six and a half percent, YOU ARE MINE!!!!

or is it 8%? i don't remember.

chicago kevin, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 21:55 (seventeen years ago) link

why don't you just take it to your bank? those bitches count change for free.

La Lechera, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 21:57 (seventeen years ago) link

hmmmmmmmm....

chicago kevin, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 21:57 (seventeen years ago) link

Not mine... They figured out this racket pretty quick, I'd bet.

dan m, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 21:58 (seventeen years ago) link

Although I think their cut is like 5%.

dan m, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 21:58 (seventeen years ago) link

because my bank is conveniently open when i'm at work and during my normal sleeping hours. i would gladly pay 8% if it means i don't have to wake up and battle bank lines on a saturday morning.

chicago kevin, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 21:58 (seventeen years ago) link

oh. my old bank (north comm.) did. i haven't had coins counted since then.

La Lechera, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 21:58 (seventeen years ago) link

My coin-counting days have waned somewhat now that I have to pay all my quarters to the laundry machine.

dan m, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 22:00 (seventeen years ago) link

plus, my bank charges a fee for unrolled change so the worth the 8% things comes back to me.

the last time i went to coinstar i took the contents of one of my piggy banks and it paid for my cab from laguardia to the bowery, my first two slices of pizza of that day, a pack of cigarettes, and two beers. i think i lugged $76 worth of nickles and dimes down to the jewel on ashland/division/milwaukee.

chicago kevin, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 22:00 (seventeen years ago) link

How has Nabisco listened to the FFs' "(I Cannot Get Any) Satisfaction"? Is that even available as a recording?

There are some secret demo recordings. Did he reference this somewhere? I can put them on the blog or email them maybe.

n/a, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 22:02 (seventeen years ago) link

Usually when I take my big ziploc bag of change to the bank it's about $90 worth, I've got one at home that's just about ripe.

Jordan, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 22:03 (seventeen years ago) link

No, I looked up FFs on Last.fm and saw the song, then I clicked on it to see who had listened to it, and it was pretty obvious (Promqueen, Sundays, Final Fantasy, Schneider TM) that it was Nabs.

jaymc, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 22:04 (seventeen years ago) link

you're scary

La Lechera, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 22:08 (seventeen years ago) link

Sorry, I have been informed that the demos are TOP SECRET.

n/a, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 22:08 (seventeen years ago) link

...by me. Hi, John.

KitCat, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 22:13 (seventeen years ago) link

jaymc, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 22:13 (seventeen years ago) link

Not to be a bitch about it, but how did N get a hold of them?

Of course he does, but the song's not on an album, and it seems unlikely that they'd put up a demo on the Forkcast. BUT WHAT DO I KNOW.

dan m, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 22:23 (seventeen years ago) link

I'm actually fine with not being able to hear the recording -- it's not like I don't know the song -- I'm just curious, that's all.

jaymc, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 22:24 (seventeen years ago) link

Don't be offended, John. We loves ya.

KitCat, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 22:24 (seventeen years ago) link

John, why aren't you on gmail, I have an xls question.

Jordan, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 22:25 (seventeen years ago) link

Speaking of secret songs, the 0ptimistic is playing on Friday and our secret cover = A Spoonfull of Sugar. Don't tell anyone.

Jordan, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 22:35 (seventeen years ago) link

...helps the medicine go down?

La Lechera, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 22:36 (seventeen years ago) link

That's the one.

Jordan, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 22:37 (seventeen years ago) link

Sweet.

hehehe

La Lechera, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 22:38 (seventeen years ago) link

Nothing can top the Harry Connick Jr. version of that tune though.

Jordan, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 22:40 (seventeen years ago) link

The demos are secret because they were intended to shop around and possibly get someone to put out a new album eventually. We sent a copy to Nabs for feedback because he has given us helpful comments before.

n/a, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 23:01 (seventeen years ago) link

Word.

jaymc, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 23:03 (seventeen years ago) link

I am the pleased-as-punch owner of a lovely new Calvin Klein suit!! CHEAP!!!!

Jesse, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 23:07 (seventeen years ago) link

Where did you get it?

jaymc, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 23:09 (seventeen years ago) link

oOOPS. Just remembered I had some eggs a-boilin'!

Jesse, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 23:12 (seventeen years ago) link

That means you got it at Men's Wearhouse, doesn't it?

jaymc, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 23:15 (seventeen years ago) link

Anyway, I got it at Lord & Taylor. It was originally $495 ( sold as seperates - $350 for the coat and $145 for the pants) but it was marked down 60% so I paid $198 (!). $215 including tax, tag, and title. It needs only minimal alterations. Actually, in a really tight pinch I could wear it just as it is.

Jesse, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 23:16 (seventeen years ago) link

THIS IS WHY I'M THIS IS WHY I'M HOT I'M HOT CUZ I'M FLY YOU AIN'T CUZ YOU NOT THIS IS WHY I'M THIS IS WHY I'M HOT

jaymc, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 23:17 (seventeen years ago) link

It's charcoal, 3 button, ventless. It has pinstripes, both solid and broken. I wish I could go back for a 2nd one in another color!

Jesse, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 23:17 (seventeen years ago) link

I don't get your reference, John.

Jesse, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 23:19 (seventeen years ago) link

L&T has a great selection still. Get down and get while there's still some getting to be got.

Jesse, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 23:20 (seventeen years ago) link

that sounds beautiful, Jesse! I went to Lord & Taylor to try to find a dress on massive sale, but all they had was crushed velvet mid-90s looking dresses. but maybe I wasn't persistent enough.

horseshoe, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 23:21 (seventeen years ago) link

It's a new hip-hop song called "This is Why I'm Hot," by someone called Mims.

jaymc, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 23:29 (seventeen years ago) link

(I admire its logic: "I'm hot cuz I'm fly. You ain't cuz you not.")

jaymc, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 23:30 (seventeen years ago) link

I never shopped at L&T much, but from what I understand, they are pretty conservative. Which is probably why I never shopped there much.

Jesse, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 23:35 (seventeen years ago) link

These are its crumbum.

Jeff, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 23:43 (seventeen years ago) link

they are conservative, but if you're getting basic dressy clothes, they can be a good place to check. i got my maid of honor dress for my sister's wedding there on sale--a sleeveless floor-length shift. i looked hot.

JuliaA, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 23:49 (seventeen years ago) link

Besides their suits, they also had a lot of FCUK sweaters and shirts. And LOTS of leather jackets. But the rest was definitly pretty conservative--pastel and neon cable knit sweaters, pleated twill pants.
