and Orbital. I used Hideaway and Give Me Luv to learn how to beatmatch. Good times. Hard to pick just one of these songs though.

This is actually really fucking difficult!

Gotta go for Higher State for sheer nostalgia value. I still remember how my high school mates went fucking nuts when the Tweakin' Acid Funk mix of it played at some school parties. Even the non-techno heads loved that one.

Pretty sure we'd hear Winx, Access and the earlier Red 2 every time we went clubbing that year.

For musical influence I'd have to go with Pulp Fiction. It seems like it cemented the notion of drum & bass as a style with real pop potential (I don't mean potential commercial success but just some appeal beyond the dancefloor). Personally I'm more attached to Horizons though. (And yeah I'm familiar with enough of the non-d&b stuff too.)
