RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 15:37 (eighteen years ago) link

Window washer thing isn't it, because he cuts the corners?

Onimo (GerryNemo), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 16:33 (eighteen years ago) link

Yeah, washed them like portholes rather than like proper windows.

Are we accentmonkeyfapping on Thursday then?

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 17:13 (eighteen years ago) link

I am already booked, for this week

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 17:17 (eighteen years ago) link

Should I assume we aren't doing anything tomorrow then? Or else that you are all planning enormous amounts of fun off board and no-one is telling me.

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 12 April 2006 17:47 (eighteen years ago) link

Daer Glasgow, accentmonkey is fucking amazing, please get off your arses for your own sake. Love!

i was looking out of my window and i saw Ally C and RJG go into the close opposite so i texted them and asked them if they wanted to visit me for a coffee and when they did they brought sinbad with them who was their drug dealer (i was surprised too) and who they had just been visiting. it was their reason to be in maryhill in the first place. there was something about there being no stairs to my flat so they had to climb up ropes to get here and when they did get here RJG was trying to steal my screensaver and i dare say other things happened but i can't really remember.

jed_ (jed), Wednesday, 12 April 2006 22:24 (eighteen years ago) link

:D

i will come for an accentmonkey drink. she's one of my ILBro's.

I DID steal your screensaver!

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 12 April 2006 22:44 (eighteen years ago) link

but you didn't steal it right out of my computer!

jed_ (jed), Wednesday, 12 April 2006 22:46 (eighteen years ago) link

Dearest Glasgow,

I don't do ILX at work, and I don't have a mobile phone. If any accentmonkey-related plans develop for after work, can someone please email me and tell me. This email address works if you alter the obvious bit.

Ally C (Ally C), Friday, 14 April 2006 00:05 (eighteen years ago) link

i didn't go out last night. i was at work till late. then i went home and watched "the apprentice", which i'd taped on wednesday, because i was at work late that night too. (okay: i was in the pub on wednesday. but it was with a colleague for a meeting that went much better for its lubrication with alcohol. then i bought a kebab, got half of it on my (non-power-rangers) suit and the other half on my shoes, and passed out.)

life is very bizarre right now.

but dahlin, your comment above has been noted and vengeance will be mine at a later date :)

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Friday, 14 April 2006 18:04 (eighteen years ago) link

I did go out. My head *still* hurts. I'm sorry I missed Dot to Dot, but the other band I ran off to see were very good.

Grimly, I'll be your minion if you like, since it would appear I am to be unemployed after 19th May. But I'm not wearing no power rangers suit.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 14 April 2006 18:26 (eighteen years ago) link

fuck! that's harsh. i'm sorry to hear that, ailsa.

i would love you to be my minion ... but unless you fancy paying the company for the privilege of doing so, i doubt they'll hire you. or indeed anyone. ever again. the tigh [+++NO CARRIER]

Yeah, it's been a whole four posts since someone else posted.

(you want to try the Scottish Football Predictions thread if you want a thread only two people post on)

That's true. I have become the Torre Andre Flo of that thread - came with a reputation, started adequately, turned out to be pish.

Henrietta Leavitt and the Cepheid Variables (kate), Wednesday, 19 April 2006 08:22 (eighteen years ago) link

I got a bit lost on Thursday night. It would be hard to say exactly what happened, but there was drink taken.

Actually "drink taken" was a bit of a feature of the weekend.

I do not recommend the Gleddoch House hotel for a wedding just at the moment, by the way. It'll be lovely when it's finished, but it's a bit, er, raw and understaffed at the moment.

Ow my head, etc.

accentmonkey (accentmonkey), Wednesday, 19 April 2006 09:16 (eighteen years ago) link

Half of it burned down last year or the year before. I thought the work would have been done by now.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Wednesday, 19 April 2006 09:20 (eighteen years ago) link

Google says the fire was January '04.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Wednesday, 19 April 2006 09:21 (eighteen years ago) link

It could easily have been. Then they were doing it up, and then about two months ago the hotel changed hands, became part of a chain, and (so someone told me) a lot of the staff left. This would account for some of the annoying things that happened, like the cigarette machine not being refilled and the bar running out of both beer and vodka, but not for other annoying things like the temporary dancefloor coming apart and the band therefore not really being able to play very much.

But we managed to struggle through and have a good time anyway.

accentmonkey (accentmonkey), Wednesday, 19 April 2006 10:09 (eighteen years ago) link

I thank you.

scotstvo (scotstvo), Saturday, 29 April 2006 08:55 (eighteen years ago) link

Scotstvo! Hello! Are you going to Benicassim this year? I am giving it serious consideration (or was until I got made redundant - though I have a few interviews lined up so this might not be an issue), and the Neil-friendly line-up means this is the best chance I have of getting him there.

Bah, one of the few times NPL coincides with me getting paid, and I didn't go. They should bring back Little Leagues soon, and I might actually go to one of them.

Yesterday I walked past Stew outside Partick Station and I waved at him and said hello and he didn't see me.

Is anyone going to see Belle and Sebastian tomorrow?

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 29 April 2006 09:26 (eighteen years ago) link

I quite fancied NPL, and then my parents showed up. To make up for it we went to the Transport Museum, the Hill House and New Lanark and they bought all my dinners for me. New Lanark has a crazy ride! Is Alba drinking tomorrow?

Mädchen (Madchen), Sunday, 30 April 2006 15:37 (eighteen years ago) link

Did you not get my text?

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 30 April 2006 15:41 (eighteen years ago) link

What is the crazy ride at New Lanark?

Cathy (Cathy), Sunday, 30 April 2006 18:13 (eighteen years ago) link

mr. owen's wild ride

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 30 April 2006 18:37 (eighteen years ago) link

I think it's called the Millennium Experience. It's like a very slow gondola that doesn't go up or down, just round corners. And there are some bad waxworks of people in long frocks.

Mädchen (Madchen), Sunday, 30 April 2006 18:43 (eighteen years ago) link

ooh. I wonder if it is like the one at the Jorvic museum in York.

One of my very early memories of pure terror is of being taken to the Chamber of Horrors at Madame Tussaud's, and feeling claustrophobic and panicked. I just looked at the website and it says it is only suitable for over 12s, but I must have been about 5, I'm not sure why I was let in.

Anyway, I am very distrustful of anything underground with waxworks, that calls itself an Experience. Especially anything with piped-through "historical smells". The Jorvic museum thing smelt of smoke and piss, on purpose, to create atmosphere. It was rancid.

Cathy (Cathy), Sunday, 30 April 2006 18:55 (eighteen years ago) link

wine and piss...and death's desire

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 30 April 2006 19:01 (eighteen years ago) link

No Benicassim for me this year I'm afraid. I'm giving up the world of gainful employment and going to do a postgrad this coming term, rendering me virtually penniless and in no way able to go to Spain for dancing. Still though, I highly recommend it!
