Those loud, explosive sneezes like adults do. They're awful. I want to forever sneeze like a baby otter.

I HAVE THE SNEEZING STRENGTH OF TEN MEN.

And where has she been all my dark, miserable, doom-laden life?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 21 April 2005 22:44 (nineteen years ago) link

I don't like sneezes that startle. It should be a gentle release, not a ka-boom.

Apparently I sneeze "cute".

I've been sneezing like a cannon since I was eight.

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Thursday, 21 April 2005 22:56 (nineteen years ago) link

my sneezes are real headbanging explosions, and usually come in sets of three -- sometimes spaced out, sometimes not.

I fail to understand how a tiny baby sneeze actually accomplishes anything in the way of dislodging mucous or anything else.

also, big sneezing can very scary while driving

i love sneezing! it's like a free miniature orgasm.

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Thursday, 21 April 2005 23:08 (nineteen years ago) link

there's this creepy oulde fella who sometimes goes to the coffeeshop I frequent. He'll enter wearing the same red short-sleeved bowling shirt and carrying a silver briefcase which he never opens. He'll set it down at a table and settle in for about a minute, but then he'll get up and move to the other side of the place, leaving the briefcase. The first time I saw this I thought, "Fuck, the IRA", but then I remembered I was in Los Angeles. Anyway, he does this every single time.

He has this incredibly creepy habit of going over to any girl in the place who has a laptop and asking her "how much memory do you have left?" He'll then snicker for a few uncomfortable seconds and say, "I'm just kidding. Nice computer, though." What is he kidding about? Someone once asked him what was in the briefcase; "You know, the one you never open." He gave them a dirty look and said, "My papers...that's all."

Last time I saw him, he sat down next to a Catholic schoolgirl and began going on about "classic Hollywood films" such as Deal of the Century and Walking Tall Part 2. The girl nodded politely and kept looking around for a way out, which arrived when he accidentally drooled on his chest (exposed because his bowling shirt was--that day--unbuttoned all the way) and went to the bathroom to wipe himself up.

So the weird part about this guy is he sneezes really fucking loud.

Gear! (can Jung shill it, Mu?) (Gear!), Thursday, 21 April 2005 23:19 (nineteen years ago) link

does he add an extra-theatrical "chaaoooooooooooo-ooooo-wooo!" in falsetto at the end like my father does? (originally i think appropriated as an "ironic" affectation designed to cover irrational methodist embarrassment and now totally unavoidably hardwired in)

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Friday, 22 April 2005 00:19 (nineteen years ago) link

Tracer, I do that all the time. If I'm with all guys in an outdoor area I always try to get the most insane spray going, it looks especially gully under a street light.

I sampled a sneeze last night! I'm going to use it in place of a snare hit in a beat!

I sneeze loud and unapologetically. Big nose, you see.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 22 April 2005 12:51 (nineteen years ago) link

Sneezing is virtually the only thing I do like a grownup. I am not about to give it up.

RS_LaRue (RSLaRue), Sunday, 24 April 2005 21:36 (eighteen years ago) link

last night i was at the movies. i felt a sneeze coming on and wanted it not to be too loud so i anticipated it and tried not to make noise. but instead of being a quiet sneeze, it was like "ANNHHH," just voice, no "chhh" at all! it was sort of embarassing but there were only 8 people in the theater so i guess it was ok.

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Sunday, 24 April 2005 21:53 (eighteen years ago) link

One of my co-workers has this absurdly loud sneeze. I almost always at least smile when I hear her sneezing around the corner and way way down the hall from where I work.

My pal Jodi sneezes like a kitten. She's 40.

apparently, she's a Colombian TV presenter from the 70s (very old gif), but I can't find any more details - no name, so no luck on http://celebrityallergyarchive.blogspot.com/ and there's no search for visitors on http://www.sneezefetishforum.org/forums/

Fuxake, thought someone from the UK would have spotted that the sneezing woman is from Carry On Girls. Happens at 2:32 here. It's a swimsuit btw not a dress.

this has nothing to do with sneezing but: mention of Carry On Girls made me think of Patricia Franklin's John Foxx lookalike butch character, so I looked at her wikipedia page apparently she's Charlotte Hatherley's mother?

She is in that clip I posted. You can see her at 0:50 with the red bow in her hair and at 1:50 where Sid is fixing her hair I think.

My sneezes are like gunshots. Last week a colleague reported reported hearing them through a series of fire doors.
