So is it true that Americans don't get Good Friday off? Or is it just some of y'all? What about Easter Monday? (Canadians don't get that off.)

some places in America are closed for Good Friday, but it's not a government holiday.

Ha ha, so (as I was saying to someone earlier) not only is Canada waaaay hipper with regards to dope, gay marriage and nudity, but we're also better Christians! Ha ha, take that, fuckers!

Working both Friday and Monday, though we might get out early on Friday.

Y'all suck.

B-b-but only in the good ways, like granting holidays! Not in the bad way, like starting Crusades!
I mean, I don't think we've had a non-catholic Prime Minister since the 60s (even Joe Clark is RC), but we've always kept that out of our domestic and foreign policies. Except for holidays.
Actually, as far as I know, Easter and Christmas are the only strictly religious holidays we get off. Unless you count Victoria Day since the Queen (or King) is officially Head of the Church of England, but we worship our monarchs in a mostly pagan manner anyhow.

you know, Anglicans observe Easter too.

10 days off for me! Easter Tuesday and etc

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 20:49 (twenty years ago) link

We get good friday n' easter monday off, at least one state gets tuesday too (not us tho, boo). Im actually suprised its not a fairly widespread thing - good friday is the one strictly observed holiday apart from chrimbo where a LOT of stores etc are closed.

I have today and tomorrow off as well as the break, but I'll be sittin' round in pain whining so its not much of a holiday.

Mum sent me a postpack full of Lindt easter eggs. Wahey!

post you had fecund thoughts about (darraghmac), Thursday, 26 March 2015 23:08 (nine years ago) link

I wish the excruciating suffering and sacrifice of our Lord was reflected in the fucking train fucking prices to get from fucking to fucking b (or further) in the UK, so I wouldn't have to pay minimum £132 to visit my family in Scotland - which is part of the UK.
