so much has happened.

s1ocki (slutsky), Monday, 18 July 2005 15:38 (eighteen years ago) link

first, they vanished for a few days when workers appeared on the roof to replace some aluminum siding stuff. but they weren't gone!! they've re-appeared and they've built a little shack for themselves up there!!

s1ocki (slutsky), Monday, 18 July 2005 15:39 (eighteen years ago) link

wow.
i missed this thread
thanks for the update

dahlin (dahlin), Monday, 18 July 2005 15:47 (eighteen years ago) link

they need that fucking shack, let me tell you. it's a fucking SCORCHER!!

s1ocki (slutsky), Monday, 18 July 2005 15:49 (eighteen years ago) link

I hope the shack isn't made out of aluminum siding leftovers, and doesn't have a door, which would make it pretty much an oven. I am a little worried about those punks on a roof in this heat. Ah, punks.

rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Monday, 18 July 2005 16:05 (eighteen years ago) link

what are they wearing?

dahlin (dahlin), Monday, 18 July 2005 16:07 (eighteen years ago) link

the shack is largely made of cardboard.

and the last one i saw was wearing... NOTHING!

s1ocki (slutsky), Monday, 18 July 2005 16:51 (eighteen years ago) link

OMG OMG

cops are up there now!! they don't look happy!! a scruffy little kid is showing them around!!

we think he may be a snitch!!!

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 16:43 (eighteen years ago) link

or a fall guy!!

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 16:44 (eighteen years ago) link

what's happening now?! this is really suspenseful

matlewis (matlewis), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 16:55 (eighteen years ago) link

they looked around with stern expressions on their faces and then left; i don't think any of the primary punks were up there at the time. perhaps building a house was going too far!! we will see what happens...

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 16:57 (eighteen years ago) link

all quiet so far

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 20:04 (eighteen years ago) link

YOU MUST WARN THEM

carbon (carbon), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 22:46 (eighteen years ago) link

"primary punks" :)

Rockist_Scientist (RSLaRue), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 22:54 (eighteen years ago) link

why do we not have pics of their rooftop shantytown?

milozauckerman (miloaukerman), Thursday, 21 July 2005 02:22 (eighteen years ago) link

Seriously, get on that!

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Thursday, 21 July 2005 02:27 (eighteen years ago) link

there are workers with drills on the roof and the punk shantyhouse is gone :( :(

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 14:25 (eighteen years ago) link

the punk house survived for over a week after the cop visit but i didn't really spot them any more... either they had left or they were keeping a low profile (very low, as you can only really see them from where i am, not from the street at all). and now, this.

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 14:27 (eighteen years ago) link

they're also working on the adjacent building, which is one story higher (must have the same owner)

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 14:27 (eighteen years ago) link

how sad! no more punks!

dahlin (dahlin), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 14:30 (eighteen years ago) link

they will live on, i'm sure, on a rooftop or in a trainyard or under a makeshift lean-to somewhere!! they can not be stopped!

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 14:36 (eighteen years ago) link

God bless punks and their longevity!

Tuomas (Tuomas), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 14:48 (eighteen years ago) link

I wish you had taken pics. :(

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 14:56 (eighteen years ago) link

omg one of the workers is peeing

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 14:57 (eighteen years ago) link

omg i think he saw me looking at him

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 14:57 (eighteen years ago) link

The punks may be gone and a puddle of urine is all that remains but they will live forever on the rooftop of my heart.

laurence kansas (lawrence kansas), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 15:11 (eighteen years ago) link

"I'm Makin' Mends to the Rooftop of My Heart" by Curly Bob McGentry was one of the better country hits of 1946.

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 15:40 (eighteen years ago) link

Sorry, that should've been on ILM.

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 15:41 (eighteen years ago) link

Maybe the workers ARE the punks??

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 15:44 (eighteen years ago) link

They finally sold out!

giboyeux (skowly), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 15:50 (eighteen years ago) link

Oh, punks, where have you gone?
I am moving to Mile End in Sept, close to the railway tracks, so I will do my part and keep an eye out for punkist dwelling activity. But will try to avert my eye from peeing workers.

rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 15:55 (eighteen years ago) link

i referenced the wrong Billy Idol video up there i now realise. oh the crust of shame.

Kim (Kim), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 16:16 (eighteen years ago) link

There was a guy in a towel lying on top of the building next to ours and languidly stroking his erection earlier, and I thought of this thread.

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 16:31 (eighteen years ago) link

where in ME rrrobyn?

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 16:58 (eighteen years ago) link

omg, Mark, wow. It's funny how rooftops can seem so private when you're on them, yet really, unless you're high up, a lot of people will see you. It's one of those non-space space things.

s1ocki: To St. Laurent & Bernard (all the way from Little Burgundy/St. Henri, so it's a bit of a change, but one I'm looking forward to. And I get to live by myself (cheap rent!) - hurrah!) I'm guessing you live around them parts? I have a feeling my social life may get busier after the move, but then again, I have a thesis to finish, so I may just become a shut in! haha, ha...

rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 17:25 (eighteen years ago) link

surely there are no punks in ME!

dahlin (dahlin), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 17:57 (eighteen years ago) link

i live at jeanne-mance & st-viateur (that's not where i am now).

VERY NICE NEIGHBOURHOOD.

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 17:59 (eighteen years ago) link

haha, dahlin re: ME! This made me reread that as S1ocki being full of neighbourhoods, some with punks, some without, and one of which I will be living in. S1ocki is welcoming and spacious, family-friendly and accessible, with many quaint cafes and inexpensive eateries. haha. Mile End *is* quite nice, and, yeah, prob not too many punks on rooftops...

rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 18:26 (eighteen years ago) link

...but you never know!!

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 18:33 (eighteen years ago) link

oh. i assumed MAINE. silly me. ME.

dahlin (dahlin), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 20:40 (eighteen years ago) link

It's all entertainment, the acronym mixup.
Every time I see this thread I say/growl/yell:
PUNKS! ON! ROOFTOPS!!!

rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 20:49 (eighteen years ago) link

bah i thought you meant LONDON mile end (nb not london, ontario)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 20:55 (eighteen years ago) link

haha, if I was moving to London Mile End, Carsmile, you would know, everyone would know. I'd be all "I'm moving to London!! Fix me up a Welcome to London FAP, Sinister picnic, indie dance nite, drinking-on-the-beach day in Brighton, bowling, karaoke, etc, etc." Yeah. But I'm pretty excited about the intra-Montreal move anyway.

rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 21:04 (eighteen years ago) link

THEY'RE BACK!!

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 4 August 2005 20:25 (eighteen years ago) link

two of them--shirtless--horsing around--this is going to turn into a gay porno any second now

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 4 August 2005 20:25 (eighteen years ago) link

This thread rules.

Alan Conceicao (Alan Conceicao), Thursday, 4 August 2005 22:48 (eighteen years ago) link

wow! take pictures already!

dahlin (dahlin), Thursday, 4 August 2005 23:43 (eighteen years ago) link

slocki, I'm moving to MTL this fall (big ups to Mssr. Jay Watts III for help). Tell everyone not to panic, but that they should still take necessary precautions ok? Murdaaaa

LeCoq (LeCoq), Friday, 5 August 2005 02:23 (eighteen years ago) link
