I haven't been in your new house, no, even thought you have been, for a while. I like to leave my house as little as possible, as I'm sure many would testify.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 14:20 (twenty years ago) link

Thanks, Madchen. Yes my email should work.

I think I'm getting pity fatigue, RJG.

Cathy (Cathy), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 14:20 (twenty years ago) link

that's a pity.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 14:20 (twenty years ago) link

Madchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 14:21 (twenty years ago) link

I should be putting these pictures on another thread.

Madchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 14:23 (twenty years ago) link

No, it'll be OK when Scotland wins the competition & Eurovision tries Glasgow more because its hosting the event.

Mooro (Mooro), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 14:25 (twenty years ago) link

Yeah, I just noticed there's a proper Eurovision thread. For Eurovision purposes Scotland is just an unimportant province of England. Although if it were ever to break away, maybe it could be the new Ireland.

Cathy (Cathy), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 14:28 (twenty years ago) link

or wales.

20 million can't be right.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 14:29 (twenty years ago) link

20 million can't be wrong!

I just realised the first Eurovision I remember clearly was in 1991, when France and Sweden drew but Sweden won because they had more 12s. 1991 is also the first year I remember knowing what year it was. So I haven't missed one since I was 6.

Cathy (Cathy), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 14:35 (twenty years ago) link

I thought 1987 was a double year when i was young.

Robbie Lumsden (Wallace Stevens HQ), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 14:36 (twenty years ago) link

Stop making us feel ancient. I've emailed you Cathy.

Madchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 14:37 (twenty years ago) link

so, what about that maryhill blowing up, again, eh?

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 14:38 (twenty years ago) link

A double year? I don't understand.

Pretty much everything I know about European geography I learnt from Eurovision...

Thanks Madchen :)

Cathy (Cathy), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 14:38 (twenty years ago) link

i don't really understand what i was getting at either. some how i thought that some years just go on twice as long as others. it seemed sensible at the time.

Robbie Lumsden (Wallace Stevens HQ), Tuesday, 11 May 2004 14:41 (twenty years ago) link

I'm going to go home in a bit and have a look. G20 might possibly be Glasgow's unluckiest postcode.

I bumped into cathy and RJG on the street (love yr visor!!!) and cathy said she would forward your details, madchen. so. see you on saturday. is it OK if I bring a girlfriend?

cozen (Cozen), Friday, 14 May 2004 00:41 (twenty years ago) link

cathy has forwarded your details and all I can say, among other things, is: fucking hell, the buses?

love, david.

cozen (Cozen), Friday, 14 May 2004 00:46 (twenty years ago) link

I 'ate you, 'owie.

RJG (RJG), Friday, 14 May 2004 01:30 (twenty years ago) link

whose girlfriend, btw?

RJG (RJG), Friday, 14 May 2004 01:30 (twenty years ago) link

Lots and lots of lovely buses. That is why everyone wants to live in Dennistoun. You could walk it - it's 25 minutes from George Square or probably 20 minutes for a bloke with a long stride.

Girlfried, eh? OK, as long as she doesn't puke on my flowerbeds.

Madchen (Madchen), Friday, 14 May 2004 07:07 (twenty years ago) link

Do you think people will see my invite on friendster or should I send an email just in case?

Madchen (Madchen), Friday, 14 May 2004 07:07 (twenty years ago) link

sp.

cozen (Cozen), Friday, 14 May 2004 07:10 (twenty years ago) link

Sorry.

Madchen (Madchen), Friday, 14 May 2004 07:12 (twenty years ago) link

she won't mind.

cozen (Cozen), Friday, 14 May 2004 07:14 (twenty years ago) link

1000

RJG (RJG), Friday, 14 May 2004 10:55 (twenty years ago) link

I wish!

Madchen (Madchen), Friday, 14 May 2004 14:21 (twenty years ago) link

I met dastoor on the street and he said something about the puking in the flowerbeds comment above and so I can only guess he's refraining from posting for some reason (over-pallyness? who knows) or other reasons.

cozen (Cozen), Friday, 14 May 2004 16:03 (twenty years ago) link

Just to remind anyone that steve and I shall be runnin' tings down at the Double-T pub Quiz tomorrow....

Robbie Lumsden (Wallace Stevens HQ), Monday, 17 May 2004 14:55 (twenty years ago) link

"james joyce round"?!

cozen (Cozen), Monday, 17 May 2004 17:12 (twenty years ago) link

.....there is a question on James Joyce. perhaps....

Robbie Lumsden (Wallace Stevens HQ), Monday, 17 May 2004 19:12 (twenty years ago) link

How far is it from Manchester to Glasgow? Would the unsuspecting visitor benefit more from a sojourn to Edinburgh or to Glasgow, or indeed to Dundee?

Mary (Mary), Monday, 17 May 2004 19:15 (twenty years ago) link

Ooh, pub quiz! Where?

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 17 May 2004 20:35 (twenty years ago) link

the doublet, on park rd. off gt. western road, behind the hogs head...

best bar in glasgow!

Robbie Lumsden (Wallace Stevens HQ), Monday, 17 May 2004 20:36 (twenty years ago) link

No it isn't (I used to live about a hundred yards from it, and it's full of scary people). I think we should try this, but I bet none of the others want to...

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 17 May 2004 20:39 (twenty years ago) link

the doublet's not scary at all! i thought it was scary at first, but once you're in their always unfailingly pleasant to everyone. (except overly noisey young people. and quite rightly).

and the bar staff call me lovely there. like, as my name.

Robbie Lumsden (Wallace Stevens HQ), Monday, 17 May 2004 20:41 (twenty years ago) link

I may have been an overly noisy young person though...
