i bet an original psychedelic underground is like $500. lemme check. whoa wait, actually, not even that expensive.

Amon Duul released five albums, now much sought-after collectors’ items. The first album was originally untitled, but has come to be known as Psychedelic Underground. It was issued by German Metronome as MLP 15332 in 1969. It was subsequently released in the United States as Amon Duul, by Prophesy (1003) in 1970. This edition is, if anything, even rarer. In 1973 Metronome reissued it as This Is Amon Duul (200146). And as late as 1981 it was again reissued, this time by Metronome’s psychedelic subsidiary, Brain, as Minilied (40149). That’s an amazing number of editions for a nearly unlistenable album. In 1995 the Japanese Captain Trip label put it out on CD – in a flawed edition with 29 seconds missing (CTCDB-021).

I've had a few of these fucking marathon Wednesday's this summer. Work 8 to 5, class from 6 to 8:30, radio show from 10 to 12, then a "can't miss" rock set from 12-1:30 (1:30 is beer o'clock in Columbia MO)

that For The Dead In Space comp always makes me think of my uncle. He played me Pearls Before Swine (and the Burrito Bros) when i was abt 13, 14 years old. Changed everything. he had the first volume of the Pearls tribute comp too, which incidentally became the first place I ever heard my fiancee's band.

Horses is one of my top 3 or so favorite songs ever. Not so much the Pere Ubu version though.

I saw a Red Krayola lineup in Chicago that featured David Grubbs, John McEntire and George Hurley. They played Horses, which was very cool of them to do, but it just didn't sound the same without a BASS, you know?

When Mayo joined Pere Ubu they did it. As much as I love Mayo Thompson AND Pere Ubu, the record they did together wasn't my favorite from either.
