he does do that a lot, but he's been pretty focused this set! i mean the general roller coaster nature of the set, the bizarre decision to serve and volley on SECOND SERVES against the best returner of all time, the drop shots, the court coverage, the crazy angles...this is what makes him so exciting to watch

i'm pulling for him

also, i am now noticing for the first time something that dfw pointed out in one of his tennis essays: the pros really do have hypertrophic serving/favored arms!

jason waterfalls (gbx), Friday, 9 September 2016 21:14 (seven years ago) link

oh yeah they're huge, any semi-serious player will have hypertrophic forearm muscles but the pros, if you ever see them in person, are alien-like

monfils is such a ham

what in the heck

jason waterfalls (gbx), Friday, 9 September 2016 21:27 (seven years ago) link

uh oh, novak calling the trainer now

mcenroe is still bagging on monfils!

there's no quit in this young man

mookieproof, Saturday, 10 September 2016 00:42 (seven years ago) link

mookieproof, Saturday, 10 September 2016 01:16 (seven years ago) link

stan/novak is the most boring semi result :(

have you ever even read The Drudge Report? Have you gone on Stormfron (k3vin k.), Saturday, 10 September 2016 04:39 (seven years ago) link

who doesn't think kerber will win the third set 6-1 or something

imago, Saturday, 10 September 2016 21:47 (seven years ago) link

I don't

mookieproof, Saturday, 10 September 2016 21:50 (seven years ago) link

hmm you're right

imago, Saturday, 10 September 2016 21:55 (seven years ago) link

was some wishful thinking tbh, pliskova has a really, really dull game

imago, Saturday, 10 September 2016 22:00 (seven years ago) link

the fuck are these unforced errors

imago, Saturday, 10 September 2016 22:03 (seven years ago) link

this is more like it, brilliant hold

imago, Saturday, 10 September 2016 22:16 (seven years ago) link

and there's the collapse. took longer than i thought, but the way pliskova celebrated getting to 4-4 as if she'd won the whole thing...didn't get another point

imago, Saturday, 10 September 2016 22:28 (seven years ago) link

broken at love is a tough way to lose

imago, Saturday, 10 September 2016 22:42 (seven years ago) link

jason waterfalls (gbx), Saturday, 10 September 2016 22:43 (seven years ago) link

she and whoever wins tomorrow should keep 300k and split the rest amongst the tour

imago, Saturday, 10 September 2016 22:45 (seven years ago) link

i turn this on for one minute and it's the best point ever lol

imago, Sunday, 11 September 2016 21:18 (seven years ago) link

mookieproof, Sunday, 11 September 2016 22:46 (seven years ago) link

imago, Sunday, 11 September 2016 23:00 (seven years ago) link

johnny crunch, Sunday, 11 September 2016 23:16 (seven years ago) link

probably gonna dream about stan's down-the-line backhands 2nite

mookieproof, Sunday, 11 September 2016 23:28 (seven years ago) link

another one

imago, Sunday, 11 September 2016 23:30 (seven years ago) link

Amazing that Stan has only beaten Nole 4 times in 23 attempts but causes him SO MUCH trouble at the Slams.

Michael Jones, Sunday, 11 September 2016 23:30 (seven years ago) link

and another one

imago, Sunday, 11 September 2016 23:31 (seven years ago) link

Nole still ahead on points - he built up quite the lead with that first set of love-holds and fistful of b-ps on Stan's serve.

Michael Jones, Sunday, 11 September 2016 23:34 (seven years ago) link

Stan finally up 122-120 in that category.

Michael Jones, Sunday, 11 September 2016 23:39 (seven years ago) link

god i wish i could watch this

jason waterfalls (gbx), Monday, 12 September 2016 00:03 (seven years ago) link

Well, well.

Win Wimbledon next year and that's a Career Slam in 3.5 years.

Michael Jones, Monday, 12 September 2016 00:20 (seven years ago) link

unbelievable level

imago, Monday, 12 September 2016 00:23 (seven years ago) link

stans amazing

johnny crunch, Monday, 12 September 2016 00:26 (seven years ago) link

11 final wins in a row for Stan is the maddest thing. gotta say, to counteract all the hate he gets, Djokovic is consistently a v gracious loser

cerealbar, Monday, 12 September 2016 00:26 (seven years ago) link

And Dan Evans had a match point against this guy. Dan Evans.
