man, I thought Lester would win this (or at least be neck and neck w/ Stringer)
― milo z, Thursday, 27 March 2008 00:25 (sixteen years ago) link
stringer is just a tru specimen though

Lester is an attractive character and Clarke Peters is a good-looking man, but I would have been shocked by anyone but Stringer winning. Idris Elba is ridiculous. the person who voted for Wee-Bey is otm, also.

i have been re-watching season 1 and i would like to swap Cutty out of my top five and put Bunk in his place. i wish Wendell Pierce would be cast in many, many things.

From a New York Magazine blog (because the Hollywood Report article won't appear in my browser):
Simon Goes to the Treme: David Simon has begun casting his HBO pilot, Treme, and he's recruited The Wire veterans Wendell Pierce and Clarke Peters to play New Orleans residents struggling to rebuild after Katrina. Khandi Alexander will join them as the owner of a bar, having finally escaped the vile sunglasses of CSI: Miami. wandered the foothills of California for over fifteen years since leaving NewsRadio.

oh wow.
Wendell Pierce's story in When the Levees Broke about how his dad's insurance company fucked him over after Katrina is heartbreaking.

also yay Khandi Alexander!
i would have happily watched a Homicide type Wire spin-off show with these two as main characters.

No love for Syndor? Reminds me of one scene in season 5 which I found amusingly meta, when McNulty is talking to Sydnor about "when we were working on the docks case" and Sydnor was like, "uh, I wasn't on that detail". Poor guy always fading into the backdrop.
FWIW I would have voted for Carver, or maybe McNulty had this poll been set before the 4th season. Stringer was undeniably hot though. Us female viewers & the gays were blessed.
