my two posts on this thread are my shining moment on ILM bar none

What did you used to be called then? This is my favourite thread that I started. I often like to think that I've grown up since then...

Oh right, 'chamomeow' is really quite (fucking) stunning.

Awwww, this thread.

I thought about reviving this yesterday when I noticed the kitten upside down and drooling under a chair, and then saw that she had somehow gotten the box of valerian tea out of the cabinet and torn into it. Since then she has been waiting for another opportunity to attack the cabinet and binge again.

I used to live with two cats who would MANGLE the paper wrappers from peppermint tea bags. They would basically roll on them and push their shoulders into them to try to get as much of the scent on them as possible, presumably. Craziness.

Laurel, Monday, 10 March 2008 15:53 (sixteen years ago) link

Oh, is it because peppermint is related to catnip?

roxymuzak, Monday, 10 March 2008 15:54 (sixteen years ago) link

I'm not sure, but catnip is some kind of mint, I think.

roxymuzak, Monday, 10 March 2008 15:54 (sixteen years ago) link

Ceiling cat is watching tea cat drink yr tea!

Masonic Boom, Monday, 10 March 2008 15:55 (sixteen years ago) link

Think so, rox. Yeah, catnip is a mint, albeit not one that smells minty to humanz.

Laurel, Monday, 10 March 2008 15:59 (sixteen years ago) link

Ceiling cat makes me lol.

roxymuzak, Monday, 10 March 2008 16:06 (sixteen years ago) link

Every morning I get my mug of coffee, sit down on the couch, and put my mug on the floor, the easiest place to access it from the couch. And every morning, my cat comes over, smells the coffee, then tries to bury it (in our hardwood floors). Every morning.

Can anyone tell me how to make really really good chai tea? The Tazo bags ain't cutting it. I'd like to do it iced with milk. I rather liked Oprah's fucking chai at Starbucks but 1) five bucks and change for a small iced tea? Get the fuck out of here and 2) Oprah.

What's actually *in* catnip? Not camomile, surely. Is it chorizo? Has anyone here (if there's still anyone here) tried it?

gatinga, Wednesday, 1 July 2015 15:13 (eight years ago) link

No, it's not made out of chorizo. Maybe churros?

Less twee:

Lions and jaguars were extremely sensitive to catnip compared to tigers, cougars, and bobcats, who gave little or no response.

my cat had no interest in tea, only plain cereal milk. not milky tea, nor pure milk, nor cream, nor the leftover milk from a bowl of sugary cereal; it had to be the dregs from something bland, like cheerios/chex. she was very particular. and decorous, as well, not like other kitties who would try to clamber into the cereal bowl before i'd even finished! no, i'd be halfway through breakfast and notice that she had silently materialized a few feet away, sitting with her floofy tail wrapped neatly around her paws, facing a polite 30 degrees away while i had my last few bites. when i'd place my bowl before her, she'd pretend to be surprised -- "all this, for me? you shouldn't have!" -- and help herself to several happy laps of milk before losing interest & drifting away

and i wouldn't say that i *like* tea, but i drink it everday (otherwise i fall asleep)

De Smurfführer (cat), Thursday, 4 May 2023 21:41 (one year ago) link

i've been adding cinnamon sticks as well, the past week or so. nice little spice in the plain tea, or with milk, or fruity whatevers. or both! today was spiced peaches & cream tea: black tea + cinnamon + a little semi-frozen cup of chopped peach + milk + ice

De Smurfführer (cat), Thursday, 4 May 2023 21:46 (one year ago) link

i usually try to keep a bottle of tea brewing in the fridge, too. i oughtta snip some fresh mint one of these mornings, mint + lemon is pretty badass

De Smurfführer (cat), Thursday, 4 May 2023 21:51 (one year ago) link

my secondary ice cube tray is currently full of minced ginger but once i've used that up i should make iced tea cubes, so as to chill my tea with no loss of potency

De Smurfführer (cat), Thursday, 4 May 2023 21:56 (one year ago) link

there's this bag of matcha powder, it's tremendous and i don't know what to do with it, matcha is awful, it tastes like muddy grass and i am not a goose! that is not a flavor i enjoy!!

De Smurfführer (cat), Thursday, 4 May 2023 22:16 (one year ago) link

just had a realization about jasmine tea, namely that i haven't had any in years and this is intolerable! maybe i can sub in rose petals for now. good god i have so much rose petals. my guy ordered a 1 lb bag of them several years ago and there are still just endless handfuls of them, like the bag is enchanted
