As for places in/around DC, yeah - a whole lot of them suck ass, regardless of the crowds. I have really taken to not going out on the weekends, and getting my bar fix during the week. Makes for a much more relaxing time, and cheaper too, due to the wealth of during-the-week specials.

I have to point out, to anyone who missed it, that DCPD is adopting a "zero tolerance" policy in regards to drinking and driving. Like you can be arrested for a .01 BAC.

we sometimes ordered food from cafe asia when working late and i was not a fan. walking by it, it looks like the ikea of pan asian restaurants and it seems odd that it should be a happening spot for 20 somethings after work.

The long-haul feds don't bug me as much as the short-term profiteers, who're much more likely to be found screaming orders at my bartender and mistaking themselves for interesting people.

Yeah, the striped shirt clowns are a whole other tangent that I choose not to deal with. Much like the popped-collar clowns. Tools. I actually tried on one of those blocky collar and cuff striped oxfords a few months ago, and I felt...dumber. Like my ability to express myself was being lost in the intersecting lines on my back.

Weekends in DC are best spent with a good sixer from someplace and watching movies/sports. Weeknights are the new weekends. Theres 2.5 as many of them!

I went to play pool at this awful place in downtown Silver Spring and could only stand like 20 minutes of it--how is one supposed to play pool without cigarettes?

i investigated it a bunch awhile back and that was about as cheap as it got

you're going to basically have to get cable or the landline from what i understand? though i think you can get only dsl from the phone company but the price difference to get it with no phone line or to add the landline is so insignificant it's not worth making the big deal of getting ONLY dsl :\

but i haven't investigated thoroughly recently because i'm being lazy and scamming my work's wireless internet card.

yeah they told me that too $32 for high speed but not superfast and $42 for fast (if I don't get land line)

i might get comcast though it's faster + basic cable (i don't really care but it would be nice i suppose to have cable tv)

i have a wireless card too but usually am on my home PC and would be using it for web dev work

i've heard nothing good about comcast's customer service, though nothing has broken yet on our verizon stuff, and i'm sure verizon is just as bad.

that would be the main difference I've encountered between comcast and verizon, is that my verizon dsl doesn't get fucking hosed once or twice every month.

all these places have terrible customer service. if yr place is not already wired for cable (and looks can be deceiving--if you haven't actually plugged in the cable and checked to see if it is outputting anything, don't assume it's still wired) it'll be a drama to get cable internet.

tho the downside of testing this out is that you might discover that you already HAVE basic cable because comcast forgot to turn it off and then you will not want to call and get internets because if you call then they will KNOW you are stealing cable and will start charging you u_u

I have free internets most of the time. Sometimes not, depending on whether my friendly/unaware neighbor has her wireless running.

dudes, get comcast for a short-ass pd of time at whatever intro rate theyll give you, then when they jack it up, call and be like "ooh, please cancel," and theyll be like "ooh why?" and you be like "i just cant pay more than 19.99," and theyll do this game where they go "please hold," and come back with a lower rate, from like 39.99 to 34.99 to 29.99 to 24.99, and i think down to 19.99. you just gotta believe. i stopped at 29.99, but my friend got it down to 19.99, just by believing in herself.
