I've been keeping up with him. He's kind of my favorite celeb killer.

xpost.

Jesse, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:03 (seventeen years ago) link

We are having band practice tomorrow as well.

We have no plans this weekend.

n/a, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:03 (seventeen years ago) link

Oh, I love the killer that convinced a dude to eat his own fried penis. That's persuasive. Props, bro.

kenan, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:04 (seventeen years ago) link

Like when Lecter got the dude in the next cell to kill himself just by talking to him all night.

kenan, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:05 (seventeen years ago) link

What's going on in Mke, Kevin?

Jordan, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:08 (seventeen years ago) link

Thanks, Kenan. I immediately hit "back" when I saw the word "cannibal" in the article title, so I'm glad you've synopsized it for me.

jaymc, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:09 (seventeen years ago) link

band one of my best friends drums for and my upstairs neighbor fronts is playing their first show with the pared down line-up. i want to see how it sounds. it's at linneman's which i've never been to.

chicago kevin, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:10 (seventeen years ago) link

The guy volunteered! He wanted to be eaten!

Alderman is absolutely correct. For example, if you call Schiller's office, the person answers "Alderman Helen Schiller's office." I just use "alderperson" to be contrary. And yes, aldermanic is a pretty awesome word. Alderpersonic would take some getting used to.

Jenny, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:11 (seventeen years ago) link

i would like it if my alderman adopted an over the top alter ego, like a super hero or something. it could be alderpersona.

chicago kevin, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:13 (seventeen years ago) link

Note: Jeff is a pacifist, and is both nonviolent and conflict averse so he is definitely no serial killer or despot. He'll be the first to admit to his own soulessness, however.

The birthday clown thing would sure explain all the big shoes and red foam rubber noses I find around the house...

Jenny, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:13 (seventeen years ago) link

I imagine it worked like clever advertising. Through the power of suggestion, he began to THINK he wanted to be eaten.

kenan, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:18 (seventeen years ago) link

Yes, there was an image of a Blackberry device posted beneath my claim of hate. If you have images turned off, there is no indication that an image has even been posted.

"oh, those honey.... ? uhm, yeah, uh.... those are mine! yes, those are definitely mine, i'm a birthday party clown in my spare time."
[cut to shot of half-naked clown trying to sneak out of jenny & jeff's house, tiptoeing with his right foot but forgetting he has a clown horn strapped to his left]

hi

JuliaA, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:20 (seventeen years ago) link

HI JULIA.

How do you feel about berries and/or that German cannibal dude?

kenan, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:21 (seventeen years ago) link

Favorite line from Undeclared last night: "You're not my girlfriend, you're my girlenemy!"

I've been to Linnemann's, it's alright. One of my friends used to work there and plays there a lot.

Jordan, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:21 (seventeen years ago) link

dammit, it wasn't letting me post before, so that was a test.

also, jenny is more interesting than bitch magazine, and i should become better educated about local politics and disability issues.

i need to eat something before i become all homicidal from low blood sugar. that kind of happened yesterday. i'm not going to tell where the bodies are, though.

JuliaA, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:22 (seventeen years ago) link

I imagine it worked like clever advertising. Through the power of suggestion, he began to THINK he wanted to be eaten.

READ ABOUT HIM. The deceased man met him in an internet chat room dedicated to cannibalism. He was seeking out someone to eat him. Meiwes met a few other men who also wanted to be eaten, but they chickened out.

Jesse, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:23 (seventeen years ago) link

i like berries very much. i eat loads of frozen berries in smoothies with milk and yogurt. that's some good fairly-inexpensive food, btw. as well as the aforementioned steel-cut oats, which rock.

the cannibalism thing is CREEPY. but interesting.

JuliaA, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:24 (seventeen years ago) link

the website leaves a lot to be desired. how big is the room? how does it sound? i think the last time i was in mke i saw a show at a place that reminded me of someone's parent's basement rec room. i can't remember the name of the place. is mad planet a venue or a record store because that sounds familiar.

also, milwaukee record stores kick ass. i want to go to atomic like right now.

chicago kevin, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:25 (seventeen years ago) link

also, that is obviously an xpost but not so obvious is that it was to jordan.

chicago kevin, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:25 (seventeen years ago) link

I have been sonned in cannibal chat room murder beef.

I cannot live with this shame.

God I love my job sometimes, especially when we get papers that have conclusions like this:

A few years ago, people all over the world have seen the grand scene that the comet collided the Jupiter,
however in the continuous collision there was no water splashed from the process, this is the most strange
matter。 Nevertheless such phenomena provides strong evidence for the viewpoint in this article。
Recently in the experiment of the aircraft of America colliding the surface of the Moon, water was not
found either, it seemed to be another evidence for this paper。 In the future the experiment that the bureau
of cosmonautics of America try to blow the nuclear of comet to piece will finally proves the comets that
once cycled around the sun for thousands , millions of times contains no volatile materials any more!

Mad Planet's a venue, I've never seen a band there but it's good for dj's/dancing. My friends go there alll the time.

Linnemann's is a bar with a largish back room and a high stage. I've had drinks there but haven't seen bands, so I don't know how it sounds.

Jordan, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:32 (seventeen years ago) link

I've been meaning to get to Milwaukee for a weekend but these gigs keep popping up.

Jordan, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:33 (seventeen years ago) link

Don't collide the Jupiter, you maniacs!

kenan, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:33 (seventeen years ago) link

I was frustrated by the fact that Stonefly Brewery doesn't have a website, just a MySpace, with no information about how to buy tickets for shows, and so eventually I just called them up and said "Hey -- how do I buy advance tickets?" And the woman who answered was like, "Yeah, uh, we don't really sell tickets in advance," and I said "Well, I'm driving from Chicago, I don't want to get there and find the show is sold out," and she said, "In all the time I've been here, we've never had a show sell out. But it's funny you should ask because someone else from Chicago called me earlier today asking the exact same question." I guess that's the difference between living in the 3rd-largest city in the U.S. and living in the 22nd-largest.

jaymc, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:34 (seventeen years ago) link

When I saw Mouse on Mars there it probably should have been "sold out". The place was paaaacked.

Jordan, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:37 (seventeen years ago) link

jordan, there's a good show at linneman's on the 23rd.

chicago kevin, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:38 (seventeen years ago) link

Huh. Guess I'll have to get there early, then. I have no idea how popular Girl Talk is in Milwaukee, but if MoM packs 'em in, I could see the show doing a brisk business.

jaymc, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:39 (seventeen years ago) link

Ha, the 23rd is when I'm going to be there.

jaymc, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:40 (seventeen years ago) link

well if your show is sold out, go over to linneman's for music i can't imagine you'd ever enjoy.

chicago kevin, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:41 (seventeen years ago) link

Awesome. Actually, I think I might enjoy seeing some of the music you like in the context of a live setting, as spectacle.

jaymc, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:44 (seventeen years ago) link

You should try listening as spectacle. It's fun.

kenan, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:44 (seventeen years ago) link

I have no idea what that meant.

kenan, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:46 (seventeen years ago) link

the crowd may get a little too surly for your tastes. i just remembered why i don't go to milwaukee more.

chicago kevin, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:46 (seventeen years ago) link

That doesn't make sense.

jaymc, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:47 (seventeen years ago) link

(Sorry, that was an xpost to Kenan.)

jaymc, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:47 (seventeen years ago) link

When is the GT show?

Jeff, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:50 (seventeen years ago) link

March 23. You should come with us!

Jesse, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 18:08 (seventeen years ago) link

is this it?

chicago kevin, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 18:10 (seventeen years ago) link

It is. I thought for some reason this ILZ might do the thing that the orig. did where if you paste the URL for an ILX thread, it automatically changes the URL into the name of the thread and a link. But I forgot that this is ILX 2.0.

Jesse, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 18:22 (seventeen years ago) link

I'M BAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK. Couldn't log in this morning and as I am sick at home, that was a srs inconvenience. Now remedied.

Laurel, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 18:35 (seventeen years ago) link

Who's playing at that show on the 23rd, Kevin?
