NEVER FORGET

kenan, Thursday, 1 March 2007 16:20 (seventeen years ago) link

anyway I think keith fixed your unclickable thread yesterday, he's going to correct the lack of "no message/title/poll options/etc" errors at some point, yes at some point images may be replaced with links, yes at some point replacing images with links might become the default because of the logoff issue, yes at some point the logoff issue with the cookies might be fixed. but since not many people are as hot shit as keith and he already knows all the inner workings it pretty much depends on him and what he decides to implement when.

CHILX ALL STAR JAM

Jordan, Thursday, 1 March 2007 16:53 (seventeen years ago) link

HEY BROS: So I had this idea that next weekend, while Sarah is out of town, I would work on a giant 10-15 minute long song, and get my friends to contribute various parts to it, including you guys. Now there is talk of a new ILX compilation. Would anyone be interested in working on an all-star CHILX collabo song for the ILX comp? It wouldn't really have to be good or anything. Just fun.

Jordan beat me to it.

n/a, Thursday, 1 March 2007 16:54 (seventeen years ago) link

It could be like "We are the world." Or even a cover of "We are the world."

n/a, Thursday, 1 March 2007 16:55 (seventeen years ago) link

Or "(What's So Funny 'bout) Beef, Love and Understanding."

Ok, this dude in my office is simply astonishing. He tells the most long-winded, boring-ass stories you can imagine. They're not even stories. One of his favorite things to do is to recount the entire plot of a TV show he saw one time. I am not even kidding. These tales could go on for 10 minutes or more. But here's the amazing thing: he doesn't notice that you're bored. You can sigh, or not make eye contact, or whatever you usually do to subtly express a lack of interest, and he doesn't get it. I crack jokes about it sometimes, like, "Oh, but I bet we're going to hear all about it, aren't we!" Like, hey, all in good fun, but srsly dude, shut up. He doesn't get that, either. He tells the story anyway. I know more about what happened on Desperate Housewives over the last month than I ever cared to. If I cared, I WOULD HAVE WATCHED THE FUCKING SHOW. I am now leaning toward hostility when he gets started. I just outright ignore him. Outright. And sometimes I say, "I'm sorry, I wasn't listening." And he's all like, "That's ok. So what I was saying was..." A minute ago I walked out of the room, just rudely walked out without a word. And when I came back, HE PICKED UP WHERE HE LEFT OFF. IT IS ASTONISHING, I TELL YOU.

kenan, Thursday, 1 March 2007 16:57 (seventeen years ago) link

Yeah sure, I'm in.

dan m, Thursday, 1 March 2007 16:58 (seventeen years ago) link

We could finally record "Manpile."

n/a, Thursday, 1 March 2007 16:59 (seventeen years ago) link

Kenan, don't bait the dumb. It's cruel.

Love plus avoidance is a better way.

Laurel, Thursday, 1 March 2007 16:59 (seventeen years ago) link

I think I'm the victim here.

kenan, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:00 (seventeen years ago) link

I am totally in. Nick, are you thinking of recording at your place or piecing together parts recorded elsewhere?

Jordan, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:01 (seventeen years ago) link

I want to be on a chilx song, yes.

kenan, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:01 (seventeen years ago) link

Of course I'm in.

jaymc, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:02 (seventeen years ago) link

if it's in a or d i'll play or if i can borrow a bass which i've never played before i'll figure something out. and it certainly wouldn't be any worse than my guitar playing.

chicago kevin, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:06 (seventeen years ago) link

unrelated but yesterday i thought the t-shirt i'd worn for two days in a row was stinky but i was wrong, IT'S MY HOODIE THAT SMELLS. i need to wash this, pronto.

chicago kevin, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:09 (seventeen years ago) link

did i srsly just tell a long boring story about a guy who tells long boring stories?

kenan, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:10 (seventeen years ago) link

My first idea is that maybe next weekend, the instrumentalists get together at my practice place and we work out something simple and record it. Then we figure out some words and a time and place where everyone who wants to can assemble and chant the vocals gang-stylee. But Jordan, if you want to be involved you can email me something and I'll collage it in somehow.
I imagine Dan = drums, John = keys, me = guitar, Kevin and/or Sarah = bass, everyone = vocals, but I think everyone should be able to do what they want.

chicago kevin, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:13 (seventeen years ago) link

i think we need some precussion and go-go dancers. i volunteer for both if no one steps up.

chicago kevin, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:14 (seventeen years ago) link

i will play spoons.

kenan, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:14 (seventeen years ago) link

Eh, I think it would probably be too difficult to work in sequenced beats, I'll leave the drums to Dan.

Jordan, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:15 (seventeen years ago) link

DUAL DRUMMERS

(I don't know if I'm good enough for that)

dan m, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:16 (seventeen years ago) link

oh man xpost

dan m, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:16 (seventeen years ago) link

it's a 29 piece set

kenan, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:17 (seventeen years ago) link

I've only got 4. 8 if you count cymbals.

dan m, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:17 (seventeen years ago) link

Now I'm trying to remember: Did he have 29 actual drums or did he count cymbals too? At any rate: ridiculous. I played on a double bass, 6 toms, dozen or so cymbal set before and it was just out of hand.

Although if I feel like coming to Chicago and hanging out I could play various percussion/drums/whatever.

Dan - you can probably just use Ben's set, if you don't mind using a kind of tiny drum set.
Jordan - it doesn't matter, it's going to sound like chaos. I don't mean you trying to record something that matches up. Just something crazy we can splice in at some point.

n/a, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:27 (seventeen years ago) link

OK, I don't really feel like lugging mine anywhere just for a day, anyway.
