the MGMT album singed my eyebrows.

I don't rate any of these. Neither have I heard any of them.

_Rudipherous_, Monday, 18 November 2013 17:05 (ten years ago) link

Have only listened to Holograms and Best Coast, and both of them are rated properly.

Johnny Fever, Monday, 18 November 2013 17:08 (ten years ago) link

I had no idea that either MGMT or Moby released an album this year.

Matt DC, Monday, 18 November 2013 17:08 (ten years ago) link

the MGMT album purged my stomach contents.

i forgot there was a new Yuck album out, i need to hear it. i liked the 90s nostalgia of the first one.

I haven't been in a hurry with Yuck. The singer and primary songwriter left the band between albums, so maybe they weathered that and maybe they didn't.

Johnny Fever, Monday, 18 November 2013 17:11 (ten years ago) link

yeah i'm listening now and it doesnt sound anything like the last one

ᶓ͠סּᴥ͠סּᶔ ᶓͼ᷆ₓͼ᷇ᶔ (gr8080), Monday, 18 November 2013 17:12 (ten years ago) link

yeah i think that's why i didn't expect a new one out so soon.

the real answer to this question is, btw, The Appleseed Cast's Illumination Ritual.

otm

but why do people who read albumoftheyear.org think these albums are so great when critics disagree

I thought the Best Coast album was pleasant

First instinct is Cage the Elephant. Any thoughts, DJ

Drugs A. Money, Monday, 18 November 2013 18:25 (ten years ago) link

DJP?

(note: I have not listened to any of these)

Drugs A. Money, Monday, 18 November 2013 18:26 (ten years ago) link

I listened to the first few songs; didn't like it as much as I liked the previous album.

Have heard none of these. Voted "Portugal. The Man - Evil Friends" for its ostentatious punctuation.

Didn't even know that Best Coast, Moby, Cage the Elephant and Portugal. The Man had new ones out, honestly.

I too was like "New Moby?"

Bailey (Collins) Lover (Eazy), Tuesday, 19 November 2013 06:58 (ten years ago) link

i like holograms a lot but don't imagine they'd find many fans here. the best coast EP sounds better than the last one but the songs are maybe a touch weaker. still pretty good though

yuck seem to have become a bit less annoying on the new one, perhaps losing the songwriter did them a favour

The Moby album was fine up until I hit the song with Cold Specks, where the singing made me laugh so much stopped playing the rest of the album

I started the Moby album last night thanks to this thread, but I didn't finish it. Dullsville.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 19 November 2013 16:11 (ten years ago) link

moby album is cool

le goon (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 19 November 2013 16:12 (ten years ago) link

I wish Moby still made hacky rave jams instead of hacky lite-pop
