yum. Panang sounds good. my black boots are also good for walking, so I'll be fine.

WOW. That girl sounds awful!! Both girls, actually. Dumb fur & dumb meat ladies.
I suppose I felt more hungry right after I went vegetarian because meat does leave that "filled up" feeling. It is rather amusing that she's restricting herself to a yogurt & a cookie pack until MEAT TIME...as though she's sacrificing through her slight reserves until she can binge until dawn.

sweet tater, Friday, 2 March 2007 19:01 (seventeen years ago) link

Are you vegetarian now, Kelsey? I can't remember.

Jordan, Friday, 2 March 2007 19:04 (seventeen years ago) link

I'm looking at old threads. I want to find my earliest post to ilx, but it's hard, because my name was just "jeff"

Chicago bday party thread

Jeff, Friday, 2 March 2007 19:10 (seventeen years ago) link

I've been a vegetarian for the better part of 13 years, although I do eat fish sometimes.

sweet tater, Friday, 2 March 2007 19:16 (seventeen years ago) link

This was my first thread, possibly first post:

So have any of you tried out those little fuzzy nipple covers? They're supposed to keep you warm & toasty. I haven't, that's why I ask. I have a problem with (a) being cold & (b) having my nipples show through all my tops when it starts to get chilly out. Bandaids hurt when you rip them off and it's dumb when you can see this little rectangular outline under your shirt. Am I the only girl with this problem?

KitCat, Friday, 2 March 2007 19:18 (seventeen years ago) link

wait, there are fuzzy nipple covers?

horseshoe, Friday, 2 March 2007 19:19 (seventeen years ago) link

I think I need those. I can get quite niptactular for a man.

I don't want to find my first post, or any of my early posts, because they will probably seem totally dumb.

dan m, Friday, 2 March 2007 19:20 (seventeen years ago) link

Way to make an entrance.

Woah, this looks like it might have some recording potential: http://madison.craigslist.org/msg/287060127.html

Jordan, Friday, 2 March 2007 19:20 (seventeen years ago) link

I'm going to leave work early, dudes. Have a great weekend!!

sweet tater, Friday, 2 March 2007 19:22 (seventeen years ago) link

I don't want to find my first post, or any of my early posts, because they will probably seem totally dumb.

ORLY??! :-D

KitCat, Friday, 2 March 2007 19:22 (seventeen years ago) link

Well, no more dumb than any of my other posts I guess! :D

dan m, Friday, 2 March 2007 19:23 (seventeen years ago) link

This vendor won't stop harassing me for money, even though I have no control over when he gets paid. I usually have no idea until a check or draw actually hit my desk. Plus, both bosses are out, as is the accountant. Leave me alone! I don't know! I basically told him as much. Then he wrote me again asking when he'd see payment. I don't know! I don't know! I still don't know!

KitCat, Friday, 2 March 2007 19:24 (seventeen years ago) link

I bet he calls me sometime later this afternoon or comes in the office with the same question.
I understand people wanting to be paid but this particular company is a huge pain in the neck. I have told them a million times I can't help them and given them the names/numbers for the project manager and accountant. They'd prefer to just bother me though.

KitCat, Friday, 2 March 2007 19:26 (seventeen years ago) link

Ok, I'll stop talking about it. I promise.

KitCat, Friday, 2 March 2007 19:26 (seventeen years ago) link

What genre of music can you not tolerate?

most electronic and dance music. or anything that is horribly repetitive.

Jeff on Friday, April 27, 2001 7:00 PM (5 years ago)

ha ha ha. I was stupid.

Jeff, Friday, 2 March 2007 19:27 (seventeen years ago) link

Wow 2001. You've got me beat. I wonder when Nick started posting. I know it was way before I did. ILM was his thing.

KitCat, Friday, 2 March 2007 19:28 (seventeen years ago) link

I'm still going through the older threads. If only I could sort by date. And erase Jeff Buckly from existence.

Jeff, Friday, 2 March 2007 19:29 (seventeen years ago) link

IMO there's a good argument to be made for erasing Jeff Buckley from existence besides making it easier to find your first post.

dan m, Friday, 2 March 2007 19:31 (seventeen years ago) link

This is my very first geeky post.

Personally, I love Rock n' Roll. "Kenny G ain't got no soul, John Coltrane is rock & roll"...pure entertainment. Plus, it's catchy as hell, and I have a soft spot for any MC who is willing to start screaming (and reference Nina Simone in the same song).

Jordan, Friday, 2 March 2007 19:34 (seventeen years ago) link

I think this was my first ILE post:

Soul Vegetarian! Yes!

Oddly enough, some of my favorite restaurants in Chicago tend to be veggie places with a religious aspect to them. Especially the Buddhist joints, like Victory's Banner (for breakfast), Amitabul, and the new, delicious Alice & Friends.

I'll also third Andie's -- it is a shade better than Reza's, methinks.

That was on my (ex) ex-girlfriend's birthday, coincidentally.

Jordan, Friday, 2 March 2007 19:35 (seventeen years ago) link

i have no idea what my first post was. No recollection at all. I'm sure it was on ILM, though.

kenan, Friday, 2 March 2007 19:37 (seventeen years ago) link

And I think this is my first ILM post:

Hey nabisco, et al. -- how come no Pitchfork writers voted in the Pazz & Jop? Seems like writing for the site should be make you far more reputable than some of the freelancers they get lists from. Then again, I don't know what's involved in submitting a list.

Partially, I bring it up cuz I feel like PFM writers could have some sway. At least Enon, who put out such a fun record (#15 on Pitchfork's year-end), wouldn't have to languish at #733 (!!) on P&J02.

First thread I ever started

jaymc, Friday, 2 March 2007 19:40 (seventeen years ago) link

I can't find my first post. It was after I found my name encoded by John in a conversation about the Ditty Bops.

Eazy, Friday, 2 March 2007 19:40 (seventeen years ago) link

That's a very jaymc post.

Jordan, Friday, 2 March 2007 19:42 (seventeen years ago) link

This was the first thread I started on ILE!

Eazy, Friday, 2 March 2007 19:42 (seventeen years ago) link

HEY I remember that, Eric!

I don't remember my first post, either. It might have been after the BYOM bday party, or right before.

Jenny, Friday, 2 March 2007 19:50 (seventeen years ago) link

Did somebody say The Ditty Bops?

Jesus, I know ALL of you!

I won't even say what I was googling to end up at this page at 1 a.m. on a Sunday night.

Flaneur on Sunday, September 4, 2005 11:45 PM (1 year ago)

jaymc, Friday, 2 March 2007 19:51 (seventeen years ago) link

Yeah, I assumed it was this, Jenny:

It was really nice to meet everyone! You're pretty okay for a bunch of internet people.

I think this was the first ILM thread I started

jaymc, Friday, 2 March 2007 19:56 (seventeen years ago) link

lol @ "a bunch of internet people"

dan m, Friday, 2 March 2007 19:58 (seventeen years ago) link

The first thread I ever started was the one about piercing babies' ears. That might be the only one I've started, except the one on the sandbox about ominous literary gifts from dates.

Jenny, Friday, 2 March 2007 19:59 (seventeen years ago) link

I think the first one I started was about when K@t|3 and M@tt (my roomie, for those who haven't met him) were breaking up, and I was afraid I was going to have to choose sides. Thankfully, I just ignored both of them for about a month while they hated each other.

dan m, Friday, 2 March 2007 20:01 (seventeen years ago) link

I never start threads anymore.

jaymc, Friday, 2 March 2007 20:06 (seventeen years ago) link

Didn't someone like Adamrl once start a thread for excelsioring yourself?

The best song I heard by this German-rapper-sounding guy (and believe me, this is going to be embarrassing once I figure out who it is) was this great song about "she's just my friend" -- an ode to friends-with-benefits.

Flaneur on Tuesday, September 6, 2005 9:50 AM (1 year ago)

Otto von Biz Markie?

jaymc (jaymc) on Tuesday, September 6, 2005 9:52 AM (1 year ago)

Also LOL at "German-rapper-sounding guy" ... it was Rhymefest, right?

jaymc, Friday, 2 March 2007 20:07 (seventeen years ago) link

The only ILE thread I remember starting is the retarded potato cat one. There a bunch of ILM threads, most of which sunk like stones.

Jordan, Friday, 2 March 2007 20:13 (seventeen years ago) link

Oh lordy, my first post was, as far as I can tell, on the thread "ILX: Pantheon Champion (Who is yr favorite god/dess?).

Isn't it obvious? Pythia, of course, speaking of "remnants of ancient cults." I'm still waiting for them to reclaim Delphi in my honor. Wouldn't set a move-in date just yet.

Pyth on Tuesday, August 21, 2001 8:00 PM (5 years ago)

Laurel, Friday, 2 March 2007 20:15 (seventeen years ago) link

Yeah, yeah, it was Rhymefest. I was stumped for days trying to remember.

Eazy, Friday, 2 March 2007 20:19 (seventeen years ago) link

i stopped looking after 6 pages of search results with another 19 (at least) still to go but this is the earliest i could find:

my favorite place in western mass is that 170 degree turn on the mohawk trail (in adams maybe?). always fun when you forget it's there and have to go from 60 to 20 or careen off the side of the mountain.
my sister and her husband moved to bennington last fall, they live next to the war monument so pop in and see them the next time you're in the neighborhood.

i like this out of context.

chicago kevin, Friday, 2 March 2007 20:40 (seventeen years ago) link

In as much as I wish bodily harm on anybody, I wish it on Billy Crystal.

When Jeff and I got home last night all drunk we watched the Cosby Show and it was surprisingly enjoyable. Also, my supervising attorney was at the live TAL show last night, too, which is kind of weird but hopefully will make him love me enough to hire me to work here.

talking to a friend and then to some dude about the relative expectations of the bulls and celtics. then i almost hit a dude because he would rather listen to the clash than the johnnie taylor record the dj had on. i fucking hate that prick, i've seen him around before and he's always a douche.
