vodka + citrus works for me, although purists might bitch

Official Cheese-Filled Snack of NASCAR since 2002 (B.L.A.M.), Saturday, 7 August 2010 00:32 (thirteen years ago) link

there maybe should be a beer poll but it needs to be done ilx film/music poll style rather than being limited to 50 options.

('_') (omar little), Saturday, 7 August 2010 00:32 (thirteen years ago) link

beer poll done this way ^ would be A++++

NOT FUNNY NEEDS MORE CGI (jjjusten), Saturday, 7 August 2010 00:33 (thirteen years ago) link

oof let me recover from the metal poll for a while and then we'll see how im feeling

NOT FUNNY NEEDS MORE CGI (jjjusten), Saturday, 7 August 2010 00:34 (thirteen years ago) link

I feel like a beer poll is gonna have results that would be most frustrating to people who cared the most

iatee, Saturday, 7 August 2010 00:35 (thirteen years ago) link

Hence, its necessity.

Official Cheese-Filled Snack of NASCAR since 2002 (B.L.A.M.), Saturday, 7 August 2010 00:37 (thirteen years ago) link

heh. ya - all my favourite beers a local microbrews for the most part. i'd probably wind up voting for Heinekin or something that would otherwise be 8 or so on my list.

beer popists will vote corona and bud to a surprisingly and infuriatingly high placement

or pbr

iatee, Saturday, 7 August 2010 00:41 (thirteen years ago) link

Yeah, I know. The Ramos Fizz is basically the Dhalsim of this poll.

Official Cheese-Filled Snack of NASCAR since 2002 (B.L.A.M.), Saturday, 7 August 2010 00:42 (thirteen years ago) link

I actually did drink a Budweiser this decade -- it didn't kill me.

My totem animal is a hamburger. (WmC), Saturday, 7 August 2010 00:42 (thirteen years ago) link

i'll vote ramos fizz to the goddamn top

call all destroyer, Saturday, 7 August 2010 00:43 (thirteen years ago) link

Dude, I'll drink the hell out of some Budweiser if its ice cold and there's nothing else to drink and I'm thirsty and can be assured a TALL drink of Gatorade prior to bed.

Official Cheese-Filled Snack of NASCAR since 2002 (B.L.A.M.), Saturday, 7 August 2010 00:44 (thirteen years ago) link

but ONLY under those circumstances.

where did I place that sb oh here it is

iatee, Saturday, 7 August 2010 00:46 (thirteen years ago) link

Alright. I'm going to go have as many of these poll applicants as I can this evening.

Official Cheese-Filled Snack of NASCAR since 2002 (B.L.A.M.), Saturday, 7 August 2010 00:48 (thirteen years ago) link

yeah there should be a polite agreement that you don't get to vote against something unless you've actually had it.

NOT FUNNY NEEDS MORE CGI (jjjusten), Saturday, 7 August 2010 00:49 (thirteen years ago) link

okay so w/r/t that, it might be sorta a headache buttt

iatee, Saturday, 7 August 2010 00:54 (thirteen years ago) link

you could have 'don't know / haven't tried' as an option for each pair

iatee, Saturday, 7 August 2010 00:55 (thirteen years ago) link

otherwise people are forced to vote for something, and in this poll there's a pretty high chance that most of us haven't tried something or another. that's gonna require...24? choices instead of the regular 16, but I think it'd be worth it.

iatee, Saturday, 7 August 2010 00:56 (thirteen years ago) link

no one is "forced" to vote in these things tho!

oreo speed wiggum (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Saturday, 7 August 2010 00:59 (thirteen years ago) link

it's not like we lose ilx points for not partaking in a poll.

oreo speed wiggum (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Saturday, 7 August 2010 00:59 (thirteen years ago) link

forced in the sense that, if they have opinions on 3 of the matchups and haven't tried the other two, they either have to not vote or vote for something they're unfamiliar with

iatee, Saturday, 7 August 2010 01:00 (thirteen years ago) link

would look like:

Hard Cheeses, Berries, Eggs, Tacos
Hard Cheeses, Berries, Eggs, Chocolate
Hard Cheeses, Berries, Eggs, (Pass)
Hard Cheeses, Berries, Ice Cream, Tacos
Hard Cheeses, Berries, Ice Cream, Chocolate
Hard Cheeses, Berries, (Pass), Chocolate
Hard Cheeses, Soup, Eggs, Tacos
Hard Cheeses, Soup, Eggs, Chocolate
Hard Cheeses, Soup, (Pass), Chocolate

etc.

oreo speed wiggum (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Saturday, 7 August 2010 01:07 (thirteen years ago) link

too many cocktails in the list. i mean, sex on the beach, who drinks that?

also needs:

perry aka pear cider
wheat beer
port
alcopops

ledge, Saturday, 7 August 2010 10:05 (thirteen years ago) link

port lol u british

does alcopops include md2020?

cozen, Saturday, 7 August 2010 11:04 (thirteen years ago) link

Cider/Scrumpy/Perry is essential, it would be like leaving apples off the food poll.

More leftfield:

Fortified Wine (Buckie etc)
Amaretto
Pernod

State Attorney Foxhart Cubycheck (Billy Dods), Saturday, 7 August 2010 11:15 (thirteen years ago) link

Fortified Wine (Buckie etc)

make that "low end fortified wine" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Low-end_fortified_wine, that'll do for mad dog too. alcopops are much classier.

ledge, Saturday, 7 August 2010 11:35 (thirteen years ago) link

what are the top alcopops these days? *reminisces on news features abt 'hooch'*

cozen, Saturday, 7 August 2010 11:50 (thirteen years ago) link

breezers I guess. is smirnoff ice an alcopop?

cozen, Saturday, 7 August 2010 11:51 (thirteen years ago) link

the only one worth considering.

ledge, Saturday, 7 August 2010 11:59 (thirteen years ago) link

in the past month or so (that hadn't been listed)

san miguel
estrella damm
blue moon
sam smith's alpine lager (formerly ayingerbräu)
sam smith's wheat beer (formerly ayingerbräu Hefe Weiss)
asahi

HOOS' THE BOSS (ken c), Saturday, 7 August 2010 13:31 (thirteen years ago) link

surely the final 64 needs to come from a league (poll) from each group?

Beers
Cocktails
Wine
Spirits

and the allocation of the 64 will be based on the coefficient for each group? (based on total votes in each category's poll)

HOOS' THE BOSS (ken c), Saturday, 7 August 2010 13:36 (thirteen years ago) link

that would be 16/16/16/16 right? I don't think there are enough 'types of beer'/'types of spirits' that would be universally familiar. might work with individual beers or spirits.

would the "spirits" bracket include liqueurs?

people are for loving (HI DERE), Monday, 9 August 2010 18:13 (thirteen years ago) link

or would you just break it down like for example:

rum
tequila
vodka
gin
scotch
brandy
bourbon
whiskey
congac
schnapps
jenever
mezcal
ouzo
armagnac
chiew
applejack

i think this is just too much. an all encompassing booze poll, i mean...

the food poll was a mishmash of ingredients, specific foods, and whole dish-styles. i guess that kind of works for booze too, in some ways, since, say 'drambuie' and 'chartreuse' are brands as well as the only thing of its kind.

but man, i dunno.

goole, Monday, 9 August 2010 18:22 (thirteen years ago) link

as someone who deals with categorizing information and someone who loves to drink this is really bugging me out

goole, Monday, 9 August 2010 18:23 (thirteen years ago) link

unicum vs malört would be kind of fantastic, particularly if you had to taste-test before voting
