When I started being more conscious of my eating habits and tried to eat as healthy as I could, I stopped eating cereal altogether because I couldn't find one with enough low sugar. This was over 8 years ago. So, cereal was a 'treat' to be eaten every once in a while.

One day looking through the cereal aisle I found Nature's Path. They're a company from British Columbia. I looked them up now and it looks like they've expanded a lot.

I'm sure there are cereals comparable to some of the ones that Nature Path offers, but I don't get anything else.

Here is the one I get: http://ca-en.naturespath.com/product/multigrain-oatbran-cereal

Food labels will usually have the answers to your health questions, though (e.g., Which one is better, health-wise? Which one has less sugar, etc.?)

Remember that if you get oatbran or multigrain, don't eat whole lot, especially if you already eat lots of fibre, otherwise you'll be running to the washroom a lot! :)

dude you can buy muesli base and chop some fruit into it, that'll be healthier than yr multigrain cereal shiz

TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Friday, 23 August 2013 16:45 (ten years ago) link

My stomach is too sensitive to muesli. Plus, muesli tastes completely different.

Not to mention that it requires one to chew like a horse.

I could really go for a heaping, soggy mouthwad of bran flakes right now. I'm usually more into eggs & beans in the morning, though.

I'm in this world now

hello akmak crackers and apple slices, rice cakes and cottage cheese

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 24 October 2013 03:46 (ten years ago) link

Rice cakes are kind of gross, to be fair. Unless you mean mochi or tteok; in which case, eat up!

But for snacking, I'd much rather eat baby carrots or blueberries (people put it in cottage cheese, which I actually don't like either).

There's always watermelon with feta, as well!

c21m50nh3x460n, Thursday, 24 October 2013 05:08 (ten years ago) link

carrots too. radishes as well. A rice cake with cottage cheese + lemon pepper is good eating imo.

Oh, nevermind, then. I thought you were expressing your displeasure at eating rice cakes.

putting grapes in the freezer for a little bit is nice

markers, Friday, 18 April 2014 18:51 (ten years ago) link

Fruit seems to begin rotting in my current fridge way faster than it should, and I'm sure it's cold enough in there.

I've been tempted to get this to extend fruit life in the crisper.

Congratulations! And my condolences. (Sanpaku), Saturday, 19 April 2014 00:56 (ten years ago) link

yeah it's good! i was thinking of trying that out with these mini orange/clementine/whatever the fuck they are things we have.

i've actually done a not terrible job of cutting out shit like bugles and pringles. i don't eat either of those things anymore. but if i make a few more tweaks over the next week or so my diet should be very good. much better than it was during the dark days.

markers, Saturday, 26 April 2014 21:31 (ten years ago) link

i mostly drink seltzer, some orange juice, and regular water. no more sugary anything when it comes to drinks. no more candy. no desserts. no donuts. muffins! bagels! i've had two power bars in the past 24 hours. but it's much better.

markers, Saturday, 26 April 2014 21:32 (ten years ago) link

maybe i should go back and re-read some of the nutrition nazi threads in an attempt to next level things. i want to be super healthy. the fact that i actually have a good sleep schedule now is huge too though.

at this gym i used to go to there was this very very fit girl who would hang out at the gym for hours and hours, on more than one occasion i saw her kind of lackadaisically pedaling a stationary bike while texting people on her phone and eating from a small bag of crinkle-cut fries sold at the grill in the building next door
