i can't like put some Morbs QT matrix on it, but all i know is I saw this shit in the theater the week it came out and laughed exactly once (during the gas fight)

brandon stüssy (Whiney G. Weingarten), Friday, 26 February 2010 15:49 (fourteen years ago) link

i haven't revisited it because i don't feel pressure about being ostracized by a bunch of people that think The Corrections is a good book

brandon stüssy (Whiney G. Weingarten), Friday, 26 February 2010 15:49 (fourteen years ago) link

i watched it for the first time a year ago and i was confused most of the time, waiting for the laffs to begin.

also i hated The Corrections

Sucks that Jonah Hill is going to be in this though.

Jonah Hill should be suggest banned from acting.

Meet the Parents is one of the least funny films ever made.

ô_o (Nicole), Friday, 26 February 2010 16:05 (fourteen years ago) link

don't get the jonah hill h8 either while we're all agreeing with each other

quiz show flat-track bully (darraghmac), Friday, 26 February 2010 16:10 (fourteen years ago) link

a two hour movie of jonah hill sleeping > > > Zoolander

Mr. Que, Friday, 26 February 2010 16:11 (fourteen years ago) link

i thought zoolander was idiotic the first time i saw it, got roped into watching it again with friends, it was actually funnier every time (now i've seen it...um...several). so i will be psyched for zoolander 2 even if i have to put up with jonah hill, which i grant could be a problem.

Maria, Friday, 26 February 2010 16:13 (fourteen years ago) link

meet the parents looked like complete garbage so i've never seen it

mdskltr (blueski), Friday, 26 February 2010 16:14 (fourteen years ago) link

it's fine. not a patch on zoolander, though owen w. kills.

Maria OTM- half caught zoolander the first time round, wasn't too bothered, but it improves every time.

i just--i dont know how to even begin going after it, its so hilarious and personal and... only whiney would be connecting love for zoolander with love for the corrections

i'm ok with zoolander (KILL THE PRESIDENT OF MALAYSIA bit was funnier than the gas fight btw)

but mystery men was just weak.

goole, Friday, 26 February 2010 16:22 (fourteen years ago) link

i was thinking that both came out after 9/11 and both have p strong followings (amongst p much entirely different sets of ppl but still). i mean - whiney is also hilarious when hes tyrna grapple w/ anyone elses worldview - but its p bizarre 2 me

*googles*
okay google has convinced me to never ever read this

http://www.amazon.com/Corrections-Novel-Jonathan-Franzen/dp/0312421273

Jonathan Franzen's exhilarating novel The Corrections tells a spellbinding story with sexy comic brio, and evokes a quirky family akin to Anne Tyler's, only bitter. Franzen's great at describing Christmas homecomings gone awry, cruise-ship follies, self-deluded academics, breast-obsessed screenwriters, stodgy old farts and edgy Tribeca bohemians equally at sea in their lives, and the mad, bad, dangerous worlds of the Internet boom and the fissioning post-Soviet East.

why yes, that is an awesome example of "do not want", thank you for asking

sexy comic brio

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ (dyao), Friday, 26 February 2010 16:26 (fourteen years ago) link

ok, so here's what that BOOMING POST meant.

essentially, i saw Zoolander place very high on the ilx film poll (which i didn't vote in) and smdh. then i saw the Corrections place #1 in the ilx book poll (which i didn't vote in) and smdh furiously.

basically when DA CROUP asked me why i didn't like zoolander, i felt like i SHOULD have some morbsy paragraph-long diatribe about why it sucks. but honestly, i barely remember the movie. I just remembered that i fucking hated it. i felt an actual tinge of critic's guilt that i couldn't back up my apparantly challopy opinion with evidence, and then realized why should i watch this awful movie again just to prove my point to ILX massive?

brandon stüssy (Whiney G. Weingarten), Friday, 26 February 2010 16:26 (fourteen years ago) link

btw I too only remember laughing at the gas fight

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ (dyao), Friday, 26 February 2010 16:26 (fourteen years ago) link

ILX massive who obviously has horrible taste in anything that's not music related
