Thank you for the welcome. I'm not sure where is the best place to go for drinks - any suggestions would be welcome, or we could just stroll around until we find a place.

o. nate (onate), Friday, 20 August 2004 12:59 (nineteen years ago) link

I was thinking somewhere like The Palace, because that's where we went with the Pinefox.

To some extent we just need to go somewhere to kill time till Irene gets in from her badger-baiting.

DV (dirtyvicar), Friday, 20 August 2004 13:12 (nineteen years ago) link

there is talk of September 27th

the neurotic awakening of s (blueski), Friday, 20 August 2004 14:44 (nineteen years ago) link

Is this happening NOW?

the finefox, Friday, 20 August 2004 15:30 (nineteen years ago) link

Finefox - in a couple of minutes I will slouch from my office down to meet this O.Nate fellow.

DV (dirtyvicar), Friday, 20 August 2004 15:47 (nineteen years ago) link

And what Dirty Vicar

Slouches towards Trinity

To be drunk

?

the finefox, Friday, 20 August 2004 15:49 (nineteen years ago) link

What is Dublin's weather like?

I am going to want a report on the state of THE PALACE BAR, in CAMDEN STREET, I mean, FLEET STREET.

the finefox, Friday, 20 August 2004 15:53 (nineteen years ago) link

ah now, ah now.

DV (dirtyvicar), Friday, 20 August 2004 16:04 (nineteen years ago) link

The Palace on FLEET STREET is packed so we are going to tha aptly named Temple Bar in Temple Bar. I am about to leave my office. Apparently this O.Nate fellow is American!

Weather: sunny, breezy, bloody cold with a propensity towards rain.

Lara (Lara), Friday, 20 August 2004 16:53 (nineteen years ago) link

Here, it is a downpour!

I can't believe it is sunny in Dublin. I half wish I were there.

the finefox, Friday, 20 August 2004 17:17 (nineteen years ago) link

I bet they are still in the pub.

It must be good.

the finefox, Friday, 20 August 2004 20:26 (nineteen years ago) link

Thanks to all who came out for showing me such a fun evening last night. Dublin ILXors are the best. I hope I can come back sometime soon.

o. nate (onate), Saturday, 21 August 2004 17:58 (nineteen years ago) link

was there a saturday night FAP too?

I am going for more booze now.

DV (dirtyvicar), Sunday, 22 August 2004 09:27 (nineteen years ago) link

More booze? Where??

the finefox, Sunday, 22 August 2004 11:39 (nineteen years ago) link

No, unfortunately, there was no Saturday night FAP. I slept in rather late on Saturday (hmm, wonder why?) and frittered away the afternoon in a disorganized fashion and by the time I got to an Internet terminal, it was too late to make any plans or contact anyone.

o. nate (onate), Sunday, 22 August 2004 16:17 (nineteen years ago) link

Excellent to meet you on Friday, Nate! I hope you enjoyed the rest of your time in the City of Rain.

Pintfox: we were at a wedding reception on Saturday in CLONTARF CASTLE. And we walked all the way home afterwards.

rener (rener), Monday, 23 August 2004 08:52 (nineteen years ago) link

I am sorry I didn't make it to the pint-up. I have recently relocated to my parents' house in Swords (near the airport) prior to re-relocating to Laytown. It is hard for me to muster up any energy after the commute these days, although in six months or so I should have it figured out.

accentmonkey (accentmonkey), Monday, 23 August 2004 10:11 (nineteen years ago) link

Clontarf Castle has a TEMPLARS BAR in it!

DV (dirtyvicar), Monday, 23 August 2004 11:25 (nineteen years ago) link

four weeks pass...
Anyone up for a mini-fap/drink-fest the evening of Friday the 24th? I'm going to be in town for a couple of days and would be thrilled to have drinks with the friendly ILE folks of Dublin again.

o. nate (onate), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 14:25 (nineteen years ago) link

that's this friday? oooh. maybe... although I am paradoxically a bit skint but also contemplating a trip to the National Concert Hall to see some Stravinsky thing.

DV (dirtyvicar), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 14:30 (nineteen years ago) link

ah nuts I am away again! my sister is getting married this weekend.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 14:37 (nineteen years ago) link

what, again?

maybe the rest of us could go out in my new hood, the trendy village quarter! we could take in some tapas at havana and then quaff hearty Guinnesses in the very pub that Clinton had a pint in.

DV (dirtyvicar), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 14:51 (nineteen years ago) link

i'd probably be up for this. i'm not working on friday.

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 14:52 (nineteen years ago) link

Hey, that sounds pretty good. If it was good enough for Bill, then it's good enough for me.

o. nate (onate), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 14:53 (nineteen years ago) link

I'll see if any of Lara, Rener, or Andrew are on for any of this.

DV (dirtyvicar), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 15:45 (nineteen years ago) link

count me in!

rener (rener), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 15:48 (nineteen years ago) link

I'm about on Friday. I have some people coming over from the UK but the groups could converge (making wide political debate more interesting cos we Dubliners love serious talk, right?).

Nate - have you taken root here??!

Lara (Lara), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 15:50 (nineteen years ago) link

No, it's just another business trip. My company is keeping me going back and forth lately.

o. nate (onate), Tuesday, 21 September 2004 16:52 (nineteen years ago) link

That must be terrible :-)!

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 08:00 (nineteen years ago) link

Well, the being in Dublin part is nice - but it's kind of a pain to go straight from the office to the plane and then to the other office, without even having a shower or much of a nap in between. But that's just the way the flight schedule works out, so I can't really hold it against them.

o. nate (onate), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 14:03 (nineteen years ago) link

Oh, I think you should. I've just emailed you my work email and phone number.

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 19:38 (nineteen years ago) link

Sorry I am not being active on this thread... I am busy at work and stuff.

on friday - how about we meet at 6.00, say at the big arch on Stephen's Green across from the top of Grafton Street?

DV (dirtyvicar), Thursday, 23 September 2004 08:58 (nineteen years ago) link

you mean Traitor's Gate? (NB: no-one in Dublin apart from leftie mentalists actually calls it that)

rener (rener), Thursday, 23 September 2004 09:40 (nineteen years ago) link

I won't be free that early; I'll come and find you later. What about hanging out in Anseo during the evening? Silly choons and nice comfy seats...

Lara (Lara), Thursday, 23 September 2004 12:10 (nineteen years ago) link

That meeting place sounds good, DV, though I might have trouble getting away that early. Can we say 6:30 instead?

That would be great if you could join us, Lara. I didn't get your e-mail. Did you send it to my yahoo e-mail?

o. nate (onate), Thursday, 23 September 2004 12:37 (nineteen years ago) link

6.30 is kewl.

Lara, we can meet up by the magic of SMS text messaging. ditto Rener.

Kilian, can you be at the arch at 6.30 or do we need some other arrangement?

DV (dirtyvicar), Thursday, 23 September 2004 14:45 (nineteen years ago) link

I sent it to syne_wave@yahoo.com. I'll email that address from work tomorrow. I've sent it again...

Lara (Lara), Thursday, 23 September 2004 17:45 (nineteen years ago) link

6.30 is ok by me.

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Thursday, 23 September 2004 22:26 (nineteen years ago) link

OK, see you all at 6:30. I got the e-mail this time, Lara. Thanks.

o. nate (onate), Friday, 24 September 2004 08:08 (nineteen years ago) link

sorry folks, something has come up and i may not be able to make it. if i'm not there at half6 on the dot, head on without me...

weasel diesel (K1l14n), Friday, 24 September 2004 12:21 (nineteen years ago) link

Hope you can make it, Kilian. It would be great to meet you.

o. nate (onate), Friday, 24 September 2004 13:17 (nineteen years ago) link

exciting.

'leftie mentalists'

the finefox, Friday, 24 September 2004 15:04 (nineteen years ago) link

I am considering visiting Dublin. Probably in November. Is this a good idea. ?.

Ally C (Ally C), Friday, 24 September 2004 15:11 (nineteen years ago) link

november 4th?

lauren (laurenp), Friday, 24 September 2004 15:18 (nineteen years ago) link

It could be 5th-8th or 18th/19th-22nd. What's good?

Ally C (Ally C), Friday, 24 September 2004 15:28 (nineteen years ago) link

I'm not sure what it's like here in November, but I think the winters tend to be relatively mild.

For those meeting this evening, I'll probably be there 15 minutes early or so. Things weren't as hectic here as I thought they'd be. I'm leaving now to drop off a few things where I'm staying, then I'll be on my way over.

o. nate (onate), Friday, 24 September 2004 15:32 (nineteen years ago) link

I suppose it could be 4th, too, actually. Have fun Dubliners!

Ally C (Ally C), Friday, 24 September 2004 15:34 (nineteen years ago) link

I have to do some very important things, so I won't be at the arch till 6.30.

DV (dirtyvicar), Friday, 24 September 2004 15:39 (nineteen years ago) link

later - Nate, I hope our lapse into drunken chat about people you've never heard of didn't spell your night. Safe journey!

DV (dirtyvicar), Saturday, 25 September 2004 15:37 (nineteen years ago) link

Anyway, sorry to miss you, Mr/Ms Parker.

The Real Dirty Vicar, Thursday, 17 May 2007 22:05 (seventeen years ago) link

Ha ha @ Fitzsimons. Horrible place.

I got there too late Milton. The place was shut at 10:45! Hope it went well. Hope to catch you next time for pints and things.

four months pass...

Does anyone remember the Pinefox? He will soon be in Dublin.

The Real Dirty Vicar, Friday, 28 September 2007 12:49 (sixteen years ago) link

Savage. Would be good seeing him again. When?
