Lucy

I live in great isolation on the Queen Charlotte Islands and most of my clothes are second hand from brief off island trips (every year or two). But I need a resonable store where I can buy a few essentials in petite sizes on-line or from a catalogue in CANADA. I really like LL Bean but the duty and exchange rate make it prohibitive. Can anyone suggest some business that deal in petites, good quality. Lucy

Lucy, you have unwittingly wandered into a nest of - let's just call them unhelpful people. However, I suspect the major reason you have not received any more helpful answers is that:

1) the participants on this forum are unlikely to know of any catalogs of the sort you requested, as the very great majority are not Canadian, but come from all other parts of the globe, and

2) the title you gave to the thread is almost guaranteed to prevent anyone who knew the answer from knowing what you were asking. A title such as "Know of any good Canadian apparel catalogs?" would at least give useful clues. A title like "Lucy" mostly draws forlorn young men whose only reason for opening your thread is the dim hope that it may have something to do with breasts.

Or fossils. Or cartoons.

Or goats, too, I suppose.

No, just breasts.

eight years pass...

Thought we had a thread for the new Luc Besson film, but this'll do.

It was big dumb fun, in and out in 90 minutes, the end.

easily my fave Besson since Leon (of what I've seen)

I find it amusing that people are impressed with how "weird" Guardians of the Galaxy is, considering it just unseated this (probably) way-weirder movie at the box office.

Simon H., Wednesday, 6 August 2014 17:07 (nine years ago) link

This movie wasn't weird, it was just... outrageously stupid and not fun. (Stupid and fun is fine.)

Nhex, Wednesday, 6 August 2014 18:08 (nine years ago) link

I meant "weird" more in the context of H'wood success stories - sequel-proof (one would think), female lead, lean runtime with as little exposition as possible, R-rated, not an adaptation of anything, only two big names. (It's distinct in other ways, too, but those are the obvious ones.)

Simon H., Wednesday, 6 August 2014 18:23 (nine years ago) link

Isn't this bullshit the premise?

I saw this with a group of people, all of whom declared it the worst movie they'd ever seen. I loved it.

it does so many things movies aren't supposed to do, and with such pleasure

I still have a really hard time convincing people to watch this.

Simon H., Sunday, 18 January 2015 02:47 (nine years ago) link

I saw this immediately following Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and couldn't believe how much better this was.

morbs, did you actually see 'life with lucy'? it sounds like the most depressing thing ever.

This movie is stupid but in retrospect fun. The ending is hysterical.

I like the fact that Lucille Ball hosted a retrospective of Three's Company in 1982, because she was a fan of the show
