Glad they made it decisively clear that we won't be returning to Annville!

Also props to the music supervisor, song choices have been A+ throughout

American Gods scratches a very similar itch to Preacher in a classier way imo.

chap, Tuesday, 6 June 2017 09:07 (seven years ago) link

You appear to have gotten lost.

Andrew Farrell, Tuesday, 6 June 2017 12:08 (seven years ago) link

lol at the slightly desperate-sounding 'FROM THE CO-EXECUTIVE PRODUCER OF BREAKING BAD'

tbh i'd totally forgotten this existed after being underwhelmed by the first episode - should i give it another shot?

First season a total muddle but a fairly enjoyable one.

xpost YES! it's fun & weird & I enjoyed it

No one else watching then?

Forgot just how brutal (and fun) this show can be.

The main plot is still on a very slow burn though.

groovypanda, Thursday, 20 July 2017 07:33 (seven years ago) link

Undecided as to whether to put the time in.

chap, Thursday, 20 July 2017 09:16 (seven years ago) link

I am still watching & enjoying

but yeah the plot is definitely on a slow drip

Yoni Loves Chocha (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 20 July 2017 14:08 (seven years ago) link

I felt like the season premiere had a lot more movement but it's definitely crawling now

mh, Thursday, 20 July 2017 14:17 (seven years ago) link

Liking S2 despite the admitted drip drip after first, second ep. Also enjoying trainspotting some NOLA locations I'm familiar with. The first bar they go into to find god is Fritzel's on the east, more quiet side of Bourbon. It's one of my faves! Pretty sure there's no basement with god-dog drepavity happening, but who knows! The MUNICH 1919 cafe where young artist Hitler chats with Elsa is Croissant D'Or on Ursulines.

andrew m., Thursday, 20 July 2017 15:44 (seven years ago) link

second ep was fantastic, domestic life montage in ep4 was a+ as well. honestly feel like this is the best thing going right now unless game of thrones turns it up.

Larry Elleison (rogermexico.), Thursday, 20 July 2017 16:04 (seven years ago) link

They're juggling two forces stalking Jesse now, and we've had no movement on either for a couple episodes. I guess the Saint of Killers is hot on his trail again, though!
(And also seems to have double-solved the divorce thing)

Odd as the source material is generally very plot-driven (the odd tedious digression aside).

have they put in a john wayne ghost yet

This week's episode with Starr was an absolute blast.

Starr definitely the highlight this season.

Looking like season 3 is almost certainly going to happen so hoping we get to meet TC and co next season

Great job getting Betty Buckley, she's going to be the star of this season.

Much as I like the title of this thread, I would have called it What Up, Ruth Negga?

With only two episodes to go, it looks like they're only just introducing plotlines I thought they were skipping. Pacing is all over the shop.

So, your CV says you're a (checks notes) DJ and stand-up comedian (aldo), Thursday, 19 September 2019 22:17 (five years ago) link

I kind of got bored and wandered off around episode 3... suppose I’ll finish it eventually but zzzz

I got bored when I heard they were adapting Preacher for television.

Furter-Bursting Tater Squirter (Old Lunch), Tuesday, 1 October 2019 21:05 (five years ago) link

And … FIN! Thought it ended well. Glad they kept the Saint of Killers ending, along using a John Wayne epilogue in lieu of Jesse and Tulip riding off into the sunset. Appreciated that they wrapped up Cassidy, too, and how that went down. Reminded me slightly of one scene from Harold & Maude. Also glad they kept the Cassidy / Tulip romance, but didn't go the comic's junkie prisoner route.

Favorite part of the comic was the reveal of Jesse's mom, so wished they'd added that into the second season, but overall a good adaptation of the comics, and happy with it.

RIP Humperdoo.

I thought it ended pretty well too. Not sure why Cassidy stepped into the light at the end, though. Was he just done with it all?

I never read the comic...

i'm glad this got made because i sold my full run of the series for like $200
