Surprised myself and watched the whole thing this morning. Cringed often, which I know is part of the point with Norm Macdonald (used to be a big fan--not sure about this). Dave's best line: "I had given my word--the same reason I'm here."

this was pretty good. but why on earth are the close ups so close? its as if the camera operator was told to never include either the chin or top of the head in a shot.

Yeah that was jarring. I've mostly heard the show in podcast form but I don't remember seeing close ups like that when on video versions of older ones I've seen.

This was great though, wish it was longer.

Personally, the weirdest bit for me was that I was back a home for a summer, working an intern job and crashing with my parents, and would watch Letterman with my mom. And Monty was a fixture during that time, so my reaction was very much “god damn it, Dave, wtf”
