βDicks Out for Harambe,β a comedy song by the pro-Trump artist Rockie Gold, has entered Spotifyβs United Kingdom Viral 50 chart at number one, making it the first song that features a Milo Yiannopoulos shout out to top a music chart.

as someone who generally cottons on to bro humor from the margins i'm always a little shocked when it turns out to be a playground for shitheads.

I'm not going to try to sort out the implications of Harambe, but apparently it's also a given that Hillary is a lesbian? Guess if you're already inured to this kind of bullshit that's not even remarkable.
― viborg, Sunday, 18 September 2016 04:13 (seven years ago) link
Usually she's a lesbian who had an affair with Vince Foster, too.

That's a very flatteringly slim version of Jones under the bed there. I thought it was Bob Odenkirk at first.

― lazy rascals, spending their substance, and more, in riotous living (Merdeyeux), Sunday, 18 September 2016 12:13 (seven years ago) link
Why is there a T on the bed? Why doesn't Hillary have any lower body? Why is Putin riding a flying dog? Is that a Master and Margherita reference I don't remember?
― Frederik B, Sunday, 18 September 2016 12:34 (seven years ago) link
The moon is shining showing Hillary things she is terrified of / The artist is not particularly good / You have failed to recognise a bear.
― Andrew Farrell, Sunday, 18 September 2016 13:56 (seven years ago) link
Oh, for fuck sake. I knew it was a bear, but then I got confused because of Bulgakov, and wrote it was a dog. Is there a flying dog in Bulgakov? No. Why you ask?
― Frederik B, Sunday, 18 September 2016 14:03 (seven years ago) link
And that 'ffs' was directed at myself, not you. Fuck me for not recognizing a flying bear when I see one.

Great find. The ban on lawn darts was definitely the end of our national masculinity.

don't forget the pansy liberals also banned horseshoes, because the horses were running out of shoes
― qualx, Thursday, 6 October 2016 01:46 (seven years ago) link
True fact, there was never a ban on horseshoes. We as a nation, of men, fathers of boys, simply became too weak to throw them, and so the game became impossible. Shortly thereafter, abortion was legalized.

Yeah, I was thinking about the lack of this kind of thread recently. There's a lot of background in the casual racism and sexism in gaming thread and then scattered throughout the various politics and election threads, but not necessarily a central repository to discuss the ascendancy of the deplorables.

I think the difference though it's that with their recognition in the national news media, there's serious cause for concern that they won't just crumble into cheetoh dust when the election's over and get swept beck down into their mothers' basements. Batshit has always been troublingly close to the surface, but now it's normal and accepted and out there.
Xp
Banhammers, imsgo? If you're going to invite Milo Yiannopoulos to ilx he won't be the only one getting banned.

batshit rightwing cartoon thread occasionally descends down an alt-right rabbithole - when it does I suppose it's the next closest after what became the Gamergate thread to describing a community of these fuckers.
Which is to say: Mr Gorbachev - make that thread.

after spending some time on social media and among men and women who are righteously angry about "pussygate", I am making an effort to finding the balance between being less flippant and ironic about the daily horror of the front page without ending up TRENCHANT and unnecessarily didactic in that process. somehow pointing even obliquely at shit like this feels more enabling than escaping, i dunno. Help?

maybe think and listen instead of feeling like to have to add your 2 cents.

― brimstead, Tuesday, 11 October 2016 06:22 (seven years ago) link
... trenchant!
also, don't use the word "pussygate"
doing some of that. my 2 cents stays 2 cents if i keep it in my pocket so when i share it with people it's less about being instructive or incisive and more just hopeful it can turn into silk scarves or doves through the magic power of dialogue.but i can diggit if an arched eyebrow is about all that post earned.and yeah, i probably should have put a few more quotation marks around that phrase.
