Eh, once the truth came out, I don't think anyone was "protecting" Luna. Some of us were protesting against Chaki's comments at first, because at the time it felt like he was just doing a personal attack against Luna, but when other, less hot-headed posters started revealing more info about this whole case, there wasn't anyone protecting her anymore. And Luna herself had already stopped posting by then.

The mod edits were made at my request and were designed to protect someone other than the person who this thread is about. The mod in question has acted with great courtesy and kindness here - now why don't you STFU.

Er, you said we were "protecting the insane", but at that time we still thought she was a regular poster who was attacked by Chaki. There were some ILXors who knew more about this case, but they didn't post what they knew on ILX until after Chaki's comments. As for the mod edits, I assume they were because there was some sensitive info about third parties who don't necessarily want this whole case be laid out on a public message board.

Liars still have a consistency in tone, style, y'know? How quickly he was responding, his emotions and background details...it convinced me. Anyway, husband says he's now done with her, chats between me and her were proof she had been cheating on him with her HS boyfriend. It was out of the blue. We don't have much of a relationship other than online phone games and the occasional text, so all she'd need to do to terminate contact is like not contact me. I mean I was already scared off all those years back from any deeper relationship than what I just described.

There were many of us who had no idea what this "fake" business was all about (at first I though he meant Luna had fake boobs), because it had never been discussed openly on ILX until after Chaki's messages. So to us, at first, it looked like a poster who was well-known to be a bit trollish was abusing another poster, not that he was trying to exposed an actual scammer.

I take it personally when people bring up this perennial "WCC is crazy" argument b/c, like, I'm crazy, so are ____ and ____, and ____ stayed at my house and was definitely crazy but he's a great writer and I like him a lot, and I've even observed _____ in sociopathic behaviour but s/he hasn't done anything actually dangerous so who gives a shit.

Considering that the beefs of this recent week have been the result of, basically, not much more than username doxxing and Twitter posting in anger, I think that a lot of the reactions have been leaning more toward crazy-shaming than actual productive response.

there are three types of "crazy" that I see invoked in life:
1. "Oh, he's so CRAZY" meaning someone knows how to get down and party and is a character
2. Mentally ill (crazy used derogatorily)
3. Mentally ill and enables the illness by getting into certain social situations

I'm not so much for #1, can handle those people in limited doses because I'm not huge on "fun." #2 is never really OK. #3 is... yeah, go get right with yourself, you're making yourself ill.

I am quite certain that I am now going to be called "crazy" and have all kinds of aspersions cast on my mental health for asking what should just be common consideration, but:

I find these kinds of clusterfucks and personal pile-ons incredibly triggering (of anxiety, of depression, of paranoia) and really rather damaging. It's odd to me, that people complain about my "crazyness" and then dive straight into exactly the behaviour I have asked them not to do, because it makes things worse, not better.

I am asking, as nicely as I can: can we please, for once, just not do this.

If you don't like me, can you please just leave me alone. These days, when I don't like someone, I try to avoid them. TWU, there are two kind of 'and' uses that are possible here. One is the conjunction within the sentence of two separate things, so 'the insane' and 'the truly damaging' are discrete (though possibly overlapping) entities. In this case you are pulling those of us with mental problems into the argument and saying we should be punished (or at least, not 'protected'). The other use is the one you are claiming now, which is 'the insane and the truly damaging' as one descriptive phrase. In that case, you are either pulling in mental problems as an intensifier, which is STILL REALLY INSULTING, or it is pointless to bring it up at all and your writing is redundant.

He told us all we could go home early and we sloped off, not knowing what to think, not even caring to pick up our jackets and pails from the field.

When I arrived back at my shack my wife lay slumped dead on the table.

I think she moved out of LA February 2011, so it's been less than 2 yrs that she took to burn through all that cash.

now that i know more deets about the 50-75k scam she can in fact definitely rot in hell, what a horrible human being.

I was away from ilx because of medical issues when Luna day happened, it was fascinating to go back and read later. Luna had always seemed off to me -- not because I thought she was scamming people out of money or anything, but there was just something very saccharine and twee about her that rang false. Like M White, less and less frequent "hey how you doing??" texts/emails over the years. And xmas cookies! She never asked me for any cash or gifts in almost 10 yrs. GD's right. Luna mostly fibbed around the edges. The grifting I think is far more recent. I never sent her anything but little birthday presents and vice-versa, she sent me books and, actually, some very nice cufflinks that I remain surprised she was able to find.

I assumed all pics were fake when she freaked out after I used the img url of one of the "at da club" pics to go to that website and see more pics of "her" from some LA club night. It didn't make sense that if they really were her, she'd get mad at me finding more pics of her that she just hadn't bother to post on ILE.
