I am not all vinyl, but I will post today's here anyway. My show is on a CORE (top 25) college station so I play official CMJ rotation stuff which can sometimes be kinda jarring but overall I like it.
Trespassers W - Whistle Down The Wind (Dummy 2LP)Wolves In The Throne Room - Looming Resonance (Malevolent Grain EP)Weekend - Sleepy Theory (La Variete CD)Diminished Men - GG Narrows (LP on Abduction, playing here next Saturday)Pissed Jeans - Pleasure Race (new Sub Pop CD)Akron/Family - The Alps... (newest CD, these last two were rotation plays)Legendary Pink Dots - The Struette (Traumstad 3 cassette)Big Maybelle - That's A Pretty Good Love (one of those MIssissippi comp tapes)Cyrnai - Suppressionist (To Subtle Drive tape on Ladd-Frith)Einsturzende Neubauten - Die Libellen (The Jewels CD)Six Organs Of Admittance - Cover Your Wounds... (Luminous Night, damn this ruled)Royal Trux - Faca Amolada/The Spectre/WaterparkRichard Youngs - Collapsing Stars (Beyond The Valley Of The Ultrahits) - Runway (Like A Neuron) - Track 02 (Three Handed Star)The Fall - Leave The Capitol (Slates)Ariel Pink - Every Night I Die At Miyagi's (House Arrest)Odd Nosdam - Trunk Bomb (T.I.M.E.)Julian Plenti - Madrid Song (blah, won't play again)Tara Jane O'Neil - Biwa (these last three also rotation cuts, TJO was much better))Es - Ennen Olli Huonommin (Kesamaan Lapset CD)F/i - Threshold track 6 (Threshold cassette)Wipers - Better Off Dead/Alien Boy/D-7Charalambides - Mansfield Dam (from Nature Of Systems comp)Diminished Men - Pantomime Magpie (Abduction LP)

Triumphant(?) return to the digital airwaves tonight at 10pm EST.Listen on itunes! Radio -> Eclectic -> East Village Radio.
I'll be playing rekkerds with my buddy Keegan, who just called to inform me he's not gonna have a chance to get home to grab records before the show, so it's all on me tonight... country rock, singer-songwriter, a little bit of indie/punkier stuff, a small dose of R&B. Should be alright.

i can't believe you played my favorite eggs over easy song on your radio show. that's wild. i actually put that song on the country rock mix i made a while back. i keep meaning to digitize it and put it up on the west coast 70's thread. but i'm lame. i actually made the mix for the thread. which is something i don't think i've ever done before. maria loves that eggs over easy song so much she wants to marry it.
― scott seward, Wednesday, 28 October 2009 20:05 (fourteen years ago) link
it's a great song! my friend betsy was telling me (via facebook lol) that there's a great cover of it by some band called Zoot Money i've never heard of.

― ian, Wednesday, 28 October 2009 20:11 (fourteen years ago) link
oh man this eggs over easy stuff is incredible (btw scott no need to digitize it, unless of course you're looking for better than 192 kbps)
― psychgawsple, Thursday, 29 October 2009 01:29 (fourteen years ago) link
they seem very inspired by The Band, as a lot of groups in that era were, but... "Arkansas" at least is something special.
― ian, Thursday, 29 October 2009 04:55 (fourteen years ago) link
they seem to wear it on their sleeve even more than other stuff i've heard from that era! still it's pretty fun, the lyrics on certain songs are almost like Band-fanfic or something

yeah i can imagine that. maybe if you think of it as taking a break it'll be better, then you can be thinking of slinking into another spot when you get the urge to inflict songs on people again.
i'd be kinda into pre-recording i think, & also could then luxuriate in listening to myself on the radio, but that might just be me
― Local Christian Blues (schlump), Monday, 31 October 2011 22:48 (twelve years ago) link
haha i never listen to my shows; i'm too self-conscious, i get embarrassed. i emailed them proposing i pre-tape the shows, preferably on friday nights, cuz that's the night my wife works late and our scheduled would sync up better and make me not feel so much like i was missing out on chillaxin time.
― one dis leads to another (ian), Monday, 31 October 2011 23:20 (twelve years ago) link
this might be a dumb q, but do you do this in the window, ian? idk anything about evr so don't know if there's another studio for pre-records/non-extroverted taping &c, but i always thought that was a pretty insane setup (maybe not nec in a bad way. i guess it's kinda like the one in northern exposure)

ha. yeah, i do it in the window. it's got it's pros & cons. the show is in a late spot in an area with a lot of bars so drunk ppl bothering you is a problem. Can imagine it would be even worse on a Saturday.OTOH, I am featured in the vacation photos of many european tourists.

This show was built around the vibe I get from the Roxy Beach II song cycle that my friend recorded (I think it was in summer 2010?). He's the guy that was kicked out of Mah Jongg. It's great stuff, starting to seem like it's going to be a "lost" record, though. Friends from Cave and elsewhere provided assistance. Found a bunch of great lps at the station that had been misfiled, including that Social Climbers lp (which is fan-fucking-tastic)

I walked by you during this show...too quick to stop. I had just had a belated birthday dinner with my girlfriend and my family at Dirt Candy and we had to kill time before a party in WB so we ran down to the Sunshine to see the new Almodovar. It was a pretty great experience because it was maybe the first saturday night we'd been in the east village in like 4 years and we were just commenting on all the assholes and terrible people and how shitty manhattan can be especially on a weekend and as we got near EVR suddenly we heard this awesome serious old-timey music and it was this great disconnect, between the music and the scene on the street.
