AMC zombie series from Frank 'Majestic' Darabont - The Walking Dead

i know its dumb to have problems with the PLOT of this show of all shows. but i loved season 6 so much. and this was just too dumb. this is the group that cleared an entire prison of zombies with 10 people.

Don't need to tell you, because you're a smart grown up, but unless you are being paid to watch there is no reason to not bail on a show. I can't even remember when I stopped watching the show, but given its repetitive nature I'm not sure it even matters.

carol is probably my favorite character on t.v.

in season 7 she spent the entire season trying to get a little reading done. WORST hermit shack ever. *"Stately, plump Buck Mulligan....oh, darn, who's at the door now...?"

which was so sad. you can do the retired gunslinger/"i'm getting too old for this shit" thing for like 3 episodes tops before i start to get mad.

they don't even bother with good intros anymore. it's just someone asking someone else if they want a cup of coffee and then they cut to the ominous intro credits.

but, yeah, negan. like having your arch enemy being the manager of a tire warehouse. he's no governor. even though he's pretty much the same character.

i kinda dug the garbage people though. and their conan the barbarian warrior skeleton. too bad they turned out to be jerks. also completely implausible that nobody knew they existed.

i did enjoy easy street. have to throw that in.

watching the Walking Dead with Rufus now that he's old enough to take the scary. he wanted to watch it. haven't watched those old seasons since i first saw them years ago. and now i feel more for Shane! i couldn't wait for Shane to go when I first watched the show but now i just see such an obvious trauma victim. he's so fucked up. i mean he was still probably a dick in the old world but now i just see pain. and he's better in some scenes than i remember. he can definitely be a hokey actor, but he gets at that hidden rage (when he's away from people and not raging at them) and pain pretty effectively. and his face is so insane. his whole face looks like a broken nose.

I crack up every time Shane speaks. Like when they're burying Otis and he gets asked to say a few words and he's basically this guy

"His whole face looks like a broken nose" is otm and a really cool phrase, Scott. Catching up on season seven (for some reason) and jfc Rosita is possibly the stupidest character to ever be in this show (which is saying something). "Hi I'm one small person, my idiotic "schemes" have already gotten one person killed but hey, I think I can take on an entire community of ruthlessly mentally conditioned killers, get through them to their leader, and totally kill him". Also Morgan is a dangerous lunatic but he's presented sympathetically, so. And it'd be kinda cool if just one person looked up the word "disingenuous" for use when dealing with the Saviours.

That being said I'm like 16 episodes in.

the moment eugene was revealed to be a fraud was the moment i realised this show was never going to progress beyond a few dozen people forever refusing to just neck themselves. and then the s7 (?) opener was so fucking hamfisted i didn’t even care enough to be angry. apparently it’s still all about negan and his token bad guy routine.

There are some genuinely great episodes but it's been a long while since the last one

I somehow pushed on through season 7 but still haven't generated enough enthusiasm to start season 8.

never get to hear "CORALLLLLL!!!!!" again.

i didn't think anything could be as maddening and dumb as last season but this show is really trying to prove me wrong.

Curious if the changeout of Scott Gimple as showrunner is due to the widespread dissatisfaction with the last few seasons of the show.

My own interest is gauged by the use of the Comcast 'fwd 5 minutes' remote option, and I've been using it often last season and this one. Thought I was completely done, post-Glen demise, but instead I'm just zipping through each episode in 5-10 minutes to keep current.

yep, the reports of the death of TV's Golden Age were greatly exaggerated and premature!

i can't really defend anything about it anymore. there is no defense. season 6 is still my favorite season though. and that's longer than a lot of people lasted as far as watching the thing. i only care about carol and rosita and michonne. everyone else can die.

death of carl was actually pretty well done i just don't really care at this late date. we all gotta go sometime.

i feel bad for danai gurira that she's still bound to this show after delivering such a boundlessly charismatic performance in black panther, hopefully she can get killed off soon and go on to the bigger and better things she absolutely deserves

she is totally a movie star. this is true. the fact that she was so amazing on this show for so long and didn't become a movie star sooner is crazy.

it's kinda like if the Lost finale was two seasons long.

i suggest you stop watching. I hate watched up through neegan and couldnt take it any more and ive had all that time back in my life it feels great.

I am pretty sure I am done, i haven't watched any new episodes since it's been back on this year and I heard I am not missing anything.

i watched the whole series with my kid and he wants to keep watching every week so i'm just blaming him. i'm getting to a zen-like thing with it where i just don't care about anything that happens. it just washes over me. when the old lady shows up and trades gardening tips for records i....i don't really know what i felt.

Them spending 3 season to cover the time span of 1-2 months is what I can't deal with. Nothing ever happens.

Going back to the first season, I really miss how campy it used to be.

the last two episodes had michonne and rosita just standing around doing nothing. just standing there. which is a crime.

Yeah, everyone is just sweating, shooting stuff and waiting for Maggie to start showing. So many wasted opportunities.

jeez this thing has over 100 episodes. i mean that makes perfect sense, but i gave up very early because i couldn't even imagine finishing the season. like how i quit Sons of Anarchy with one episode left in season 3.

all these shows just drag on forever and almost every single one doesn't earn it.

I watched all of True Blood except for the last two episodes.

Sometimes I think about watching those last two episodes.

every time they talk about being low on food i keep thinking about how half of virginia is made of walmart and sam's club. they would never be low on food. but in their hellish world they aren't allowed to shop in the real world. they have to forage cans from dusty gas stations.

All the big superstores have helicopters crashed on the roof waiting to cave it in.

that was the ONE big store they were allowed to shop in. the one where the roof caved in. that put them off big stores filled with food for good.

i always remember that one nice suburban street where carl and rick and michonne hung out and carl ate all the pudding. man, you could have lived there for a year. nothing was touched. and that was just one neighborhood. they never look for nice neighborhoods. they like dusty empty auto parts stores the best.

just find a nice gated community why are they so dumb, go live on a little island or something.

They are from Georgia after all. They like those sort of thangs.

there are quite literally THOUSANDS of places with lots of food and good lockable doors. hotels, jails, schools, etc. you wouldn't go hungry for a very long time. everyone's dead for pete's sake.

Haven't watched this show in so long I don't know the last season I saw, but I always thought it would be smart if they rode bicycles instead of walking everywhere. Bicycles are fast, cheap, light and everywhere. Bikes and guns, if they just went to some abandoned subdivision in GA they'd be awash in both on no time.

nothing in the show makes any sense. there are totally mountains in america. places where NOBODY could get to you. places where you could see people coming a mile away. but, in general, not going to the fancy neighborhoods to make camp makes less than no sense. they always have the best stuff.

beyond that though, the last two seasons are all about the torture of having negan around forever instead of killing him immediately which is what any sensible person would have done. they had tons of opportunities to kill him and its just kind of cruel to prolong the badness for that long. it's just dumb. it is kinda like the writers are writing the show for a really dumb audience and it wasn't like that when the show was worth watching. i mean everyone still did lots of dumb shit back then but people tend to do a lot of dumb shit. so, it made more sense then.
