Ennio Morricone 'Invenzione Per John' (9:07)

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Monday, 22 August 2005 20:43 (twenty years ago)

Songs I wouldn't elongate, but usually listen to on repeat:

Big Star - ST 100-6
Big Star - I'm in Love With a Girl
Moby Grape - Naked, If I Want To

Confounded (Confounded), Monday, 22 August 2005 21:06 (twenty years ago)

Ambulance Blues - Neil Young

Susan Douglas (Susan Douglas), Monday, 22 August 2005 21:09 (twenty years ago)

I would say elongate Red Krayola's "Victory Garden," but G-500 already did it and I still prefer the original..

poortheatre (poortheatre), Monday, 22 August 2005 21:10 (twenty years ago)

My Way Home w/Kanye and Common.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Monday, 22 August 2005 21:11 (twenty years ago)

also, on a more serious note...Ellen Allien's "Open". guess it tends to be the epic tracks that i want more of still

"Ambulance Blues" ...maybe not twice as long, but could get the Gillian Welch's "I Dream A Highway" treatment of just winding down and around longer.

Susan Douglas (Susan Douglas), Monday, 22 August 2005 21:23 (twenty years ago)

Boredoms - "Super Shine"

Mark (MarkR), Tuesday, 23 August 2005 02:51 (twenty years ago)

Black Box Recorder b-side "Factory Radio." It's barely 2 minutes long, and I don't think I could ever listen to it less than twice in a row.

roxy music - pyjamarama

Boards of Canada, "Roygbiv"

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 23 August 2005 04:10 (twenty years ago)

Pretty much every Meters song, or at least every early Meters song.

Hurting (Hurting), Tuesday, 23 August 2005 04:10 (twenty years ago)

Max Tundra, "61over"

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 23 August 2005 04:11 (twenty years ago)

Hurting: hence "One Thing", no?

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 23 August 2005 04:18 (twenty years ago)

Excellent point.

Hurting (Hurting), Tuesday, 23 August 2005 04:19 (twenty years ago)

" I was using some of the breakdown parts. Every Jamaican record has a dub side to it. So I just tried to apply that. As the years went along I'm watchin people, waiting for this particular break in it, the rhythm section. One night, I was waiting for the record to play out. Maybe there are dancers waiting for this particular break. I could have a couple more records got the same break in it - I wonder, how it be if I put them all together and I told them: "I'm going to try something new tonight. I'm going to call it a merry-go-round."

Hurting (Hurting), Tuesday, 23 August 2005 04:27 (twenty years ago)

'Roygbiv' is the obvious great call!

Laurent Garnier 'Communications From The Lab'

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Tuesday, 23 August 2005 09:26 (twenty years ago)

I don't get why everyone loves Roygbiv so much, I think it's one of the weaker and more predictable songs on the albums. I even prefer Kaini Industries to it.

sickhead, Tuesday, 23 August 2005 09:43 (twenty years ago)

almost every Plaid song

Ste (Fuzzy), Tuesday, 23 August 2005 09:45 (twenty years ago)

Arnault (arc73hk), Tuesday, 23 August 2005 10:23 (twenty years ago)

sickhead - because it reminds me of The Kids From Degrassi Street, and it's definitely BOC's 'happiest' track.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Tuesday, 23 August 2005 10:38 (twenty years ago)

"Galveston" is too short too.

I wish boredoms' "sea drum" would never ever end.

is this off the first or second album? i love the second.

piscesboy, Tuesday, 23 August 2005 13:55 (twenty years ago)

I've said this before: War's "Low Rider", with its insanely springy assembly-line rhythm, is perhaps my favourite groove of all time; and if they'd decided to fill an entire LP side with it, that'd be more than fine with me.

Well, it's on their 3rd album : fosbury. A new style for them - more danceable and still great
But Take me back is a very simple pure pop song

Arnault (arc73hk), Monday, 29 August 2005 15:46 (twenty years ago)

Mira - "Heavenly Slumber" (ends too abruptly -- could've used another minute or two for a proper denouement)

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Saturday, 31 December 2005 22:52 (twenty years ago)

Brian Eno - The Big Ship
Richard Thompson - Night Comes In (it probably is twice as long live)
Napalm Death - You Suffer
Spacemen 3 - Transparent Radiation (the first version, the second isn't as great)
Devin the Dude's "Briar Patch" could go on for hours and I'd be happy.

clotpoll, Sunday, 1 January 2006 00:20 (twenty years ago)

Fox Force Five Punchline (sexyDancer), Friday, 3 April 2009 22:31 (seventeen years ago)

i don't get why 'i'm in love with a girl' should be longer. it's a perfect, concise length for such a simple tune.

Charlie Howard, Saturday, 4 April 2009 03:19 (seventeen years ago)

Songs I often think I'd like to be longer, and then second guess that maybe they really are as long as they need to be:

"Lazy Day" - Boo Radleys
"Extra Kings" - Avanlanches
"I'm So Tired" - Fugazi

miley cyrus - 4x4

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Friday, 10 February 2017 10:39 (nine years ago)

I mentioned this in the other thread, but IMO it's ridiculous that Minnie Riperton's "Les Fleur" has one of the best, most gloriously beautiful choruses in all of Western pop music, yet it's played only twice in the entire song before the it fades out!

I also remember being disappointed to learn that there's no extended version of Chaka Khan's "I'm Every Woman", which at 4 minutes is way too short for such a disco epic. There is a long house remix from the '80s, but that doesn't satisfy the same need, I'm surprised no one has made a proper old-school disco edit of it.

It was sampled on Dubtribe's 10m+ 'Do It Now' though (in turn inspiring The Juan Maclean's 'Happy House') - someone has probably put all three in a mix at some point.
