the dialogue on this show is plenty funny but it's the editing that really kills me

Abstinence Hawk (frogbs), Wednesday, 14 January 2015 13:01 (nine years ago) link

Regarding editing I always thought they did a really good job mimicking the show types they're parodying though.

I'm rewatching the first 2 seasons in anticipation of the third and oh it's so good.

The European kills me but that might be because he's pretty much just my German cousin.

funniest character to me is the plastic surgeon murderer

The CANINE plastic surgeon murderer

whoever handles that is probably the MVP of the whole show. like there's almost not a single scene that goes without something funny happening.

Every time I see Jon Daly as Gene Creemers I crack up instantly.

xp - I thought that was Thomas Lennon!! the "Wheels of Ontario"/"Show Us Your Songs" segments are probably the bes tpart of the show, the "Bryan's opinion" part really cracked me up

Abstinence Hawk (frogbs), Wednesday, 21 January 2015 17:03 (nine years ago) link

Jon Daly is Thomas Lennon with some Rainn Wilson stirred in.

Evan, Wednesday, 21 January 2015 21:16 (nine years ago) link

great now i am following two threads where people are confusing comedians named Daly with very similar comedians

My wife loves this show, and I've come around. The sheer obnoxiousness is exhausting, but Publizity and Wheels Ontario rule so far.

yeah i had to warm up to it

“Dan Longino is one of our editors, and his brother is an editor at Bad Girls Club, so they’re sharing secrets, like, ‘How would Bad Girls Club deal with this fight?’ Sound effects. So that’s what we use with someone like Armond, who is so expressionless and doesn’t modulate his voice, to keep it exciting.

i've never seen the Kroll Show. i did hear him and Mulaney do a WNYC show in character, and they were funny, but (cost aside) i do not need to see Oh Hello on Broadway cuz those guys are essentially sitting outside my building every day.

the characters are much more fun on their own then when shoved into the contrived situations on the show

the klosterman weekend (s.clover), Tuesday, 15 November 2016 20:40 (seven years ago) link

such a strange show - I can't imagine very many people in their target audience being overly familiar with the shows and tropes they're parodying
