What game is everyone going to? Hockey?

Are you guys working tomorrow, cause I have the day off. I will be getting my hair cut at Bang! in the afternoon if anyone is free for lunch/coffee/sniffing glue/etc.

Mary (Mary), Friday, 23 December 2005 06:44 (eighteen years ago) link

You guys...I'm not worth the trouble.

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 23 December 2005 14:06 (eighteen years ago) link

Fiddlesticks!

TOMBOT, Friday, 23 December 2005 14:14 (eighteen years ago) link

Merry Christmas to you TOMBOT, my brother in Christ. May this year's blessing be abundant!

Spink, Friday, 23 December 2005 14:20 (eighteen years ago) link

I blacked out - when I came to, I was hitting the Submit button.

Spink, Friday, 23 December 2005 14:25 (eighteen years ago) link

TOMBOT/Allylame, you guys are welcome to come up tomorrow(xmas eve) to have dinner at my place if you dont have anything going on. I got the shaft @ Heavenly Ham and had to get a larger one than I intended. Luke, Anthony, Brian, and maybe another couple people *should* be coming.

Either way, theres an invitiation.

Spink, Friday, 23 December 2005 14:32 (eighteen years ago) link

WE SHOULD DRINK.

Is there any consensus yet on where and when?

j.lu (j.lu), Friday, 23 December 2005 14:36 (eighteen years ago) link

I would love to come to dinner but I think there would be some controversy checking that guest list. :( Dude I make some wicked food for Christmas Eve though for reals. If we can't come to dinner do you guys wanna hang at a later date next week? What are you guys doing New Year's weekend?

drinking tonight is proving problematic because Nick has late evening commitments and I might have an early evening commitment, so we might be definitely missing one another :( BUT if you guys wanna work out an afterwork drinking thang don't let me be holding you guys up. I'm sure I will see everyone again in the near future!

"I got the shaft @ Heavenly Ham"=most promising Penthouse letter title ever.

Wish I was in town to join y'all. A merry drinking to all and to all a Heavenly Ham.

Stephen X (Stephen X), Friday, 23 December 2005 15:36 (eighteen years ago) link

Whatever, yo. You're invited regardless. Scratch Anthony off the list...he's half way to VA Beach by now.

Spink, Friday, 23 December 2005 15:40 (eighteen years ago) link

Man I knew he was gonna bail town, I actually just said that to Tom last night, "No way is Anthony gonna be around this weekend or next." Which reminds me, Tom did you get in touch with Josh and Liberty? Whenever you read ths thread, it's a reminder.

I AM AT WORK ON A COMPANY HOLIDAY BOOOOOOOO!

On the upside, a friend got me a bottle of crazy good tequila for my birfday.

On the downside, I failed to bring it to work with me, so I'm gonna have to wait until I get home to booze my cares away.

quincie, Friday, 23 December 2005 16:16 (eighteen years ago) link

Meh.

Im going to go pick up my sub from Mona. Without being racist, of course...she is the first 6'5" Korean lady I have EVER met.

Spink, Friday, 23 December 2005 16:23 (eighteen years ago) link

whoa!! Awesome. I should go stop by my coffee shop before I leave for Christmas and say hello to the guy that works there (speaking of Koreans, I guess).

I'll post my schedule update once I have my evening commitment straightened out, and then we'll come up with some BIG PLANS.

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 23 December 2005 16:52 (eighteen years ago) link

I've been off since Wednesday, and lemme tell ya folks, it's been a non-stop bacchanal of awesomeness. Sleeping in! Laundry! Christmas shopping! RAWK!

TOMBOT, Friday, 23 December 2005 18:29 (eighteen years ago) link

Northeast is fun! It's a magical place where men stop dead in their tracks to open doors for me, offer me gifts, and compliment me endlessly! I am going to move there, very soon.

I'm beginning to wonder just how feasible it will be to meet up with you guys while I'm hear. :( My friend won't get back to me with definite plans for tonight and tomorrow is xmas eve and then it's xmas and then I leave. I should have planned this out better. All hope is not lost yet but it's pretty close. Sorry.

OK. I will be at a bar at 11th and Kenyon tonight after 9:30, if anyone wants to stop by and try and find me. I don't know what it is called or anything. I will be wearing this sweater:

My mom's friend tried to get me to go carolling with her daugher.

I just back from DC and I think I need a bit more time to grow into this new pageboy haircut.

Also, I feel a bit sick so I think I will just wrap presents and make Christmas mixes and watch Veronica Mars and try to avoid carollers.

Have fun though, all, if you meet up. Nick, I'm sorry to miss you and your argyle sweater.

I went to Busboys & Poets today; it's actually kind of cool there. They have good children's books. And they gave me a free capaccino for no reason.

Mary (Mary), Friday, 23 December 2005 23:38 (eighteen years ago) link

(Note: I don't actually expect any of you to show up.)

n/a (Nick A.), Saturday, 24 December 2005 00:07 (eighteen years ago) link

Do you mean Santana Moss?

Northeast is fun! It's a magical place where men stop dead in their tracks to open doors for me, offer me gifts, and compliment me endlessly! I am going to move there, very soon.

I live in Northeast. It's a whole other world out here, you drive across that bridge at H Street and realize nobody who lives in NW ever comes over. Most of the time people are very nice, even the drunk guy up the street, although I didn't stop to chat..

dar1a g (daria g), Saturday, 24 December 2005 01:39 (eighteen years ago) link

going East over that bridge for the first time really feels like an adventure

ALL OF YOU WHO DID NOT SHOW UP TO WONDERLAND TONITE = LAME.
also everybody else except for a couple of Nick's friends who showed up to wonderland tonite = lame. Not including obviously me, ally, n/a.
wtf that bar's location, milieu and clientele make absolutely no rational sense whatsoever. HEY! it's the bar in DC that has expensive beers that you have to DRIVE TO! wtf is the asylum THAT DIFFICULT?

Also no, not santana moss. randy moss.

TOMBOT, Saturday, 24 December 2005 05:52 (eighteen years ago) link

It's a good name though. How is Bar Pilar? Lame?

Mary (Mary), Saturday, 24 December 2005 08:48 (eighteen years ago) link

Okay on weeknights, kind of a toolshed on weekends.

The Saint-Ex owner claims he opened Bar P so he'd have a bar he wanted to drink in. Simpler solution: Start openly antagonizing your most annoying Saint-Ex customers until they leave. Or hire me to antagonize them for you.

Stephen X (Stephen X), Saturday, 24 December 2005 09:49 (eighteen years ago) link

Thanks for coming, Tom and Ally, it was good to see you guys and not have to act like I remembered people I don't know. Ariel and I went to Metro 29 diner after, that place is bizarre.

n/a (Nick A.), Saturday, 24 December 2005 15:02 (eighteen years ago) link

I thought the bar was fine, if fucking loud, but obv. I don't have a grasp of the location issues and scene politics.

MERRY X-MAS EVE EVERYONE I AM AT WORK BAAAAAAAH!

On the upside: I remembered to bring booze with me this time.

On the downside: this is my second attempt at coming in to work today. On my first attempt, I pulled up to my Rockville office only to realize that I left my access card hanging on the doorknob at home. No one (and I mean NO ONE) is stupid enough to be here besides me, so I had to drive back to dc to get my card to actually get into my fucking office FUCK ME!!!!

quincie, Saturday, 24 December 2005 18:59 (eighteen years ago) link

quincie, that is laaaaaaaaaaame and you owe it to yourself to get productively hammered. sorry i didn't show last night; pete and i were seeing friends in from colorado and then i had to go meet up with some beloved former coworkers at the brickskeller. i consumed several exotic russian beers that i really didn't need. but merry xmas to everybody.

ZR (teenagequiet), Saturday, 24 December 2005 19:33 (eighteen years ago) link

Is anyone going to Midnight Mass? I feel strangely in the mood for some pomp and circumstance this year. National Gallery is sold out but Shrine of the Immaculate Conception is available. But my sister doesn't arrive tonight till around 6 so I'm not sure she'll be in the mood to worship the baby Jesus. Also, did you know that midnight mass is no longer at midnight? Both the above are at 10.30. Wash Post ran an article today explaining. There are some hold-outs though. I don't know, I think Midnight Mass is maybe the coolest thing about the Catholic Church? Do other denominations have midnight services?

Mary (Mary), Saturday, 24 December 2005 19:35 (eighteen years ago) link

poor wee quincie. do not work tomorrow!

mookieproof (mookieproof), Saturday, 24 December 2005 19:44 (eighteen years ago) link

I DO IN FACT HAVE TO WORK TOMORROW MOOKIE I R SO FUCKED!

Mary, the Episcopalians do midnight mass. Three quarters of the congregation is drunk by then, of course.

quincie, Saturday, 24 December 2005 20:17 (eighteen years ago) link

Q, that's so wrong! I think this calls for some serious workplace drinking. Then expense the cab fare home.

Stephen X (Stephen X), Saturday, 24 December 2005 20:32 (eighteen years ago) link

Fuck the Skins.

TOMBOT, Saturday, 24 December 2005 23:45 (eighteen years ago) link

It's quarter of seven on christmas eve and I'm all alone in a Rockville office park, tipsy on flat champagne. Surely I should kill myself?

quincie, Saturday, 24 December 2005 23:46 (eighteen years ago) link

oops, shit, should i have google-proofed that?

river wolf, Monday, 1 October 2007 19:54 (sixteen years ago) link

If any scruffy bros would like to perform manual labor in rural central Texas, we're hoping to break ground in the next few weeks on a lodge/B&B thing on the Llano River.

milo z, Monday, 1 October 2007 19:59 (sixteen years ago) link

wait i am a scruffy bro interested in manual labor

river wolf, Monday, 1 October 2007 19:59 (sixteen years ago) link

Marfa? I wanna go to Marfa. That's not central is it

Mr. Que, Monday, 1 October 2007 20:05 (sixteen years ago) link

no need to googleproof it, they won't be playing with their regular farfisa/bass player (and my upstairs neighbor) mike, the bass player from the hipshakes is filling in instead but they're still great.

milo, i'm in.

chicago kevin, Monday, 1 October 2007 20:07 (sixteen years ago) link

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Llano,+TX&ie=UTF8&t=k&z=13&om=1

Follow 29 west out of Llano until it hits CR-102, follow CR-102 all the way to the river. You are now on 20 fine acres of scrub, limestone, cactii and snakes. Bring kayaks.

milo z, Monday, 1 October 2007 20:14 (sixteen years ago) link

is it really pronounced LAN-no?

gabbneb, Monday, 1 October 2007 20:15 (sixteen years ago) link

Aside from the worst Pizza Hut on Earth and a Subway, every restaurant in town (all five of them) is some kind of BBQ. Llano being the deer capital of Texas, there are numerous places to have your take slaughtered and turned into jerky if you so desire.

xp - Proper Spanish pronunciation is probably different, but that's how I've heard everyone else pronounce it.

milo z, Monday, 1 October 2007 20:16 (sixteen years ago) link

every restaurant in town (all five of them) is some kind of BBQ.

i don't see this as a bad thing.

chicago kevin, Monday, 1 October 2007 20:18 (sixteen years ago) link

That's part of my sales pitch.

milo z, Monday, 1 October 2007 20:19 (sixteen years ago) link

http://www.coopersbbq.com/ - only way this place could get better is if they added baked potatoes or something rather than potato salad or chips.
