Did you attend? Any fun experiences?
I attended baseball camp every summer for two weeks from age 5 through 16...loved it.

Went to "educational" camps at college campuses when I was a teenager.
Never went to the ones in the woods where you make belts and wallets.

^went to one of those. Burned "Led Zeppelin" into a piece of wood and painted it. Slow-danced for the first time iirc.

last summer camp i ever attended, on the last day my arm literally broke in half and the idiot teenage counsellors wrapped it in a dirty pillow on the way to the hospital, causing the wound to become infected and almost leading to a below the elbow amputation a few weeks later, plus a brief moment where it looked like i was gonna die on the operating table.
neededless to say i've never quite understood the impulse to let drunk and/or brain damaged 17 to 22 years look after children.

I went to this day camp http://www.obyg.org/ every summer from ages 4-13 and then worked there from 13-17. My parents only worked in the summer but really long hours so camp was pretty much a necessity and since this was where they worked it was perfect. I loved it and have tons of fond memories as both a camper and counselor.
I was supposed to go to sleep away camp one summer when I was like 8 but about a week before I freaked out and was afraid I'd miss home too much so didn't go.
The summer between jr and sr year in HS I went to a creative program at a college in the Berkshires. It was amazing. Didn't really do much writing though.

i always dreamed that i'd have one of those summer camp sex fantasies come true when i was a horny 12 year old. Unfortunately there were only 1-2 girls at baseball camp, and im pretty sure they had cocks.

NO! I don't remember that at all.
I think I liked being a counselor much better then being a camper tbh. I had 4-5 year olds which is a really fun age. My favorite camper ever was a kid named Elliot whose favorite musician was Bwuce Spwingsteen. He could also play the guitah and armonica and had crazy curly hair and tiny converse. On the last day of camp he told me I was the prettiest counselor and his favorite and that he wanted to take me back to NYC and asked his mom if I could live with them. <3 Damn that kid is probably about 20 now. Woah.

Also, I was bullied awfully by everyone in my cabin, every year, and no one would leave me alone long enough to get any reading done. My mother couldn't understand how or why anything "bad" could happen to me at a Christian camp. o_O

i liked sleepaway camp went for a couple of years until i was like 14 (mb 13) for three weeks. learned to kayak was p sweet. also capture the flag.
the worst 'camp' xp was my mom sending me to 'gifted' summer school when i was 11 even tho i got really good grades. in fact because i got really good grades :/ the kids @ that were the worst, and i had to take a bus for an hour each way everyday & i was so mad, like i thought it was a punishment, i mean school was supposed to be over.
i mean camp is fun but really summer when your kid should just be soda for breakfast and sleepovers and swimming in ppls pools and playing street fighter for nine hours str8

never understood bible camp.
the one thing that i truly remember from baseball camp was one of the counselors had been drafted by a MLB team and was pitching to us one day. I was yacking at him the entire time and he threatened to throw fastballs at me. I ripped a HR off him, next time at bat he drilled me in the thigh. My leg had the stitch marks from the ball on it.

Oh man so that camp would put on counselor musicals every year that I insisted on being in even though I can't sing. This is how I wound up a fat 14 year old in white spandex with construction paper hooves and a top hat singing a solo as Mr. Tumnus in the musical version of Narnia. Another year they wanted to do Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat but couldn't get copyright permission or something so, no joke, we put on production of Michael and the Multicolored raincoat.

One summer I babysat for one of my campers and her little brothers every afternoon after camp ended because her mom had to go like work on her tan or play some more tennis instead of, you know, being a parent or whatever. They had some brand new gaming system that I didn't have and I remember spending the first couple weeks trying to convince her that playing video games was much more fun than going to the beach all afternoon. She wasn't buying it and I wound up really looking forward to rainy days.

I went to camps where you had to speak Irish all the time, sort of as a way of learning Irish since it's mandatory at school and everyone hates it. Generally they're in areas of Ireland where native Irish speakers are still holding out. They were more fun than that makes them sound, though each year they'd make the news for some poor child getting sent home because he sneezed and said "excuse me" in English.
One sentence in English and you were gone, though I always thought if you were smart and had been once before you began thinking in Irish after a time. I discovered a real love for the language there, though not the accompanying republicanism. You had to salute the flag and sing the national anthem in the morning and evening, which at the time I found less ridiculous for teenagers than I do now. There were a lot of hardcore republican undercurrents too, though not as far as violence ever being mentioned.
As well as all this you met girls and stuff...I went back as a leader aged about 16, had to look after kids who were 9, 10, 11 etc, it was such good fun. Having to deal with people who'd never left home on their own before and keep them in good humour was something I really liked, kinda has stayed with me in terms of liking kids now I'm older.
I'm trying to think of standout anecdotes but the main one I can remember is that in one house I stayed in, the woman would give food we didn't eat to the farmer next door's pigs as slops. One night she served this mound of horrible sausages which nobody ate.
We saw innocent pigs made cannibals that night.

I did Boy Scout camp for a week for several years, then did a hiking trip at Philmont one year (10 day trip), then went to German camp for high school language credit in northern MN for two summers (4 weeks each time).
In college, I continued the summer camp experience by singing in choirs that went on summer tours; that got me 10 days in England one year, a week in LA, 2.5 weeks in Japan, a week in Korea and 4 days in Taiwan the next year, and a week in England and 10 days in Germany the following year.
