Sheeit I procrastinated too much now there is snow everywhere and I'm still wearing my fancy expensive italian shues. I'll go buy some appropriate footwear soon-ish any suggestions? While I'm outside I'll get a haircut while I'm at it. I find doing these chores so boring but I had this great idea to liven things up I'll drink the other half of my bottle of sake that should do it. I'm waiting for your answers please while I'm filling up.

Felicity do you know if they can make them with high platform?
Because it doesn't look practical slush-wise.

the Hegemon, Wednesday, 6 November 2002 19:23 (twenty-one years ago) link

but they are apres-ski! They are made for slush.

Made for slush huh..
*Visualizing myself wearing them*
that wet fur makes me sad
They would be top notch for dec feb and up tho
I think I'll go for the mock-raver higher-than-thou platforms for the benefit of the stilts effect.

Those boots look a bit like a St. Bernard's legs which kind of bothers me.

Why is it so hard to find winter boots that are not made of leather? Hasn't technology progressed far enough that we can make them from synthetics like everything else? Gack, it's so discouraging. They had this phenomenal pair at the Vice boutique but they were suede.

seven years pass...

my fryes got cracked soles. i can take them to a cobbler right?

OR i can get new boots with a warmer liner and better traction, but i'm poor.

love my fryes, i'm thinking new soles w/ better traction and thicker socks. has anyone had soles replaced and how much did it cost??

one year passes...

Could someone recommend some good boots for surviving this NYC winter? Some of my friends have Uggs, others have Sorels . . . please help . . .

LL Bean duck boots! Classic, still love. Sorels are awesome but pricey.

Winter boots already on sale on a number of sites, should be a good time for deals.

i got these folk boots last week and i'm absolutely in love with them. sheepskin lined with a suede and nu-buck outer (but coated to make them water repellant). v pricey even in the sale but so worth it.

I didn't find any nice winter boots in 2010. So far 2011 continues the same. Even Camper has let me down. Sigh.

Sorels are the go to for me

plopson (Aerosol), Tuesday, 18 January 2011 17:25 (thirteen years ago) link

they are made by (UK company) Folk and the style is called Andre. the footbed is cork with a sheepskin top, kind of like a Birkenstock inside a boot.

xpost i really like Sorels too but they are a little overkill for UK winters.

Just ordered these Sorels; hope they fit.

three years pass...

I'm bored of wearing my winter boots all the time, so I need a pair to augment them. But Sorels in my size seem to be sold out across the Internet. Ideas for sensible/hearty winter boots (that are also cute)?

Virginia Plain, Thursday, 30 January 2014 04:02 (ten years ago) link

Hi, veep! Nice to see you, but I don't have boot suggestions. :( I bought rain boots instead of winter ones, and they're not that warm but they're CUUUUET, so I may not be the best person to ask?
