DUAL DRUMMERS

(I don't know if I'm good enough for that)

dan m, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:16 (seventeen years ago) link

it's a 29 piece set

kenan, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:17 (seventeen years ago) link

I've only got 4. 8 if you count cymbals.

dan m, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:17 (seventeen years ago) link

Now I'm trying to remember: Did he have 29 actual drums or did he count cymbals too? At any rate: ridiculous. I played on a double bass, 6 toms, dozen or so cymbal set before and it was just out of hand.

jaymc, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:21 (seventeen years ago) link

Although if I feel like coming to Chicago and hanging out I could play various percussion/drums/whatever.

Dan - you can probably just use Ben's set, if you don't mind using a kind of tiny drum set.
Jordan - it doesn't matter, it's going to sound like chaos. I don't mean you trying to record something that matches up. Just something crazy we can splice in at some point.

n/a, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:27 (seventeen years ago) link

OK, I don't really feel like lugging mine anywhere just for a day, anyway.

ah, mystery solved

kenan, Thursday, 1 March 2007 17:49 (seventeen years ago) link

favorite vandalism of the day: there's a white panel truck parked on the west side of western, just south of division, on it someone spray painted "ARREST DALEY" but on two separate lines leaving enough room for someone to scrawl "TYNE" before daley's name.

it made me giggle then it made me think of cagney & lacey so i guess that's a : \

Kitka got into a tail-chasing fit last night. Going in circles, trying to get at it between her legs, doing somersaults, etc. Girl is crazy.

Jordan, Thursday, 1 March 2007 18:45 (seventeen years ago) link

Oh and I finished Undeclared. As blonde Apatow girls go, Busy Phillips >>> Monica Keena.

Jordan, Thursday, 1 March 2007 18:52 (seventeen years ago) link

Monica Keena is blonde? You watched the whole series? I thought you just started it the other day...?

I guess she is kind of blonde...

jaymc, Thursday, 1 March 2007 18:57 (seventeen years ago) link

Hmm. Submarine Races open for Love of Diagrams at Schuba's tomorrow. But also, Soundbar. I am scared of Soundbar.

n/a, Thursday, 1 March 2007 18:59 (seventeen years ago) link

I am scared of Soundbar, too!

I'm having dinner at 7 PM tomorrow night at Thai Aroma, near the Sheridan Red Line stop. I guess I'll probably just go back downtown afterwards, hopefully with enough time to capitalize on the free drinks.

jaymc, Thursday, 1 March 2007 19:02 (seventeen years ago) link

Who is definitely going to Soundbar? I might be too chicken.

n/a, Thursday, 1 March 2007 19:02 (seventeen years ago) link

if i don't go to milwaukee tomorrow i will definitely go to soundbar and 80% probably go to schubas.

chicago kevin, Thursday, 1 March 2007 19:03 (seventeen years ago) link

She's blonde enough. I think I started the series on Monday and there's only about six hours of show in the boxset.

Jordan, Thursday, 1 March 2007 19:04 (seventeen years ago) link

don't be frightened of soundbar! IT'S AN OPEN BAR FOR CHRIST'S SAKE!!! OPEN BAR!!!! the clientele will probably be somewhat scarey but not in an quaking-in-my-boots kind of way.

chicago kevin, Thursday, 1 March 2007 19:05 (seventeen years ago) link

Yeah, you know, I tend to watch TV shows on DVD late at night and so I rarely watch more than an hour at a time.

jaymc, Thursday, 1 March 2007 19:06 (seventeen years ago) link

DON'T GO TO SOUNDBAR YOU GONNA GET RAPED

kenan, Thursday, 1 March 2007 19:06 (seventeen years ago) link

lol @ reviews of Soundbar...

ohhhhhh NO NO NO NO NO capital N capital O

this place freaks me the fuck out. First off, you have to pay twenty dollars for the honor and privilege of even walking through the door. This I did not do. I don't do that. I also don't do bars that have VIP anything. This drives me INSANE. the whole dance club thing drives me INSANE. Since when is going out an having fun a competition?

Everyone in here is dancing (dry sex) and clad in designer clothes purchased half off at filene's basement and trying to lure you into their vip table section with bottles of vodka.

dont even bother trying to use the bathroom. someone's doing coke in it.

Jordan, Thursday, 1 March 2007 19:08 (seventeen years ago) link

What's so scary about the Soundbar? Oh, okay, I googled it and they have a photo album.

Laurel, Thursday, 1 March 2007 19:08 (seventeen years ago) link

Yeah, if I'm not working on music, my main weeknight activity as a single dude is watching dvds.

Jordan, Thursday, 1 March 2007 19:09 (seventeen years ago) link

However, the bit about the bathrooms being unavailable due to illegal drug use is true of so many places, it's really hard to choose one to blame.

Laurel, Thursday, 1 March 2007 19:10 (seventeen years ago) link

doesn't anyone have any pioneer spirit anymore?

chicago kevin, Thursday, 1 March 2007 19:10 (seventeen years ago) link

I find Soundbar scary but I am not afraid of it, if that makes sense. I look at it like an anthropological expedidion with lots of booze and slutty people.

dan m, Thursday, 1 March 2007 19:10 (seventeen years ago) link

people will wonder how the fuck we got in, and that's pretty cool.

kenan, Thursday, 1 March 2007 19:12 (seventeen years ago) link

I can't wait to see EZ tempting us with a bottle of vodka from teh VIP section.

dan m, Thursday, 1 March 2007 19:12 (seventeen years ago) link

exactly dan, well put. so is it going to be me, dan, and eazy? christ, what a sausage party. BRING SOME TALC, WE'RE GONNA GET THE MEATSWEATS.

chicago kevin, Thursday, 1 March 2007 19:12 (seventeen years ago) link
