We left a sandwich in the yard for our fox and it pooped right on top of it! It was very accurately positioned. I guess it doesn't like salami.

Colonel Poo, Thursday, 20 December 2007 10:21 (sixteen years ago) link

Did it come from a chain sandwich shop?

The blue-green world is drenched with horse gore, Thursday, 20 December 2007 10:22 (sixteen years ago) link

LOL no, but we should have given it jam sandwich cos I expect the salami was probably eaten by a cat. That was gone, just the bread was left. Fox protection league advises leaving jam sarnies cos cats don't like them. Maybe the fox was protesting the lack of filling.

This chap was in our garden in the autumn:

We won't be having foxes living in our garden soon - the landlord is knocking down the shed to build an extension. Which is a bit of a shame, the next door neighbour said when they have cubs you can see them playing in the garden. Having a nice new big bedroom will help soften the blow I expect.

i know there are lots of urban foxes but i've never seen one. seeing foxes is one thing i miss about living in the country. used to get whole families trotting across the road, bounding through the yard, etc.

tipsy mothra, Thursday, 20 December 2007 15:51 (sixteen years ago) link

maybe i don't see urban foxes cuz i don't look up

We saw a fox the other week trotting along the railway line in Cottingham, which is pretty urban.

you can guess the sort of windchills you get in kamchatka when the blizzard is like that

and that's not even an arctic fox

btw ~ there was a 'grizzly man' type crazy russian who lived with the brown bears on kamchatka.....similar fate, alas
