piss. i'm working till fucking midnight. you can come and keep me comp ... no, scratch that.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Tuesday, 6 June 2006 21:48 (seventeen years ago) link

can i come?

dahlin (dahlin), Wednesday, 7 June 2006 08:17 (seventeen years ago) link

Yet again, work is almost organising me to be in glasgow, this time w/c 26th June. Having noted grimly's bemoaning of lack of FAP action, aldoFAP some time this week? Best option, as has been seen in previous years, is Thursday 29th which this time has the added attraction of NO FOOTBALL so we can all pay attention to each other. The best other option is probably the Sunday before (25th), but this may well have ENGERLAND FOOTBALL ACTION attached to it.

NB: My attendance is currently "80%", according to the company.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Friday, 16 June 2006 08:28 (seventeen years ago) link

once again, i recommend thursday, june 29 at macsorleys. yeeeeeaaaah
(no self interest here at all! noooooooooooooooooo)
and speaking of football, if anyone wants to come together to watch sweden (hopefully) kick some engerland ass on tuesday, i'll also be at macsorleys for that, with potentially free meatballs. mmmmmm meatballs.

dahlin (dahlin), Friday, 16 June 2006 09:56 (seventeen years ago) link

That sounds like a PLAN - the football thing, not the cute swedish boys in bands thing. (have you become Swedish when I wasn't looking?)

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 16 June 2006 10:00 (seventeen years ago) link

Sounds like a plan to me, as long as somebody lets me know where that is.

How did I guess the person with email notification would answer first?

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Friday, 16 June 2006 10:01 (seventeen years ago) link

I may manage the 29th. I'll get grief as it's last minute holiday packing night but I can have a last minute hungover holiday packing morning instead :)

Onimo (GerryNemo), Friday, 16 June 2006 10:02 (seventeen years ago) link

MacSorley's is on Jamaica Street - next to the Crystal Palace.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Friday, 16 June 2006 10:03 (seventeen years ago) link

It's where I watched the peerless Gratis Quo.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Friday, 16 June 2006 10:03 (seventeen years ago) link

Really? You should mention that sometime... ;-P

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 16 June 2006 10:12 (seventeen years ago) link

I suspect a snowball has more chance of survival in hell than I do watching England in MacSorley's! /big wuss

25th or 29th OK by me.

The missus and I are also thinking of trying Glasgow from the 29/6 - 3/7. Will foax be up for a full weekend of fappage?

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Friday, 16 June 2006 15:25 (seventeen years ago) link

God, yeah. 29th should henceforth be marked in diaries as aldo-and-the-nipper-and-mrs-the-nipper-FAP.

Congrats Ailsa. So do I. Well, another temp job at least - filing at the Procurator Fiscal's office. Big fun!

29th a possibility...

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 22 June 2006 11:01 (seventeen years ago) link

Well done, The CareBear.

We are now going to be arriving in Glasgow on the 30th rather than the 29th, if anyone fancies coming out two nights in a row.

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Thursday, 22 June 2006 11:24 (seventeen years ago) link

carey = cilla black?

jed_ (jed), Thursday, 22 June 2006 11:26 (seventeen years ago) link

Fridays = much better idea for beer (also, Pop League). Any progress on aldo-FAP?

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 22 June 2006 14:29 (seventeen years ago) link

A hotel is being booked as we speak, in the centre.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Thursday, 22 June 2006 15:38 (seventeen years ago) link

yay! Will you be up in time for early-doors drinking on Sunday? Plan a FAP please.

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 22 June 2006 15:57 (seventeen years ago) link

No, it will be Thursday, I'm afraid. I thought we said McSorley's? Time = whenever. Gerry, I can probably manage a Royal Burger before.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Thursday, 22 June 2006 16:00 (seventeen years ago) link

Doesn't McSorleys on Thursday involve music and dancing and Swedish indie boys and things? Not that I don't like music and dancing and Swedish indie boys and things, but, y'know, ease of conversation and that?

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 22 June 2006 16:02 (seventeen years ago) link

Does it? I was just following Stacy's suggestion ^^^^^.

I dunno then, did Glasgow do that brewpub near the Green?

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Thursday, 22 June 2006 16:13 (seventeen years ago) link

june 29=SOS (sounds of sweden) #2 at MacSorleys on jamaica street
cute swedish boys+music+alcohol+me
yeah!

I can't believe I loaded all million answers of this thread to copy'n'paste that.

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 22 June 2006 16:31 (seventeen years ago) link

Dahlin's creaky old work computer won't let her open to this thread. So she's asked me to post this.

thursday is SOS, yes, with live music and all that, yes. there happens to be a wetherspoons directly across the way, however, with large open spaces, (semi) quiet atmosphere and cheap food and beer. so y'all could do a pre-SOS dinner meet-up there if you like. alternatively, you could snag a table in the upstairs mezzanine/loft area of macsorleys to be a bit removed from it all.

as for friday, if you don't fancy the crowded heat of the woody, i will likely be a guest DJ at the chill ABC polar bar for dolly mixture's new night. so lots of space, girly tunes and air conditioning.

Now, I'm not convinced about the JD Weatherspoons pub across the road (Crystal Palace) being open, since it seemed quite closed the last time me and Onimo tried to go in for a pint. That was a few weeks ago, mind, perhaps it is back open again. But upstairs in McSorleys sounds good. I can be there very early doors indeed. (note hint at impending ruin)

I'm also theoretically up for the ABC on Friday as well. I HATE the lack of air-con in the Woodside, so cool places are, well, cool.

Basically, yay for Dahlin, a wise woman with GOOD IDEAS.

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 22 June 2006 17:23 (seventeen years ago) link

Upstairs at McSorley's sounds fine to me too. A plan.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Thursday, 22 June 2006 19:05 (seventeen years ago) link

i'm working till 10 on the 29th but my route home takes me past mcsorley's door. i shall pop in for a pint or some.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Thursday, 22 June 2006 20:20 (seventeen years ago) link

I'm thinking I may schedule some sort of "meeting" away from the office on Friday (or ask for the morning off)

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 22 June 2006 20:23 (seventeen years ago) link

I am already booked, for the 29th.

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 28 June 2006 17:40 (seventeen years ago) link

I'll be popping along to McSorleys tomorrow for a friend's birthday (money permitting, fuck knows what the dole are doing) so I'll pop upstairs to see y'all at some point.
