ILX DRINK Fight Nomination/ Question Thread

Alright, so this one is going to be difficult. Here's the problems I'm having:

For the sake of consistency, we should have 64 entrants.

I don't think we can do 64 different TYPES of beer - or can we?

I think, because they do represent the VAST majority of beer consumed in the world, we need to include juggernauts like Budweiser, Coors, Heineken, Beck's, Bass, Guinness, etc., instead of only craft brews and quality macros.

If someone is already compiling this/building this poll, please let me know. Otherwise, I am happy to do it. Should be kind of fun.

I guess I'd recommend a mix of specifics (Huyghe Delirium Tremens, Budweiser, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, etc) and styles (saison, maibock). This is going to be tough. Very few ilxors have will have tasted all 64 on the bracket, no matter what they are, and won't be able to cast an informed vote.

yeah there should be a polite agreement that you don't get to vote against something unless you've actually had it.

okay so w/r/t that, it might be sorta a headache buttt

you could have 'don't know / haven't tried' as an option for each pair

otherwise people are forced to vote for something, and in this poll there's a pretty high chance that most of us haven't tried something or another. that's gonna require...24? choices instead of the regular 16, but I think it'd be worth it.

no one is "forced" to vote in these things tho!

forced in the sense that, if they have opinions on 3 of the matchups and haven't tried the other two, they either have to not vote or vote for something they're unfamiliar with

i think this is just too much. an all encompassing booze poll, i mean...

the food poll was a mishmash of ingredients, specific foods, and whole dish-styles. i guess that kind of works for booze too, in some ways, since, say 'drambuie' and 'chartreuse' are brands as well as the only thing of its kind.

but man, i dunno.

as someone who deals with categorizing information and someone who loves to drink this is really bugging me out
