Horses is one of my top 3 or so favorite songs ever. Not so much the Pere Ubu version though.

Never heard pere ubu do Horses.
I saw a Red Krayola lineup in Chicago that featured David Grubbs, John McEntire and George Hurley. They played Horses, which was very cool of them to do, but it just didn't sound the same without a BASS, you know?

When Mayo joined Pere Ubu they did it. As much as I love Mayo Thompson AND Pere Ubu, the record they did together wasn't my favorite from either.

glad you liked it! yeah, that jon hassell was definitely the intended CENTERPIECE of the show, and the jon gibson featured arthur russell on cello. i found a cdr at the station of gibson's TWO SOLO PIECES, and it had some previously unreleased stuff, including the one i played! sometimes, cdr's are as good as records??

if you go into the intermediary looking for the kind of stuff on 'out of the blue' you will be disappointed, but if you want a really immersive sonic experience with electronically modified piano, then it is your jam

Stepped out for a smoke and the wind knocked the studio door shut! that shit locks from the inside and I was the only one at the station. Luckily, I had just put on that Steve Gunn side from the three lobed box set. I actually drove to another programmer's house to get his key but he couldn't find it. I drove back to the studio, frantically calling anyone I could think of and at the last minute the operations director walked up and let me in. Glad he left his cell phone at the office last night. I was back in the driver's seat before the side even ended. That's the stuff of anxiety dreams.
