yh it's a v difficult one. aesthetically i could not bear to see evans play for my team but i do believe in the redemption & rehabilitation of criminals

*ponders*

Evans still maintains he did nothing wrong so redemption and rehabilitation may be a stretch.

i guess sporting bodies have rules about disrepute and such which might cover these situations, and it's reasonable for fan groups to apply pressure not to employ players

Chris Powell is now amongst the Town manager applicants, get him on board before the Charlton game I say ◠‿◠! I could see him ticking a lot of boxes with our chairman, who like most arrogant self made autocrats - he has an aversion to employing older people for the top jobs. I suppose it can't help that Stan Ternent was extracted from a neolithic bog to manage the club by other parties when he first bought it and he spent a fortune on sub-conference players and made whoopsies everywhere.

autumn reckoning faction (xelab), Friday, 15 August 2014 20:32 (nine years ago) link

lol we'd have absolutely no problem with him at Town - a few hilarious wankers were fretting about him going to Palace on the forum, which was always absolutely never even conceivably going to happen

i'm elf-ein lusophonic (imago), Friday, 15 August 2014 20:34 (nine years ago) link

I'd be quite happy for him, myself, and I'd hope that you weren't direct relegation rivals of ours

i'm elf-ein lusophonic (imago), Friday, 15 August 2014 20:34 (nine years ago) link

He is my fave for the job because unlike some of the other more so-called big-shot type applicants I get the feeling he would desire the job more and not see it it as a temp move or beneath him. Which is what will hopefully come across in his interview. A lot of the sub-human nob-rots on our forum are in love with Neil Lennon, probably some of the same fucking wasters guilty of leading the embarrassing "No Surrender to the IRA" chants at various times in the past:O=

autumn reckoning faction (xelab), Friday, 15 August 2014 21:11 (nine years ago) link

he inspires great affection, even if his football is at times functional rather than spectacular. neil lennon strikes me as a man whose character is not especially suited to the championship

i'm elf-ein lusophonic (imago), Friday, 15 August 2014 21:16 (nine years ago) link

I totally agree, a lower table championship club is more akin to the pressures of a top league 1 club. And a whole different skill-set is required.

trying to pun 'mool mantar' with 'molineux' and it's not going well

just needs to be a bit more tolerant of substances & sexual deviancy and it'd have my full backing

I wouldn't argue with that statement.

fucking Chris Wood equalizer the icing on the cake, just throwed 3 points away here, more bad luck than anything but must strengthen this squad

ominous thumping for norwich there

watford will probably end up scoring hatfuls and lose in the playoffs

alarm bells ringing for hyppia already as pandemic predicted

the new midfield signings Coady and Butterfield are sounding promising, but it is going to be a very long season if the incoming manager isn't given funds for a CB and a Striker at least.

Stead shouldn't be anywhere near any serious Championship, L1 or L2 starting XI right now, he is no K Phillips - he is not even a Nardiello. Even my step-father who used to compare Steadinho mk1 to Denis Law says he is "totally gone".

Fuck off and die Solskjaer and Cardiff.

Xelab, you're a Hudders fan right? Hearing reports here that Patrick Kluivert is considered for the job (along with Mobray and Steven Pressley iirc). Let's hope it won't be Kluivert. For Hudders sake... Jeez.

Probably won't dip into this thread too often, but know ch'ship wise t' Town is my club.

was clyde wijnhard yr boyhood hero

r|t|c, Saturday, 16 August 2014 23:52 (nine years ago) link

lol no, do remember him though. Van Gaal thought of him as the future Ajax right back in 1992. Heh.

Nah, gf of five years was from Tod, kind of took to Town's charm tbh.

ambient yacht god (Le Bateau Ivre), Sunday, 17 August 2014 00:01 (nine years ago) link

Kluivert/Offside Clyde dream team! Probably a more realistic option from the Dutch applicants is Mario Been but then again the PK rumour comes from Nixon of The Mirror who has called a lot of things correctly in the past. I don't think Hoyle will be swayed by any household names but you never know.

autumn reckoning faction (xelab), Sunday, 17 August 2014 11:07 (nine years ago) link

Kluivert's agent has confirmed he is interested in the job and he is in currently in LA googling Huddersfield Airport.

that's quite a punt

The aim of Rooney is spot correct (Daphnis Celesta), Monday, 18 August 2014 13:50 (nine years ago) link

On Sunday I was almost tempted to open a betting exchange account and lay the shit out of Kluivert, not so sure now...

autumn reckoning faction (xelab), Monday, 18 August 2014 14:20 (nine years ago) link

This nonsense was brought to you by the self perpetuating cycle of agents talking shit, the internet gossiping about it and then even esteemed organs like the Indie regurgitating this gossip as news. Back in reality it looks like Chris Powell is the front runner, the CEO wants to appoint Pressley but that would require paying Coventry off again and would be a total dick move.

i'm elf-ein lusophonic (imago), Tuesday, 19 August 2014 20:50 (nine years ago) link

Well what do ya know? Put players in their natural positions and you have a team, this management lark is a piece of piss.

autumn reckoning faction (xelab), Tuesday, 19 August 2014 20:57 (nine years ago) link

it's almost like Saturday will be a titanic clash between two in-form sides

i'm elf-ein lusophonic (imago), Tuesday, 19 August 2014 21:00 (nine years ago) link

Ah, nothing like an early season game at Blackpool to guarantee that first win.

oppet, Tuesday, 19 August 2014 21:09 (nine years ago) link

Now that we have shook off the "crisis club" moniker with our "recent good form" saturday will be a game no doubt! According to skybet Mcleish is currently the fav to be in charge, I get the feeling it might be Powell sat in the stands with Lillis still in caretaker mode.

autumn reckoning faction (xelab), Tuesday, 19 August 2014 21:16 (nine years ago) link

Oh jesus wept! there has been a Warnock deluge tonight. I can't keep track of this any more. The last time he was at Town he fell out with the board over him trying to open up his own club-shop in the town centre.

autumn reckoning faction (xelab), Tuesday, 19 August 2014 22:18 (nine years ago) link

lol really? never heard that one

r|t|c, Tuesday, 19 August 2014 22:35 (nine years ago) link

yeah that one is 100% true. He did actually want his own club shop selling kits in the town centre!

autumn reckoning faction (xelab), Tuesday, 19 August 2014 22:41 (nine years ago) link

haha he makes it sound so grave here as well!

http://www.fourfourtwo.com/features/neil-warnock-one-one

Why did you leave Huddersfield days after taking us into Division One in 1995? Had you been offered the Plymouth job?

I had a problem in the boardroom from just after Christmas that season and it was affecting us all. I had to put that behind me and concentrate on getting them up, but the board knew from February that I’d leave at the end of the season. They asked me if I’d reconsider the day after the Play-Off Final, but I’d already made up my mind. It was a personal thing that I don’t want to go into, but I was a bit headstrong at the time and we laugh about it now whenever I go back.

r|t|c, Tuesday, 19 August 2014 22:49 (nine years ago) link

that club shop would have been full of doilies and olay night cream and royal memorabilia, with craig short behind the till

r|t|c, Tuesday, 19 August 2014 22:56 (nine years ago) link

They certainly missed the big picture there!

autumn reckoning faction (xelab), Tuesday, 19 August 2014 23:03 (nine years ago) link

I bumped into one of his early mainstays Chris Billy who I went to school with in the 80's. He was like "What you up to?" I was all yeah I am a dead-end electrician how is it for you bigshot? He seemed to think I was doing better than him at Bury.
