love the cottage cheese. small curd more than large curd, but i'm not that fussy. don't like it with fruit, tho. i don't understand why it's packaged and sold that way.
love it with a good thick spicy soup or chili. you can just pour the soup over a dollop of cottage cheese, the c.c. cuts the spice heat and adds some creaminess.

I love cottage cheese & eat it all the time, but when I was a teenager I got yelled at by an old man for trespassing on his lawn. He'd just eaten cottage cheese and the singular way it coated his mouth with a milky film and free-floating white chunks will probably never leave my mind.

I pretty much only like it just by itself. I especially don't care for it in lasagna, where it tends to make everything too watery.

yeah tbh cottage cheese should not be sullied by other food, best eaten directly from the tub via comically oversized spoon

omg
Cottage cheese can be eaten by itself, with fruit and sugar, with salt and pepper, with fruit puree, on toast, with tomatoes, with granola and cinnamon, as a chip dip, as a replacement for mayonnaise in tuna or chicken salad, in salads, or used as an ingredient in recipes such as jello salad and various desserts. Cottage cheese with fruit such as pears or peaches is a standard side dish in many "home cooking" or meat-and-three restaurants' menus in the United States.
like… tuna sandwich tuna salad?
i can't even comprehend

It must be pointed out that loving cottage cheese can totally depend on where you live. In NZ, cottage cheese was one of my favourite foods ever. So satisfyingly dense, so salty and creamy. Mm. Now I live in Canada, and it is inedible here. Even the full-fat variety is total bullshit. Just soupy and tasteless and disgusting.
Dairy products in general are shit here, really. Quite amazing what a different it makes when you actually allow cows out to pasture.
Cottage cheese, I miss you. You are one of the first things I get at the shops when I go home to visit.

It feels like cottage cheese is in decline. Like, it's heyday has come and gone.

Cottage cheese pancakes:
1 cup cottage cheese3 eggs2 tbsp melted butter1/4 cup whole wheat flour
The pancakes have to be little, like 2 inches across or so. The griddle has to be very hot or they will stick (but this is true of all pancakes.) They are delicious.
