Is there a way to do that for everything on your screen, using Control Panel perhaps?

KitCat, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 17:57 (seventeen years ago) link

Erm, you could adjust your monitor's resolution.

dan m, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 17:57 (seventeen years ago) link

You could lower the monitor resolution.

kenan, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 17:57 (seventeen years ago) link

Right click on the desktop, go to "Appearance", then... I think... "advanced"? Or monitor or something like that. Lower your screen resolution. (But not past 1024x768, really. Lower than that, and you're going to miss something.)

One of my coworkers suddenly had all her icons, text, etc showing up EXTRA SUPER LARGE STYLEE. She wanted to know how to make it go away. I told her to go to the Appearance Settings under Display and change the text size to normal, but apparently that isn't the solution. Her text size category is set up as a default that she can't change.

KitCat, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 18:00 (seventeen years ago) link

Oh, well. Thanks. She can just have large icons for all I care anyway. HA!

KitCat, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 18:01 (seventeen years ago) link

"getting cranky need a spanky" just made me lol at my desk. Thanks, kev.

Walk my way,
And a thousand violins begin to play

kenan, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 18:35 (seventeen years ago) link

that's a lot of violins, yo. That has to be some racket.

kenan, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 18:36 (seventeen years ago) link

if you put a thousand monkeys with a thousand violins in a room for a thousand years...

chicago kevin, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 18:37 (seventeen years ago) link

the smell would be horrendous.

chicago kevin, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 18:37 (seventeen years ago) link

Actually, I don't hear violins. I hear a thousand HOT FIDDLES.

kenan, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 18:41 (seventeen years ago) link

Nick & Sarah make me hear a thousand short, catchy pop-punk ditties.

kenan, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 18:42 (seventeen years ago) link

I hope I make you hear fiery radical feminist rhetoric.

Jenny, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 18:43 (seventeen years ago) link

Actually after a thousand years the smell would probably have dried up and subsided along with the monkeys' filthy, decayed corpses. And the rats would have moved in, then out, and the dung beetles and decompositors, ditto. I predict mostly a lot of dust.

Laurel, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 18:44 (seventeen years ago) link

aw. that's what you make me hear, Jenny!

horseshoe, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 18:44 (seventeen years ago) link

Womens, I have run out of my fave BPAL oil (White Rabbit - I even bought a big one!) and I am SAD. But it does give me an excuse to order some more.

Laurel, did you get yours yet?

Jenny, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 18:44 (seventeen years ago) link

xpost to HS: Yay!

Jenny, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 18:45 (seventeen years ago) link

laurel, you don't think those monkeys would be breeding?

chicago kevin, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 18:46 (seventeen years ago) link

I want people to hear AC/DC when they're near me. Aw yeah.

kenan, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 18:46 (seventeen years ago) link

also, jenny makes me hear pitchers of beer being orderd.

chicago kevin, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 18:47 (seventeen years ago) link

But I know I make people hear gaywad sophisto-pop. I know this, and I am trying to make peace with it. I do not rock. :(

kenan, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 18:47 (seventeen years ago) link

pitchers of beer being ordered=the sweet sounds of fiery radical feminism!

horseshoe, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 18:48 (seventeen years ago) link

also, when i think of jesse i hear his voice but i hear him making absurd comments like "i invented the exclamation point" or "do you like my vest? it's made from shoelaces."

chicago kevin, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 18:48 (seventeen years ago) link

ha!

horseshoe, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 18:49 (seventeen years ago) link

also, jenny makes me hear pitchers of beer being orderd.

Chicago Kevin, I love you!

And yes, beer often always leads to fiery radical feminist rhetoric.

Jenny, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 18:52 (seventeen years ago) link

Dr. Evil: The details of my life are quite inconsequential... very well, where do I begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. My childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds- pretty standard really. At the age of twelve I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum... it's breathtaking- I highly suggest you try it.
