dammit, it wasn't letting me post before, so that was a test.

also, jenny is more interesting than bitch magazine, and i should become better educated about local politics and disability issues.

i need to eat something before i become all homicidal from low blood sugar. that kind of happened yesterday. i'm not going to tell where the bodies are, though.

I imagine it worked like clever advertising. Through the power of suggestion, he began to THINK he wanted to be eaten.

READ ABOUT HIM. The deceased man met him in an internet chat room dedicated to cannibalism. He was seeking out someone to eat him. Meiwes met a few other men who also wanted to be eaten, but they chickened out.

Jesse, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:23 (seventeen years ago) link

i like berries very much. i eat loads of frozen berries in smoothies with milk and yogurt. that's some good fairly-inexpensive food, btw. as well as the aforementioned steel-cut oats, which rock.

the cannibalism thing is CREEPY. but interesting.

JuliaA, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:24 (seventeen years ago) link

the website leaves a lot to be desired. how big is the room? how does it sound? i think the last time i was in mke i saw a show at a place that reminded me of someone's parent's basement rec room. i can't remember the name of the place. is mad planet a venue or a record store because that sounds familiar.

also, milwaukee record stores kick ass. i want to go to atomic like right now.

chicago kevin, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:25 (seventeen years ago) link

also, that is obviously an xpost but not so obvious is that it was to jordan.

chicago kevin, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:25 (seventeen years ago) link

I have been sonned in cannibal chat room murder beef.

I cannot live with this shame.

God I love my job sometimes, especially when we get papers that have conclusions like this:

A few years ago, people all over the world have seen the grand scene that the comet collided the Jupiter,
however in the continuous collision there was no water splashed from the process, this is the most strange
matter。 Nevertheless such phenomena provides strong evidence for the viewpoint in this article。
Recently in the experiment of the aircraft of America colliding the surface of the Moon, water was not
found either, it seemed to be another evidence for this paper。 In the future the experiment that the bureau
of cosmonautics of America try to blow the nuclear of comet to piece will finally proves the comets that
once cycled around the sun for thousands , millions of times contains no volatile materials any more!

Mad Planet's a venue, I've never seen a band there but it's good for dj's/dancing. My friends go there alll the time.

Linnemann's is a bar with a largish back room and a high stage. I've had drinks there but haven't seen bands, so I don't know how it sounds.

Jordan, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:32 (seventeen years ago) link

I've been meaning to get to Milwaukee for a weekend but these gigs keep popping up.

Jordan, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:33 (seventeen years ago) link

Don't collide the Jupiter, you maniacs!

kenan, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:33 (seventeen years ago) link

I was frustrated by the fact that Stonefly Brewery doesn't have a website, just a MySpace, with no information about how to buy tickets for shows, and so eventually I just called them up and said "Hey -- how do I buy advance tickets?" And the woman who answered was like, "Yeah, uh, we don't really sell tickets in advance," and I said "Well, I'm driving from Chicago, I don't want to get there and find the show is sold out," and she said, "In all the time I've been here, we've never had a show sell out. But it's funny you should ask because someone else from Chicago called me earlier today asking the exact same question." I guess that's the difference between living in the 3rd-largest city in the U.S. and living in the 22nd-largest.

jaymc, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:34 (seventeen years ago) link

When I saw Mouse on Mars there it probably should have been "sold out". The place was paaaacked.

Jordan, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:37 (seventeen years ago) link

jordan, there's a good show at linneman's on the 23rd.

chicago kevin, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:38 (seventeen years ago) link

Huh. Guess I'll have to get there early, then. I have no idea how popular Girl Talk is in Milwaukee, but if MoM packs 'em in, I could see the show doing a brisk business.

jaymc, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:39 (seventeen years ago) link

Ha, the 23rd is when I'm going to be there.

jaymc, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:40 (seventeen years ago) link

well if your show is sold out, go over to linneman's for music i can't imagine you'd ever enjoy.

chicago kevin, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:41 (seventeen years ago) link

Awesome. Actually, I think I might enjoy seeing some of the music you like in the context of a live setting, as spectacle.

jaymc, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:44 (seventeen years ago) link

You should try listening as spectacle. It's fun.

kenan, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:44 (seventeen years ago) link

I have no idea what that meant.

kenan, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:46 (seventeen years ago) link

the crowd may get a little too surly for your tastes. i just remembered why i don't go to milwaukee more.

chicago kevin, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:46 (seventeen years ago) link

That doesn't make sense.

jaymc, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:47 (seventeen years ago) link

(Sorry, that was an xpost to Kenan.)

jaymc, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:47 (seventeen years ago) link

When is the GT show?

Jeff, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 17:50 (seventeen years ago) link

March 23. You should come with us!

Stop eating and get back here for my amusement.

Jesse, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 18:08 (seventeen years ago) link

is this it?

chicago kevin, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 18:10 (seventeen years ago) link

It is. I thought for some reason this ILZ might do the thing that the orig. did where if you paste the URL for an ILX thread, it automatically changes the URL into the name of the thread and a link. But I forgot that this is ILX 2.0.

Jesse, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 18:22 (seventeen years ago) link

I'M BAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK. Couldn't log in this morning and as I am sick at home, that was a srs inconvenience. Now remedied.

Laurel, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 18:35 (seventeen years ago) link

Who's playing at that show on the 23rd, Kevin?

Jordan, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 18:42 (seventeen years ago) link

I ate way too much for lunch. Again. "Half" (their idea of a half sandwich is to take two whole pieces from the smaller side of the loaf apparently) pastrami + salami sandwich and a "medium" (large) "cup" (carton) of chili. It was great.

Jordan, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 18:54 (seventeen years ago) link

Now tell us about some dudes.

Jesse, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 18:55 (seventeen years ago) link

I'm a Netflix citizen once again. I still think it's weird that my account just disappeared--no "Credit card authorization failed," or "Let's just be friends"--nothing. But whatever, I get a 2nd free month trial.

Jesse, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 18:57 (seventeen years ago) link

(their idea of a half sandwich is to take two whole pieces from the smaller side of the loaf apparently)

Haha, Bake for Me does this, too.

23rd at linnemans:

CARBONAS

W/

THE PETS, GENTELMAN JESSI & HIS MEN, PLEXI 3

carbonas are atlanta punks that are really really talented and somewhat fucked up.
the pets are from oakland, ca and i've only heard them twice and never seen them so i couldn't tell you.
gentleman jesse & his men are jesse (and i think dave) from the carbonas. they put out a debut 7" earlier this year of power pop goodness and it's so far my favorite record of the year. really really good.
plexi 3 are mke punk, ex of the kill-a-watts and monitors.

chicago kevin, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 19:01 (seventeen years ago) link

gentleman jesse & his men

Jesse if this were old ILX you would have a new screen name.

Jordan, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 19:05 (seventeen years ago) link

I'm going back to the sandbox.

Jesse, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 19:06 (seventeen years ago) link

Have fun, we'll see you when you get bored.

Laurel, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 19:07 (seventeen years ago) link

OK. Recommend me some movies. My queue was at around 75 when I was last a Netflixor.

Over the summer there were a number of movies that I wanted to see, but now I forget. Marie Antoinette, For Your Consideration....and ??

Jesse, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 19:08 (seventeen years ago) link

Kevin, have you heard of the following Mke punk bands that my friends play in:

M0dern Machines
Lefty L00sie
Bob Ücker

Jordan, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 19:08 (seventeen years ago) link

God help me I'm doing actual work today.

kenan, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 19:09 (seventeen years ago) link

Huh. It's not as dead over in the sandbox as I would have thought.

Jesse, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 19:11 (seventeen years ago) link

only heard of the first one and never actually heard them.

chicago kevin, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 19:13 (seventeen years ago) link

I saw 3 episodes of the Sarah Silverman show last night and enjoyed them.

Jesse, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 19:22 (seventeen years ago) link

I have Jesus Is Magic at home, haven't watched it yet.

In a little while I'm going to meet my new team, so I'll be in meetings for the rest of the day. Hope they don't suck. Take care of each other, Chicago.

Jordan, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 19:24 (seventeen years ago) link

I have taken to saying, "What the cock is that?" Thanks, Sarah.

kenan, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 19:25 (seventeen years ago) link

Who, mmeeee? Did I say that at some point? Was I drunk?

KitCat, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 19:29 (seventeen years ago) link

Woah, the Britishes dude in Undeclared was in Children of Men.

Okay, I'm really going now.

Jordan, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 19:30 (seventeen years ago) link

xpost Sarah Silverman.

Though now that I think of it, you should start saying it, too.
