the first time i did this i didn't peel them - total disaster. i had to thaw them (defeating the whole purpose of freezing) and the peel didn't come off properly.

My shitty blender doesn't even have a top and it does this just fine. Sure I have to stop it and start it a couple times but I get perfect fro yo consistency banana stuff every time. It's pretty much the easiest thing in the world.

"At last, a practice space opens up for Tetreault. Percussionists warm up on a glockenspiel for 10 minutes in one practice room, then move to the next for the xylophone. As they get ready, the auditioners are battling their nerves. The calmest eat bananas, which are supposedly full of natural beta blockers."

all this talk of things that are like ice cream is crazy. ice cream is like ice cream. frozen grapes and bananas are like frozen grapes and bananas. they're not even as good as nice, fresh, unfrozen grapes and bananas.

ha x-post but ice craem otm. It's really uncanny. If you add stuff to it it's even more amazing.
Or if you want a dip for crudités, use a 2% or non-fat Greek yogurt infused with herbs or spices you like.

gonna freeze and puree bananas today, tbh.
am still skeptical tho. i think i am just a lot more ice cream sensitive than you all.
― contenderizer, Tuesday, 17 July 2012 21:00 (eleven years ago) link
frankly i'm shocked that contenderizer would choose to pedantically point out that pureed frozen fruit could never taste exactly like ice cream

there's a vegan ice cream place that does a really good facsimile of ice cream... unless the secret ingredient is ice cream.

― lag∞n, Tuesday, 17 July 2012 21:08 (eleven years ago) link
Vegan ice cream is pretty simple, because the creamy mouthfeel is just whipped & emulsified saturated fat. Coconut oil is about as saturated as dairy fat (and probably similarly unhealthy) and works just fine.

there are a few diff brands making coconut-milk based ice-cream-like frozen desserts now
despite having no dairy or soy they are just/almost as sugary and fatty as real ice cream so not really "healthy"

i'm not all that sold on bananas being super-healthy either. like if you ate nothing but bananas i bet you'd get yonabetes.
