Mark, I like you far too much to introduce you to the Cult of Ernest.

Oh I gotta pick the original Ernest Goes to Camp... it really had everything didn't it? Plucky teenagers, the crazy cook, a great song in "Sure Wish It Were Raining (For If It Were Raining No One Could Tell I Was Crying)," those parachuting turtles, an Indian guide, the rival camp who helps out the plucky teenagers in the end, etc. etc. Ahhhh... classic.

It just dawned upon me that maybe I should change my username (but my name *is* Ernest and my last name *does* begin with a "P" and there's this thing called Google and...and...sigh.)

HA HA HA HA

This was supposed to be a thread that didn't make the cut, wasn't it?

oops (Oops), Friday, 21 February 2003 22:23 (twenty-three years ago)

I never saw the original, but I saw several others. The one I at least liked AT THE TIME was Ernest Goes To Jail.

Though me and friend rented Slam Dunk Ernest a few years ago for the perverse thrill. If you ever wanted to see multiple shots of Ernest, visible from the waist up, dunking (and little else) this is the place to go.

"This was supposed to be a thread that didn't make the cut"

Ernest definately makes the cut. Maybe's it's just me, but a big part of me was raised by Ernest. I saw all his movies when they came out, and I was a big fan of his commericals in the 80s.
It is a little bit of a perverse thrill.

six years pass...

Just rewatched Ernest Saves Christmas. Loved it when I was a kid. Still think it fucking rocks. I realize I was a lucky kid!
