Particularly in the Scooby Doo tv movies from the late 80s, Scrappy is great at identifying evidence and then using rational thought to interpret that evidence. He does this out loud for the audience, in real time, so kids can sort of see the process that someone would go through to solve a mystery to an extent that isn't nearly as evident in the early TV shows.
