Does Ikea know that they're the only game in town for sturdy, affordable record shelving?

naus, Thursday, 16 July 2009 05:59 (fourteen years ago) link

hahah sadly to join this i would need a panoramic shitty ziptied wire crates on the floor of my basement under a bunch of other random stuff shot.

i am shamed by my treatment of my vinyl. SHAMED

^ From January, 2008. I've since filled up the old Expedit, and half another shelf. Also upgraded the dj gear.

i can take pics tomorrow. now that i have one small room devoted to records, its easier to photograph. i just need more shelves for books now. they are all stacked up on top of record shelves. same with CDs and dvds.

scott seward, Friday, 3 February 2012 01:22 (twelve years ago) link

so can i one of the expedit things that is taller than it is wide? like it can be up to 8 feet tall but no more than 3 or 4 feet wide. will it stand up?

dont know who that question (?) is directed to but it is incomprehensible to me

flopson, Friday, 3 February 2012 02:56 (twelve years ago) link

you can stand up the smaller expedit shelves. the 8 box ones.

hmm. how many LPs do each of the cubbie in an expedit shelf hold?

flesh, the devil, and a wolf (wolf) (amateurist), Friday, 3 February 2012 03:22 (twelve years ago) link

75 or 80

scott seward, Friday, 3 February 2012 03:33 (twelve years ago) link

I get about 90-100 in each of mine, depending on 12" or double LPs.. Also I tend to cram mine a little too much..

I love Expedit - got three of them in my flat.

three weeks pass...

only about 1/3 of the records on the metal shelves are mine. that is where i keep my jazz, reggae, international & 20th century composition stuff. and comps and splits. and spoken word.

if i want to listen to music, i have to squat on a pile of magazines on that one patch of empty rug

Ottbot jr (NickB), Thursday, 8 January 2015 22:33 (nine years ago) link

that's some impressively solid looking shelving. this thread is a good reminder that i've got to get some wood to make more shelves since vinyl overflow is starting to take over flooring/sitting spaces.

...& probably not best to have a couple of hundred lps resting on top of a spring bottomed couch :-/

two weeks pass...

I've got an entire bedroom full of vinyl stashed in my dad's old house. Can't get to it right now as the police kicked me out of there, not before making a bitchy comment about all of the shit stored upstairs.

at risk of adding to the :-( ratio, i got hold of some timber & have nearly finished building some new shelves.

no lime tangier, Tuesday, 3 February 2015 19:24 (nine years ago) link

that puts a smile on my face! new shelves are a good thing!
