Jesse, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 18:08 (seventeen years ago) link

is this it?

chicago kevin, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 18:10 (seventeen years ago) link

It is. I thought for some reason this ILZ might do the thing that the orig. did where if you paste the URL for an ILX thread, it automatically changes the URL into the name of the thread and a link. But I forgot that this is ILX 2.0.

Jesse, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 18:22 (seventeen years ago) link

I'M BAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK. Couldn't log in this morning and as I am sick at home, that was a srs inconvenience. Now remedied.

Laurel, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 18:35 (seventeen years ago) link

Who's playing at that show on the 23rd, Kevin?

Jordan, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 18:42 (seventeen years ago) link

I ate way too much for lunch. Again. "Half" (their idea of a half sandwich is to take two whole pieces from the smaller side of the loaf apparently) pastrami + salami sandwich and a "medium" (large) "cup" (carton) of chili. It was great.

Jordan, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 18:54 (seventeen years ago) link

Now tell us about some dudes.

Jesse, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 18:55 (seventeen years ago) link

I'm a Netflix citizen once again. I still think it's weird that my account just disappeared--no "Credit card authorization failed," or "Let's just be friends"--nothing. But whatever, I get a 2nd free month trial.

Jesse, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 18:57 (seventeen years ago) link

Haha, Bake for Me does this, too.

23rd at linnemans:

CARBONAS

W/

THE PETS, GENTELMAN JESSI & HIS MEN, PLEXI 3

carbonas are atlanta punks that are really really talented and somewhat fucked up.
the pets are from oakland, ca and i've only heard them twice and never seen them so i couldn't tell you.
gentleman jesse & his men are jesse (and i think dave) from the carbonas. they put out a debut 7" earlier this year of power pop goodness and it's so far my favorite record of the year. really really good.
plexi 3 are mke punk, ex of the kill-a-watts and monitors.

chicago kevin, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 19:01 (seventeen years ago) link

gentleman jesse & his men

Jesse if this were old ILX you would have a new screen name.

Jordan, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 19:05 (seventeen years ago) link

I'm going back to the sandbox.

Jesse, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 19:06 (seventeen years ago) link

Have fun, we'll see you when you get bored.

Laurel, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 19:07 (seventeen years ago) link

OK. Recommend me some movies. My queue was at around 75 when I was last a Netflixor.

Over the summer there were a number of movies that I wanted to see, but now I forget. Marie Antoinette, For Your Consideration....and ??

Jesse, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 19:08 (seventeen years ago) link

Kevin, have you heard of the following Mke punk bands that my friends play in:

M0dern Machines
Lefty L00sie
Bob Ücker

Jordan, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 19:08 (seventeen years ago) link

God help me I'm doing actual work today.

kenan, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 19:09 (seventeen years ago) link

Huh. It's not as dead over in the sandbox as I would have thought.

Jesse, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 19:11 (seventeen years ago) link

only heard of the first one and never actually heard them.

chicago kevin, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 19:13 (seventeen years ago) link

I saw 3 episodes of the Sarah Silverman show last night and enjoyed them.

Jesse, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 19:22 (seventeen years ago) link

I have Jesus Is Magic at home, haven't watched it yet.

In a little while I'm going to meet my new team, so I'll be in meetings for the rest of the day. Hope they don't suck. Take care of each other, Chicago.

Jordan, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 19:24 (seventeen years ago) link

I have taken to saying, "What the cock is that?" Thanks, Sarah.

kenan, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 19:25 (seventeen years ago) link

Who, mmeeee? Did I say that at some point? Was I drunk?

KitCat, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 19:29 (seventeen years ago) link

Woah, the Britishes dude in Undeclared was in Children of Men.

Okay, I'm really going now.

Jordan, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 19:30 (seventeen years ago) link

xpost Sarah Silverman.

Though now that I think of it, you should start saying it, too.

kenan, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 19:30 (seventeen years ago) link

I have a work enemy. He is a nasty, mean, greedy man. He calls his wife (who is actually a girlfriend/baby mama who he refuses to marry) his bitch, talks about all the other women he is dating/fucking, smacks girls on the ass (hard), touches my ass, brags about how much money he makes (last year he made $72,000!). He doesn't contribute to any sort of teamwork, and if you need his help, he will flat out refuse. Despite all of this, he gets the best stations, the most shifts, and the best shifts. The managers love him. WTF??

Jesse, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 19:48 (seventeen years ago) link

Sounds like management material to me.

KitCat, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 19:48 (seventeen years ago) link

No shit.

Jesse, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 19:51 (seventeen years ago) link

sarah is so otm that people named tom can't spell their names as she has collected all the o's, t's, and m's.

L

Jesse, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 19:54 (seventeen years ago) link

He would never go into management because he can make so much more money as a server, but if he was interested, I'm sure that he would be in the running for promotion. He's only worked there for a year! And he is better off in a number of ways than even those servers who have been there for 8 or 16 years. What a piece of the shit.

Oh, and he has some idea that we should be doing French service/food. We are high volume, business crowd, Thai- and Cajun-influenced seafood, we can't go flambee-ing and preparing Caesar salads tableside, there's no time, room, or reason for it. And he wears gawdy expensive Armani watches. He lurvs Armani. And he drives a fairly late model BMW.

Jesse, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 20:01 (seventeen years ago) link

Have you guys been following the Joyce Hatto thread on ILM? It's fascinating. I love stories about frauds. This one is sad though.

n/a, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 20:01 (seventeen years ago) link

This dude sounds like he has something going on the side, like pushing powder or something else.

dan m, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 20:03 (seventeen years ago) link

I haven't read the thread, but I caught mention of it on Alex Ross's blog.

jaymc, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 20:03 (seventeen years ago) link

(The scandal, not the thread.)

jaymc, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 20:03 (seventeen years ago) link

Right, well, it's really the story that's interesting, not the thread.

n/a, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 20:04 (seventeen years ago) link

How did this go on so long before one person finally noticed the iTunes track names?

Jesse, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 20:08 (seventeen years ago) link

Because most of her recordings had silence tacked on, or the track stretched in some way so that CDDB wouldn't identify it as a different recording. Maybe they'd gotten lazy by the time they released the Liszt recording.

chicago kevin, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 20:12 (seventeen years ago) link

OH. And this jackass dabbles in steroids too.

His name is Jorge.

Ok, that's the end of my rant.

Jesse, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 20:13 (seventeen years ago) link

The "dabbles in steroids" bit only convinces me further that he's got some business going on under the table.

dan m, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 20:15 (seventeen years ago) link

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

In this pic it looks like there is an orangutan with a tiger's body. I suppose that if an adult orangutan and a grown tiger loved each other verrrry much, this could result.

Jesse, Wednesday, 28 February 2007 20:16 (seventeen years ago) link

FUCK YOU. Why can't we just have regular REAL BBCode around here?
