My boyfriend is moving to the glamorous location of Watford to study advertising...what is there to do in this place? Is it actually in London?? So far google isn't coming up with much. I need to decide whether I'm actually going to visit him or not.

Barring a miracle they're gonna get relegated, although Boothroyd is a prety talented manager who could surprise a few top teams.

Visiting Watford? Depends on where you'd be coming from yourself?

The 'tube' station is quiet far from the town centre. The nice Cassiobury Park lies between the two. But the mainline station is slightly better placed for Euston. I like the viaduct that the rail runs along to nearby Bushey. Watford is a bit rubbish generally though no more than countless other satellite towns to be fair.

i sued to be psyched that watford had costa coffee. that was before costa became ubiquitous.

watford has a good theatre, or 2, a bunch of shops in a shopping centre, some dodgy clubs, and most of all, lots of trains to central london.

its inside the m25 but struggles on being part of herts rather than london, or even greater london, in my mind. mind you i think of harrow as london and thats just next door.

its the sort of place where its good to do business. theres space, convenient transport links (luton airport, heathrow, m1, m25, trains to manchester, birmingham, brighton, london), its cheaper than london. ie its not an amazing place to live.

but yeah its just a satellite town. you might have an emotional attachment to the place, but coming cold to it as a neutral its pretty nothing much really.

but it isnt bad. also, its twinned with Novgorod, which is fuckin rad!

one plus is that there is some genuinely lovely countryside around it - mainly to the north west, but also south-west - round Rickmansworth way, fishing lakes etc.

Watford is brilliant and I'm sure the both of you will be exhausted before you're done enjoying the range of options on offer there. I'd say that on a Saturday morning it's vibrancy is unmatched by anywhere else in Southwest Herts, though Borehamwood is definitely on the rise at the moment and could really be one for the future.

Some classic bus routes go through there as well.
