lex, you have to listen to their only album! one of the few house album that's perfect from start to finish.

dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Wednesday, 14 January 2009 10:19 (fifteen years ago) link

ok i will! really not sure why i hadn't picked it up. i don't think i have the coast 2 coast mix either.

lex pretend, Wednesday, 14 January 2009 10:21 (fifteen years ago) link

my record player's broken and plays everything at 33rpm but my record of 'rej' is 45: it turns into this kind of sultry crocodile music?

king lame (c sharp major), Wednesday, 14 January 2009 11:21 (fifteen years ago) link

only have the "rej" and "kuma" eps, but they're great. lush minimalism?

Henrik Schwarz's Very Own Thread

Âme's 2006 Lowlands set. Anyone care to share it?

I'm still deeply in love with his 2006 Essential Mix, largely cause he breaks out the "Insomnia" remix at just the right time.

FIND IT. KEEP IT. WORK IT. SHARE IT.

I mean them. They. They do that.

viborg, Sunday, 19 April 2009 09:05 (fifteen years ago) link

alternatively you can search for ame's set at flex vienna, also 2006. i bet it's not much different from the one at lowlands.

dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Sunday, 19 April 2009 10:57 (fifteen years ago) link

Thanks! That Lowlands set is practically Google-proof.

viborg, Sunday, 19 April 2009 11:13 (fifteen years ago) link

Very much so. I did already see the 3voor12 link, but no set is so good that I need to install a RealPlayer plugin to find it.

Thanks to Safari Activity Window, I had no problem finding a DL link from the other one though.

Feel free to call me out if jacking their link is bad form.

So the Flex Vienna mix I got is 4 hours long, but Lowlands mix is just 30 minutes?

viborg, Sunday, 19 April 2009 21:03 (fifteen years ago) link

Lowlandsmix is 2.5 hrs iirc. Maybe I still have it somewhere at home. Can check.

willem, Monday, 20 April 2009 07:36 (fifteen years ago) link

the flex vienna is 4 hours because it contains duplicate part at the middle. you gotta do some cutting to listen to it properly. cut the part starting 02:09:17 until the last 50 minutes & 15 seconds.

dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Monday, 20 April 2009 10:18 (fifteen years ago) link

or should i say until the start of the last 50:15

dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Monday, 20 April 2009 10:19 (fifteen years ago) link

Coast 2 Coast is in the Head/Zavvi clearout for wallet busting £2.75.

ha, let me know! might grab it too if it's still there when i next head into town.

lex pretend, Tuesday, 21 April 2009 13:18 (fourteen years ago) link

actually, i was wrong it was £2.25 ..
bear in mind this was the bristol shop lex, but if you are interested etc etc ..

mark e, Tuesday, 21 April 2009 13:28 (fourteen years ago) link

I really like the Coast 2 Coast mix, but it takes some time to sneak up on you I think. It's determinedly unhistrionic.

Tim F, Tuesday, 21 April 2009 22:23 (fourteen years ago) link

easily best mix cd of 2007 for me. tim, what is unhistrionic?

dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Tuesday, 21 April 2009 23:03 (fourteen years ago) link

As in it's relatively laidback throughout, and never ostentatious in presenting its charms - no massive anthems or bangers really, or even "what was that" weird tracks or eclectic/surprising selections.

I guess it kind of peaks with the Carl Craig remix of "Poor People Must Work" and also "Sleepy Hollow", but on their other released mixes those would be build tracks rather than peak tracks.

However it's the best of their released DJ mixes in spite or maybe because of those things: it's just a lovely collection. There's something really gorgeous sounding about pretty much every track here. I adore the Chateau Flight and Buddha Khan tracks, and the Losoul remix of Freaks.

--well, i don't know about you but i think ct satin's "i found a friend" is massive. this mix introduced it to me.

dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Wednesday, 22 April 2009 17:16 (fourteen years ago) link

Oh yeah but that's probably the one mildly ostentatious "hey look at this undiscovered singalong curio from the past" moment. Anyway I'm not criticizing the mix at all!

Tim F, Wednesday, 22 April 2009 21:11 (fourteen years ago) link

two years pass...

These guys have been so consistent and excellent for years, I am looking forward very much to this. Their version of Underworld's "Crocodile" is such big fun, "Envisions" is a total anthem and "Ku Kanjani," the single from last year with Amampondo, was heavily under-rated.

boxedjoy, Friday, 20 April 2012 08:42 (twelve years ago) link

Sort of surprised they haven't just up and released the best house album of the 21st century.

EDB, Friday, 20 April 2012 08:48 (twelve years ago) link

which is better, their live PA's or dj sets?

dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Friday, 20 April 2012 08:52 (twelve years ago) link

The Ame live PA I saw was outright transplendant. More or less perfect, actually.

EDB, Friday, 20 April 2012 08:58 (twelve years ago) link

Someone, I can't remember who, linked to this four hour set in one of the Todd Terje threads to talk about the mix into "Bizarre Love Triangle" but the rest of it is just as much fun:

haha that was me. fucking ecstatic moment. I can imagine myself crying if I had been on the dancefloor.

I don't know why this track doesn't get more love

Such awesome and consistent producers, I'm really looking forward to this.

Homosexual Satan Wasp (Matt DC), Friday, 20 April 2012 09:24 (twelve years ago) link

Primary Structures aka their FACT mix was great too, I love the way it goes from the Charanjit Singh track into the galloping opera-techno of The Knife's "Seeds". Plus NDF's "Since We Last Met" is the best wispy, frail house track in recent years.

boxedjoy, Friday, 20 April 2012 09:36 (twelve years ago) link

kinda feel they're underrated though
