I did it quickly so I didn't have to choose between Pasta and Curry - rationale being that Indian food has gotta have a fair crack at beating Pizza in the next round - it's a bit TOO Italian otherwise

mind you a good plate of Pasta...my god...

can we please have "curry" defined? apologies if this was done early. does it mean "a curry" as in "any combination of meat and/or vegetables in curry sauce," or is it just the spice mixture?

This whole section is basically "foods that will all heartbreakingly lose to Pizza in the end" - it's like having the Grim Reaper in your study group

Bacon vs pastries was the only one I was dithering about, but wasn't too hard to choose in the end. I was also going to say that my choices reflect quite how unhealthy my diet is, but then there is only one healthy option in this round, and it's up against pizza, so doesn't stand a chance.

Aero: In my mind I was thinking the former, but left it intentionally vague and I believe some voters incorporated the latter into their deliberations.

pretty shocked to find myself considering a vote for salad over pizza but I had a greens mix with gorgonzola and candied pecans the other night as an appetizer for a pizza and guess which was better the salad or the pizza here I'll relieve the suspense, it was the salad, the salad was better than the pizza, it was the salad

that was hard for me too, but i decided on the flavor density ticket. pastries are just not as intensely flavorful as bacon. now i am having regrets because they are -- they ARE! -- they're just more subtly flavorful.

it's kind of a shame you had to learn it from this poll - I was at a restaurant during my 1st or 2nd trip to England trying to figure out what to eat and half the stuff on it contained "rockets" and I thought "man oh man what the hell is goin on"

salad seems such an arbitrary designation. like, most of the things i like that come in a salad also come on a pizza. except for beets. but i could have roasted beets and consider them "beets" and not "salad" - so, pizza.

Also: pastries, hard cheese, curry (though it was a tough call against pasta)

could you not make beet pizza with similar stuffs that people put on potato pizza? like chevre & walnuts, or gorg & rosemary? something like that...

yeah - i can imagine a pizza with roasted beets - i'm pretty sure i could go somewhere within a 10 mile radius and find one - but i think they are a bit too sweet and i like them separate from other things, except for maybe with some other sweet but tangy fruit or vegetable and a bit of chevre or soft cheese. (RIP soft cheeses)

There are decent curry places on Brick Lane but I've stopped going because of the guys that try to flag you down with coupons to their place. And then there is the Shampan, which is serious about being Bangladeshi. These days I go to Green Street in East Ham for South Asian things.
