I quite liked the fish and chip one. Is like tasty greasy offspring of Scampi Fries and Walker's roast chicken. It's that or the onion bhaji, for me.
The chili and chocolate ones were so disgusting that none of the six people who tried the packet I bought wanted more than one of them.
And I haven't seen single packets of the builder's breakfast for sale anywhere.

The duck one was beyond foul, couldn't bring myself to buy the chilli and chocolate. Quite liked the squirrel one and bought it on several occasions, but it was an old-skool synthetic 'tastes nothing like the real thing' crisp.
― McDonaldinho (Matt DC), Thursday, 19 March 2009 13:49 (fifteen years ago) link
Yeah, the squirrel one is the least offensive. Builder's Breakfast is disturbingly authentic.
― Number None, Thursday, 19 March 2009 13:56 (fifteen years ago) link
This is verrah odd.
C&C was the one that got the general thumbs up. Duck/Hoisin was most favouritted, followed by Cajun Squirrel.
Onion B isn't too bad either.
― Mark G, Thursday, 19 March 2009 13:58 (fifteen years ago) link
F&C was considered "rank!", did we get a bad packet you reckon?
will be v disappointed if onion bhaji doesn't win the nationwide poll.

are the various flavours in BB mixed together, or does one crisp taste like egg, another bacon, another ketchup etc? i couldn't work it out.

only tried the Fish&Chips and Breakfast ones - both pretty good

or does one crisp taste like egg, another bacon, another ketchup etc
can you imagine the logistics in trying to get that to work?
― ledge, Thursday, 19 March 2009 14:42 (fifteen years ago) link
well how do they organise packets of Haribo star mix? same principle
― Hard House SugBanton (blueski), Thursday, 19 March 2009 14:46 (fifteen years ago) link
i imagine crisps as being more fragile and less amenable to proper mixing techniques.

Made me think of Scampi Fries too. The only other one I've tried was Builder's Breakfast, but have no idea what this tasted like or what it was supposed to taste like.

Fish & Chips the best of all the ones I've tried - nice and vinegary. Cajun squirrel and Hoisin Duck a bit meh.Builders' Breakfast - just tried these today and they are freakishly realistic. Although somehow not very nice at the same time. And I say this as a fan of both crisps and breakfasts...
― Not the real Village People, Sunday, 22 March 2009 17:15 (fifteen years ago) link
I guess I will vote for fish+chips here (where it is important to represent against the haterz) and onion bhaji in the real thing (where it is important that whichever is more popular out the 2 flavours I wd actually buy again wins, and chilli and chocolate is not allowed to keep existing, honestly get that thing onto the culinary disasters thread now)
(except I think you're allowed to text in more than once in the Walkers vote so that doesn't make much sense, but that's not exactly a first for my posts)

cajun squirrel is pretty bland

Srsly, these are all repellent, and the duck is the most disgusting of the lot. Walker's food technicians really blew this out.
― Bill A, Friday, 15 May 2009 07:52 (fifteen years ago) link
Nah mate onion bhaji were great.
It sounds tough, but the remaining five flavours will be taken off the shelves

duck was disgusting but loved the fish and chips. sad to hear its disappearing :(

The fish and chips one I had was absolutely disgusting, we chucked the pack after Alice and I tried one crisp each, and Amber wouldn;t go anywhere near them.
Was it a bad pack?
― Mark G, Friday, 15 May 2009 12:24 (fifteen years ago) link
Fish and chips was horrible, you and Amber did good. But I dislike those Sacmpi Fries you get down the pub, so I can see how tastes would vary.
I'm not happy about ONion Bhaji going, that's the only flavour I would actually, you know, buy.
― NotEnough, Friday, 15 May 2009 12:35 (fifteen years ago) link
Crispy duck was one I could say "isn't done elsewhere", along with the Chili/choc one.
They need to publish the results, damnit.

the northern europe 6-pack in sainsburys aren't vegetarian friendly. dunno if that's all three flavours or only some of them. had the sweet chutney and the kangaroo. both tasted like oddly flavoured crisps.
